Sean Meads I'd say he's top 5 from the younger generation (around 40, or below) of actors. I don't mean just movie stars, I mean those who really have a diverse body of work and are able to inhabit different characters (for example, someone like Michael Fassbender is very, very good, but he's not really good at inhabiting different people. His mannerisms seldom change.). These guys would qualify as best current actors IMO: Joaquin Phoenix (Master, Her) Tom Hardy (Bronson, Warrior, Dark Knight Rises, Locke) Ryan Gosling (Lars and the real girl, Half Nelson, Drive) Gyllenhaal is there for sure, especially after last few years - End of Watch, Prisoners, Enemy, Nightcrawler, Southpaw. Very different performances. The man is growing.
