So good to see this series back up again, nothing beats Lupa playing and voicing Radu.

one of the good things to come from the Channel Not So Awesome revelation is that I rediscovered where Allison/Obscurus Lupa has been, and I get to rewatch her Subspecies reviews that i loved in college!!!
I assumed the opening was set hundreds of years before the girls arrived in Romania, and that Radu had been sleeping. Apparently, everyone forgot the history behind this castle *while the vampire king was still living there.*

I miss going to the Video shop, it made Friday or Saturday nights an event when I was younger getting with mate arguing which movie we wanna rent again and blame the person who picked the new movie lol. I remember going to a friends 11 or 12th birthday and eating pizza and watching Return of the Living Dead part II and one our mates vomited when the zombie got stabbed screw driver to the head and says
"Get that damn screw driver out of ma hed"

Only thing I don't miss is when they tried to slam you with late fees even if you turned the tape in a few days earlier

I'm 13, and I always pick old movies to watch at sleepovers, especially the return of the living dead movies and the subspecies series. I love part two of return of the living dead 2 so much. I know it's a little silly, but again, most of the things I like are silly, especially the Troma films>

I loved the Subspecies series. I bought all the DVD's. So refreshing to see a genuinely creepy vampire, the way they should be, rather than pretty boy vampires that sparkle in sunlight.

Though Karl's "the Frugal Gourmet with Romulan eyebrows" look does give a valiant effort to live up to Poodle Scrimm's example.

I love how this series started as a pretty good horror film and them immediately jumped the shark to camp comedy.
I was 10 when this hit VHS . It gave ne nightmares for days and i didn't really understand it. I re-watched it not to long ago and i liked the story so i watched the sequels part two i think is the best . such a full moon classic. I need to go watch Castle Freak now.
Now I know, how Radu was made.
Mara obviously needs more experience in the hospitality or travel industry. Sending people to places like that on their vacation was a bad move. lol

Maybe it’s because it’s old school vampires, maybe it’s because these vampires don’t sparkle under the sun or maybe it’s because it’s not taken seriously but for whatever reason: I love watching this.

As a Romanian:
Radu is not pronunced RaDU but RAdu (accent on the first syllable). The car the girls drive is a Trabant, the legendary car from Eastern Germany (we had it also in Romania being part of the Eastern block). And the movie is deliciously bad, had no idea this was the first US film shot in Romania (oh boy, surprise, it's about vampires!)
I have been watching Full Moon stuff for years (Evil Bong rules!). How the hell did I miss out on Subspecies? This looks awesome!
I last saw Anders Hove in General Hospital. He was one of many characters in a mask on the show. Also his character was obsessed with the Haliwell's mom.

One of my favorite vampire flick XD I love the part where he made little goblins from his severed finger. And kudos to the makeup artist bcs Radu looks creepy af. His fangs even look natural! We are deprived of creepy vampires nowadays.

I love how the film series actually goes DOWNHILL after this one.

I really want to see a "Radu" re-edit of Mel Brooks' "Dracula: Dead and Loving It". Sure, he's not Leslie Nielsen, but he'd make the movie awesome in a different way.
Gore and horror ickiness tends to gross me out, but this is weirdly one of my favorite review series' you ever made. I just have to look through my fingers when Radu is letting blood drip out of his mouth like a damn slob.

I love this movie but cant watch it without hearing lupa's voice 😂
Yes, Circa 2012 Lupa, they could drive a truck up the several stories of a sheer rocky cliff and drive it through several feet of solid stone or try and carry the likely several hundred pounds coffin outside when there are only two of them and one of them is an old man with a likely bad back.
Because that makes sense.

I believe the subspecies in Subspecies is referring to the vampires are the subspecies. The little demons were just them doing something different. Though I till love the series.

Yah this film like all full moon features was absolute direct to video cheese, but that's why we love it, I can tell you're a full moon fan and so am I, gotta love it and subspecies is a favorite, though I'll admit, my most favorite full moon features has to be the first puppet master😁😁😁😁😁

In all honesty, this series should have either ended after the first film or had like 10 sequels.
I haven't grown up to Full Moon Entertainment as a kid. I was more interested in things from Fox Kids, Kids WB, Saban, DC, Marvel, and so on.
0:35- "Aliens in the Wild Wild West"? Pff, really original guys. I'll stick with the movie Cowboys & Aliens, thank you very much.
1:17- Even though my hometown no longer has a video store, I can still borrow movies for a week at my local library, FOR FREE!
4:57- Angus Scrimm was about as important to this film as John Carradine was in Frankenstein Island.
5:51- Speaking as someone who was in my high school's marching band, this funeral parade SUUUUUUUCKS.

Most recently, Charles Band got a Worst Director Razzie Award nomination for doing the Barbie & Kendra series in 2020 (Them storming Area 51, saving the tiger king and fighting against corona zombies).
He lost against Sia for directing that god-awful Music film.
And the 3 movies also got mentioned for Worst Screenplay, losing to 365 Days
