    It's so nice to see someone demonstrating on a full size quilt, instead of a little square of fabric!

    I am so glade that i ran across this video I have been trying out quilting with rulers and this design is great...... I have been working on a queen size quilts that are ten inch blocks ..... so what i did was to break down the ten inches into four five inch areas to quilt and straight lines and i thought i had made a mess of it but looking at this design maybe i am not doing so bad....lol i did not start out quilting straight lines but that is for another day..... keep up the good work.

    Angela, thanks so much for providing these instructive quilalongs! I did the dot to dot and fills one, and learned so much in the process. I do find, however, starting this ruler one, I’m way more apt to be critical of less than perfect stitches and lines with ruler work, opposed to free motion, where if I make an oops, I can fill around it to make it more purposeful looking. With ruler work, how do I keep myself from constantly wanting to go in with my seam ripper and correct my mistakes from slipping rulers et al? Doing my best, tho! Thanks! Wendy

    Question: how do you know distance? Like the dot to dot it's about 1/2 an inch; is it just eyeballing? And the scrambled lines how do you keep the lines consistent? One is skinny and the next fat. I got straight figured out, but not spacing. Thanks so much for doing this.

    • @maryrosespriggs5427
      @maryrosespriggs5427 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use safety pins about 6 inches apart and then spend some time with the walking foot quilting any long straight lines. If there are open areas, I leave the pins in until I get close. Never put your ruler over a safety pin, take it out. After I have been quilting for a while, there are no pins left.

    I have the Chevy ruler with extensions and I’m not exactly seeing how the extensions better position the corner points as they seem to stop the foot too soon. Hoping you will explain more about that. And when I use Slim to create an angle what lints on the ruler do you suggest we use to set the angle? My angles are shifting degrees of openness. • @sunflowerbaby1853
      @sunflowerbaby1853 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try repositioning the direction of the thread. Horizontal or vertical. .Maybe a thread stand or thread net. But the most impt is the correct needle & size & proper tension. If none of that works contact the thread manufacturer. Good luck.

    • @maryrosespriggs5427
      @maryrosespriggs5427 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Bernina and I have a free motion foot also called a darning foot that has a tiny flat ring, and a ruler foot #72 which has a cylinder. You want the ruler foot to work with rulers in this series.

    • @lindarider8217
      @lindarider8217 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ask for a ruler foot or ruler foot adapter for your model # at your local Bernina dealer. If they don't have it, they can order for you. HINT (warning?) When I asked about circular rulers that I had seen in a video, she said it would be more economical per ruler to get a set of assorted rulers.

    I am using a long arm, Handi Quilter, with the Sure Foot. The needle is not in the center of the Sure foot. So I am not getting a quarter inch with the ruler on all sides. I have tried to hold the Sure foot in place before tightening the screw. Nothing I do seems to help. Do you have any tricks or do you think the foot needs to be replaced?

    • @chrisgreen4231
      @chrisgreen4231 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not familiar with the foot, but here's some things you can try. If the needle is in the correct position back-to-front, but a bit to one side, try moving the needle over (if your machine does that). Or try putting a little shim between the top of the foot and the shank (where you screw the foot on).

      I have an HQ Sweet Sixteen with a sure foot. My needle is dead center. You may want to call HQ customer service. They may be able to help you get this worked out.

    I’m having trouble finding a foot like this for my low shank Baby Lock machine. Does anyone have a place I can order one from? Thank you in advance for replies and suggestions. God bless!!

    Your tops always look so loosey goosey. How do you keep them from making a big mess.

    In the first of this lesson, it looks like you are applying the 'scrambled lines' to a white section of the panel/material. I'm assuming that's because it's easier to see? The Tip Sheet shows it on the panel as the blue section, correct??
