Hello I hope you would be able to give some advice on the Bandlab app. I use an Irig Pre to record to my Samsung Galaxy S10e and the mic I use is a Shure SM58. First I go to TH-cam, copy the link of the karaoke track, go to Google Chrome and convert to MP3 then download to my phone. From there I open bandlab, import track and record the vocals only. I don't own a laptop that's why the irig pre is very convenient. I experience a lot of muffled vocals and static here and there. Would you happen to know why? I'm not sure if it's the irig or the bandlab app. Thank you.
Christal Hi, I do not have a iRig pre myself but I see it has no clip light so here is my suggestion... Set your SM58 on a mic stand so that the SM58 is pointing at your mouth. Make sure your mouth is between 10cm (4 inches) and 20cm (8 inches) from the SM58. On the iRig pre, turn the gain dial all the way down and then all the way up so you get a feel for where the middle point on the dial is. Set the gain dial on the iRig half way between full on and the middle point. Create a voice/mic track in BandLab. Wear headphones to listen to the karaoke track. Press record on the voice/mic track. While you sing along to the karaoke track watch the BandLab screen... if the vertical lines that appear as your sing are all the way to the top and/or the bottom of the recording window, turn the gain dial down on the iRig until the vertical lines are no longer all the way to the top and/or bottom of the record window. Try to stay still while you are recording your voice and keep your mouth the same distance from the SM58. Also, check the vertical lines on the karaoke track record window and make sure they don't go all the way to the top and/or bottom of the record window. If this doesn't work, there a several other things that can cause your problems. It might be a memory buffer problem... try deleting the karaoke track so you only have your vocal track, then play your vocal track. If this solves the problem, you need to force close all other apps on your phone before using BandLab. Otherwise the problem is most likely your hardware... the iRig, weak batteries, your SM58 or your XLR cable.
@@IbandUK Thank you for your prompt response. It does not have a clip light. Even the gain dial has no indication of where it is which makes it difficult. I tried stepping back 2 feet and it still clipps. I do see that the vertical lines are all the way up and all the way down. The vocals of the song I'm trying to record are strong and seems like no matter what I do it sounds bad :( I did just place a new 9v battery as well. Maybe I need a different preamp??? I was looking at the ones bandlab make that I can connect to my Android. I really appreciate you helping out with this. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Christal Okay, so it sounds like too much gain... So try recording your vocals and moving the gain control on the iRig pre to see if you can make the vertical lines shorter. Also, you could try adding a compressor in BandLab, shown here in my video... th-cam.com/video/lRdYmeqgu9w/w-d-xo.html A compressor will make the louder bits not so loud and I would definitely recommend a compressor on the song in your link. I am also inclined to say the sm58 is a great live mic but not a great match to the iRig pre because the sm58 has a much higher output volume than the type of condenser microphone typically used for recording.
@@IbandUK I turned the gain down and the vocals in the beginning of the song are super low. I will watch the video and add the compressor. I had purchased the Neewer NW700 condenser microphone set with Phantom power and was the same issue. Maybe my voice is just too loud :-)
Angela Sanders Hi, yes... The makers of BandLab have now replaced the white stop button with a smaller red square button for some reason, so you press the small red square button instead now.
great video! i’m new to bandlab and i would really like to know why when i record a song the instrumental i used doesn’t play along like singing with the music in the back? and once i listen to what i recorded the music gets cut out i dont know what to do or how to use it
musicbyrach Hi, can you please explain a little more? is the instrumental a recording of you playing a guitar? Also, try this... Solo one track and play your song to see if that track is okay. To solo a track, tap on the mixer settings icon in the bottom left of the screen and tap the S that is to the right of the track name. After you have played your song, tap the S again to turn off solo. Now do the same with each track. If all your tracks are okay in solo then it it might be a memory problem on your phone or tablet, so (if your device is android) make sure you tap the square icon on your device screen before you open BandLab and tap the bin icon to close all other apps.
BenaJamie Always wear headphones when recording with a microphone, so you listen to the recorded tracks through the headphones. If the the microphone still picks up the recorded tracks, turn the volume down on the headphones.
Hi, when I record the song, when I listen to it the instruments also gets recorded. How can I just record the vocals without recording the music again?
gokul suresh Hi, you need to use some headphones or earphones. Check out my video on how to setup for recording vocals... th-cam.com/video/OkuoFQddCSU/w-d-xo.html If you still have some background noise with headphones, you can remove the background noises like this... th-cam.com/video/MxegmgNvZF4/w-d-xo.html
@@IbandUK it took me so long to find anyone even asking this question, because I have the same problem. Everything in the project mixes down into the vocal track no matter what I do. Even if I sit with my headphones on with the microphone to the headphones tightly clenched in my fist so there's no chance to microphone hears anything. All of the music ends up on that vocal track. It is clearly some kind of software loopback. This was a long time ago, have you come across this? Do you have any solutions
@@IbandUK sir, can i ask something? What do you think better to apply in recording vocal? I have phantom power and promac v8 soundcard. And maono mic condenser. Thanks☺️☺️ God bless

Really nice. How do I balance my vocals with the instrumental because at times the instrumentals seems to be louder than my voice
