    This tutorial is PRIMO in my opinion! There is nothing worse than having attachments for your machine and not knowing how to uise them. This entire tutorial is so very useful for me. I have been reluctant to do any sort of ruler work as I was afraid of ruining my machine by not installing the foot correctly or doing something else wrong. A thousand thank-you's for this video. Maybe you might consider doing other videos on the feet of our machines? I'd greatly appreciate that and I am sure that others would as well!

    Thank you for explaining the multi foot attachment. I have one of these feet but the foot read multiple attachments. Didn't explain how and no other attachments came with the foot. She tried to explain it over the phone but I have to admit I was confused I really thought I got the wrong product because I was sure the one I purchased was to come with all the attachments.

    This was excellent. I already knew much, but not all of what was shared here but had to piece it together over time from various sources and trial and error. If only I had found a resource like this years ago! I have found and subscribed to your channel now Kate.

    Another fabulous Kate Quinn video. I notice you do not use a glider, any particular reason?

    • @katequinnoffabquilts

      This allows people to see the included Janome table. Since the glider was not a typical Janome product, I wanted to be more consistent with their products. However I always use my glider for my own sewing. I love it. Tks for asking.

    Hello Kate, can you tell me how we can decide whether our machine is a low shank or high shank machine? I want to purchase some rulers, but don't know which type to purchase. I have a Janome M7 Continental machine with a QR ruler foot and electronic height adjustment. Any additional guidance you can provide would be very helpful. Thank you!

      The Continental M7 is a high-shank machine - we have more resources on our Janome website at www.janome.com/siteassets/products/accessory-images/slides/accessory-compability-guide-updated.pdf.

    • @katequinnoffabquilts

      The templates for the HQ16 should be 1/4” thick so the current Janome set would not be suitable for that machine.

    Has Janome mc 12000 been improved to implement using ruler quting

    • @katequinnoffabquilts

      Hi Raquel, I doubt that the 12000 has been improved/updated but even older machines can do rulerwork. This machine in the video has no special feature to allow me to do rulerwork. I have the straight stitch selected, the rulerfoot on, and the feed dogs down. I am pretty sure you can do that with the 12000 without any special updates or anything.

    • @raquelchapa1428

      I read on the Janome data on the newsletter. It informed us that the mc horizon 12000 cannot use a free motion ruler foot cannot be used due the automatic lift up. It will break. Also involved the atomic cutter thread with a lift of feet. Please look into this information with the company.

    • @katequinnoffabquilts

      Hi Karen. You cannot set the stitch length on the 3160. It is governed by your movement.
      Here is a video with more info on that for you:

    • @JanomeJAI

      Yes, you can do ruler work on the 6700P. For this machine model, you need to purchase the ruler foot base for your included convertible foot holder and you will be all set. Please see your local authorized Janome dealer to inquire and purchase. Happy sewing!

    how thick is those rulers?

    • @katequinnoffabquilts

      Hi Norrine. Generally I recommend low shank templates with a low shank machine but Janome ruler feet are a little more flexible and have more clearance than the Westalee style ruler feet.
      My rulers here were high shank and I had no trouble moving with them on this low shank machine. Clearance at the back of the ruler foot is always what determines what thickness template that can be used.
      On a low shank machine with a Janome foot, a 1/4” ruler is too thick but a high shank can be used without an issue. High shank rulers are 4.5 mm thick. The Longarm rulers are 1/4” thick or 6 mm. The low shank rulers are 3mm.
      Hope that helps-Kate Quinn

      @@BridgeMDperhaps the lighting makes it appear that way but they actually look very good. I have other videos where you can see the stitching better with maybe a different colored thread. They are nice and even and smooth.
