I like the pace and content of this video. It’s relaxing to watch; compared to “The Explore Life” ripping up the beach at night on a high tide and doing frantic high powered recoveries. Viewers respect a genuine info vid with few challenges to test our skills.

Honestly reminds me of Roothys old videos back when it was 4wd Monthly, just about getting out there and enjoying our beautiful country. Not about extremes, not about breaking your 4wd and ripping up the environment you’re driving on. Absolutely love this channel

Never in doubt. The stock TD42 never had issues until people started pushing bigger tyres, boost and blocking up the front with winches and lights. I remember learning to drive at 15 on the beach in our GQ with pizza cutters without a drama.

Thank you for mentioning that permits are required to drive on those beaches!
My "Highlux" go to pressure on the beach is 14psi.
Another little tip is, when stopping just let your vehicle stop without using the brakes. That helps to reduce the chance of bogging.
    Great video!

I only recently discovered your videos and I'm really enjoying them. Also love Crowdy Bay NP. As a young one my family and i spent every school holidays living at Kylies beach and fished every day for our dinner. We stopped going when the amenities and running water went in at the camp area in the late 90's and it became unpleasantly crowded and noisy.

RE washing your 4WD afterwards, after a pressure wash its always a good idea to do a final rinse with dilutes salt neutraliser. One brand is called Salt Away which can be diluted in a cheap Bunnings spay bottle attached to your hose.Get it inside your rails and around your window and doors. This product is available from Whitworths as Boaties use it in a stronger mix to flush out their engines after a trip.

    • @gqwarrior6694

Agreed. High pressure anywhere there's moving mechanical parts is a bad idea in general. Fantastic way to damage seals, wash grease out of bearings & mess with electrical components. Super easy to remove wax or even damage paint if you don't know what you're doing to. Especially with the top quality paint jobs manufacturers were giving us in the 90's.

It's good to see that many beaches are still open to 4WDs in your area. Where I live, less and less are allowed, and the ones that are still open, require fees (which are increasing exponentially every year). Once again, it's a case of the idiocy of a few, has ruined it for the many.

follow the wheel tracks from the other vehicles. the sand is compacted.
i.e. morton island has only 4 tyre tracks. Kgari - Fraser island a million tracks

Nice vid it wouldn't hurt to remove the sump and slot in a new set of bearings on the crank. If it's a high milage eng it will have worn the big end bearings. Not hard to do and very inexpensive. I found gu + 200 kg coils work very well on a gq as this upgrade is 400kg on a gq.

    • @gqwarrior6694
      @gqwarrior6694 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Unless the big end is leaking, leave if tf alone. 400kg coils in a GQ huh? You should be more specific. 400kg variable MIGHT be ok but probably still too harsh. 400kg constants & it'll be like there is no suspension unless it's loaded to the hilt with tools etc. A GU set up is not even remotely comparable to a GQ set up.

The Echindna had obviously been pancaked by a 4WD and was in distress, possibly broken back.
You need to be aware of local wildlife and the ph # of the local wildlife rescue service.
For someone who is making their living from Australia's great outdoors you really should cannot afford to be so ignorant of this basic awareness.
You need to focus more on promoting conservation so your kids and your audience can enjoy what you have been afforded.

IMHO TD42 has to be one of the worst engines to expect reliability, especially if turboed. Expect trouble and endless costs chasing cracked heads, cracked blocks, harmonic balancer issues even busted cranks. Great for parts suppliers and engine rebuilders but not good for you're wallet. We learnt the hard way with our 2nd major rebuild in 12 months over 2 cars. My view is that the TD42 is an engine to avoid if you are chasing reliable power!
