Motorcycle Ride to Tan Hill via Buttertubs Pass including Drone footage, Fat Lad on a Bike

  • In this episode we ride through the Yorkshire Dales National Park through Bolton Abbey onto Burnsall where we stop off at the Red Lion Hotel and Manor House.
    After a very scenic break we continue on through Grassington and onto Kettlewell where we have another quick break.
    Next its onto Hawes and then ride the Buttertubs Pass where we stop and look at the 20-metre-deep (66 ft) limestone potholes called the Buttertubs. It is said that the name of the potholes came from the times when farmers would rest there on their way to market. During hot weather they would lower the butter they had produced into the potholes to keep it cool.
    And finally this amazing route of breathtaking roads and scenery finishes at the Tan Hill Inn.
    The Tan Hill Inn is the highest inn in the British Isles at 1,732 feet (528 m) above sea level.
    And makes a good subject for the DJI Mavic Pro drone footage I managed to take. Enjoy !!! AND PLEASE SUBSCRIBE BELOW

    Your mate mentioned Paul Longdon….. I played alongside him for Leeds City Boys. He is originally from Woodkirk in Leeds. As he said, long time Scunthorpe player. Didn’t realized he ended up in that part of the world….. was nearby last week doing. Similar ride to yourselves from Bolton.

    Hi Steve, I really enjoyed this video, I live close to the Yorkshire Dales and you made me think how lucky I am. As soon as the weather improves (its been sleeting/raining outside today) I'm off up to Tan Hill. By the way that dry river is the upper reaches of the river Wharfe. In the Summer it often appears dry because the terrain is limestone which has lots of cracks and fissures and when water levels are low the river flows underground. There are lots of caves in the area like "Buttertubs" because of the limestone , all the best

    Ahh .... the Summer, I remember it well... Great video Steve. Lovely drone work and photography as always. Incidentally, for your mate with the Street Triple the original clamps on the coolant hoses are known to be a problem, plenty about it on the internet.

      @paullee6663 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha Ha !! I think it will bother him one day if his bike keeps taking a 'wee' and he never tops the coolant back up...! I've not seen the clamps but apparently it's difficult to get them tight enough to stop any leaks without overtightening them and crushing / fracturing the hoses?? Used to work around cars in a previous life...seen too many Head Gaskets blown and worse from overheating to ignore leaking rads / hoses.
