❤ I enjoy using my 9450 machine, a great machine. This video is exactly what I need to apply binding. I usually use the walking foot but your demo showed me how to use my HP2 foot. Thank you 😊
Great tutorial! Thank you so much. 🙂 I'm so glad to find tutorials for my machine--I will make more time to build my confidence with these tutorials. It's easier for me to learn by watching and listening.
Great tutorial, you give a very relaxed and confident lesson - I feel my quilting will go to the next level with this interesting in-depth exploration into the HP plate etc, thank you.
This is the first I have heard and seen the HP2 foot. And I found it very helpful watching you use both of these feet. I will have to use the HP foot for my piecing now. Thank you again Miriam, love these video tutorials.... Claudia
Hi, I just noticed your name, and I live in Jamestown, NY where everything is about Lucille Ball! I ordered the HP2 foot for my 15000 to quilt with now. I hope you enjoy it with your HP plate and Happy sewing. Love your name!😀
Thanks for this tutorial, very informative. My machine doesn't have the HP plate, but I'd love to have it, it looks great. I know the MC6700P has it too, I love that machine, I'd love to have it, even though I love my MC 8200 QCP too. If I could, I'd get the 6700 in a heartbeat and have both of them and would love them both ☺
Thank you This is sooo needed during Covid times as sellers are not able to provide in person instructions for new machines. New machines have so many options and we need to fully utilize them to get great results making our projects! Thank you! Looking forward to other online tutorials! Anna
Nice video, but it was not clear (to me) what is meant by the "inside" of the foot, and it seemed like that phrase first referred to the outer edge of the foot (away from the needle), and then at the end of the video to the edge of the foot nearest the needle. Please clear up my confusion!
Thanks Miriam, like your videos, please make tutorials on the quilt maker pro 18 longarm. I purchased mine in Arkansas when you were here Nov. 2017 and love it. There are so many things that it will do, but I probably have not discovered a lot of them. I certainly would like to know that I am not missing any really cool and helpful things it is capable of doing.

Does this work like the walking foot or replace it? I don’t like the walking foot because it is awkward and you can’t see what you’re doing. I need alternative
What is the best source to purchase the HP 2 foot? Does the plate come with the foot or is there a separate purchase? And what is the MSRP? Can't wait to try this out. Thanks for a great tutorial. Such a pleasant voice, appreciate your being straight to the point. :)
I have a straight stitch plate that comes with the S9 to be used when embroidering. Is this plate similar to the HP plate ? Can I use it together with the HP foot?
Do the feed dogs (on the upper main screen) need to be put on? No videos I’ve seen have addressed the settings on the home screen. Thank you in advance.
The Skyline 6 is similar to my machine, the mc8200qcpse, which is not compatible with the HP plate, so probably not. I think the machines that can use it are the mc6700p, the horizon mc9450, the continental m7, and the latest one, the m17. There may be other models but I can’t think of them. Another machine that can also use it even though it’s not standard with it, is the mc6650, the one with the beautiful red panel on it. That machine will take it, you just have to buy it separately. I don’t think this is well known. I saw it on a Janome Canada video about this machine. Hope this helps
Yes - you’ll note that in the video she at different points refers to each of the different edges of the foot as the “inside.” See 4:25 and 7:45. Pretty confusing!
Hello Trish - here's a link to our website that lists the machines that can use the HP foot at this time with one addition - the Continental M17! Happy Sewing - www.janome.com/accessories/sewing-machine-feet/hp-needle-plate-and-foot-set/
Terry, we do not manufacture an edge guide foot with the HP2 shank at this time. There is a 1/4 guide foot available for the dual-feed AcuFeed system. Please see your local Janome dealer to try it out and purchase. Happy Sewing!
I was wondering if you have any idea why I can't set my machine, the Horizon 9400, to stop in the 'needle up' position (which I learned how to do in another of your videos) when using my HP feet? I had it set, but when I changed to the HP foot and plate it cancelled that setting. I went to the 'Common Settings' and it is no longer an option.
These video are wonderful I have the 9450 and sews beautiful till I try and use the HP plate and foot then it’s a hot mess..stitches are way to loose . I have re thread both top and Bobbi and nothing seems to help..and idea what I’m doing wrong I hope you see this comment..thank you
Hi - I haven’t seen anyone else reply to your message, and I purposely read through the comments to see if anyone had the same issue I had. My solution to the loose tension issue is to manually increase the tension. I imagine there are lots of machines out there that weren’t “set” properly, with the tension set very low. Good luck!
Linda, the Skyline S7 is not compatible with the HP Professional Grade Foot and Needleplate system. Your machine comes standard with the regular zig-zag needleplate, and the straight-stitch needleplate as an option.
Hi Sherry, I just discovered glue basting. I love it for bindings. I use Elmer's SCHOOL glue (must be "school", not "glue all"). I pour it in a bottle with a fine tip. I bought the bottle here: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZSY5XQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am using my HP foot with pieces.cut by my Accuquilt Go Big. Because the dog ears are already cut off, I need an exact 1/4" seam. Do you have any tips for getting an exact 1/4" seam? Thank!!
Yes! Please read this article written by our national spokesperson, Kimberly Einmo! www.kimberlyeinmo.com/the-elusive-scant-1-4-seam-defined-and-conquered
I just started using my HP2 foot but I cannot press the accufeed button my the cpu - it will only allow you to press this button IF you have one of the regular stitch plates attached. Do you have any suggestions? Also what I find is that there is a big space between the HP2 and the HP plate underneath - it doesn't "grab" the fabric right away. Do you have any suggestions about this too? Thanks!
What machine are you using? It links like a Skyline model. I am so disappointed that the HP foot was not available for my S 9. Will that be available soon?
Vikki, there is an HP foot and plate available for the Skyline S9. Your dealer can contact us regarding availability if it is currently out of stock. They can contact our sales department who can give them a general eta to your part of the country. Happy Sewing!
@@JanomeJAI I went to Pocono Sew and Vac in Stroudsburg PA where they tried the plate on their Skyline 9 to make sure and it did not fit so they declined to sell the foot and plate to me. Maybe you know something they don’t? I would love to have that combo for piecing.
@@Bandaid17 Vikki the Skyline S9 does have the HP foot and Plate as an optional accessory. The plates vary depending on which model they are for - for example, the plate for the Continental M7 or 17 are different than the HP Needle Plates for the S9. No unfortunately, this machine isn't compatible with the HP plate or foot, I have this machine too, I love it but sometimes I wish I could use the HP plate...
I just bought this machine. I was using the the HP plate and foot. All of a sudden the foot came apart. The pin just fell out. Who do I contact to have it replaced?
From memory, if you accidentally put it on without the right foot plate, the normal needle position takes it through that hole so it doesn't break the needle.
The HP Foot and Needleplate are not optional accessories for the MC8900. For more information on which accessories fit your machine, please see the machine's page on Janome.com at www.janome.com/machines/sewing/mc8900/. Happy Sewing!

No, the straight stitch needle plate cannot be used with the HP foot. That foot can ONLY be used with the HP plate.
There is a software update you can do on the S9 to be able to use the HP plate and the HP feet. You can access the update on the Janome Global page.

How can I use the HP foot and plate on my Janome Memory Craft 8200 QCP special edition
?
Patricia, the HP foot and plate are not optional accessories for the 8900 QCP model.
I am a bit confused what is the "inside of the foot" ? so I line it up in the opening of the foot but against the edge ?
To clarify, line up the raw edge of the fabric with the precise right outside edge of the HP foot to achieve a scant 1/4" seam.
