Hi. Thanks for the video - it was interesting to see what the "colleague" was doing. Congratulations that everything worked. In your case, you were lucky that the cards are "regular" mining edition. There is also a special version, where other chips are used and the PCI-Express is limited (soldered) to x1. They do not work under Windows, even if you flash a regular "gaming" firmware. I assume that the proprietary driver reads some configuration bits from the chip, and thus sees that the chip is special "for computing only". I have this type of a card from ebay. It does not work under Windows. But it works like a regular 570 in Linux after flashing correct firmware :) And on the HDMI lines, it is not a filter, but something like "termination", it pulls the lines to the ground. But in general, the ideas presented in the video are correct, and the minimum working option is 3.3-5.1 ohm resistors in the left column + 100 nF capacitors in the right (they are not present on all cards, and sometimes they need to be soldered)
Hi, i currently flashed a sapphire Rx 470 8gb mining edition card but there is still UKNOWN’S. Gpu and memory clock remain at 0 MHz. Could you please help me? Thank you in advance 😅
I got two 8gb mining cards and performed the HDMI resistor addition based on a Japanese channel's instruction. Unfortunately, both of the cards were also limited to pciex1 sure to missing filter capacitors for the other lanes, and one of them had a really strange issue: HDMI works, but if you use it in Windows, the driver crashes. Yet you can use it headless in Windows just fine, just bottlenecked by passing through the display. And it works with no issue in Linux even with the HDMI. Ended up being the ideal candidate for an egpu box because of these limitations.
@@framerate_is_life all that i have engraved on the bracket is 105300 2 on the back the sticker is PN S88 WE353 G30BC SKU 11256-76 Thanks for the other comment with more info on these. Do you know what the ideal value of the filter capacitors for the other PCIe lanes is?
can you run it through the motherboard hdmi if you have an igpu or maybe through a second gpu like an old hd5450 ? also maybe can you try an rx590 bios on it ? :D
This is fantastic, thank you. Is this the same BIOS reflash procedure for RDNA Cards as well? I have an RX 5700 (non-xt) GPU that has a mining BIOS on it and I get no video output. Was told I need to use that BIOS software tool you showed, in order to fix it.
theres different versions of the amd flash / ati flash that work with varying cards. Check this link www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/amd-ati-flash-command-line-cmd-syntax-mini-guide-windows.291671/
Really good video. Always good to see these mining cards converted to be usable outside mining

Great work
any difference in the output with properly soldering the required resistors?

Hello. Can you write here, in comments, GPU model? It is written (laser engraved) on the metal GPU "frame". Look for a string like a 215-xxxxxxx

Unfortunately I can't find any engraving like that. Are there any other indicators I could look for? @@framerate_is_life
Try a different bios.
@@myne00 already tried many different bioses on techpowerup
SSID mismatched, what should I do?
will this soldering trick work in an asus p106-100(gtx 1060 6g)? It also has a hidden hdmi behind the mount plate.
I have a P106-100, it only reads PCIe x 16 1.1.Is it possible for me to do this and have it readable on PCIe X 16 3.0?
only 41 views? this deserves 100
Other solution is to solder the DVI Port.
I get 150 fps on cs2 with a ryzen 3600 and a 5600xt on low settings. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure the 590 bios will work on it but i'll try the 580 2048SP bios on it

Not 100% sure if you can add display outputs to it but you might be better off using windows power options with the ports on your motherboard
DUDE , lay the components on with Flux , and use a Heat gun to solder it ,, WOW dude , ,, WOW REALLY ???
Why tf are you so angry about it????? You couldve just calmly said it and you might have got pinned
