Hydraulics by Citroen. (Sit-trun) Uses RR363, or Castrol LHM hyd fluid Refurbish entire system is easy $20k. Earlier cars had all 4 wheels with hyd shocks. Later is rear only. Ticking is normal when cold for a few seconds. Its both of the brake system pumps. They run off the cam. In center V of engine. Love the video. Classic VB!
For cold start on the Shadow, depress the gas petal once to set the choke then you are good. This is what I did with my 74 Shadow (that is what I was instructed to do by some trusted RR people back in the day. The temp control when you pull out changes volume of air provided and is independent of air velocity (fan speed.)
Hi, have enjoyed your video, here all the way in the Caribbean on the island of Curacao! Will follow you! Take care of that car! Mr. GR of Dallas series was always driving a Mercedes Bens, when I was a young boy, I loved to see every Sunday night the Dallas series! I have seen the whole series and that made me go to the USA in 1986. But being an islander living in paradise I quickly realize what I left here on this island in the tropics, and after 2 years came back!😃
I always enjoy how genuine you are in your videos. I wish you were closer to my area cause it would be fun to meet you at a car show and talk cars! I also fully agree with your view point on EVs!
Great commentary Bob. I'm glad that you share my opinion on cars. Even the newer gas cars will not age well because of all of the specialized electronics.
I had beans on toast today - cannot beat it. Nice the rolls still does things better than many cars today - like a very nice ride. Harry M commented on that. Reminds me I should watch his trip the arctic again, that was a great adventure, worth watching a second time.
Loved this video Bob! As my older friend in Orlando would say, 'Driving a Rolls Royce is like driving a marshmallow down the road.' 🤣 He owns a couple of them!
I have 4 Shadows (love them)! The only difference between RR363 brake fluid and regular dot3 is Castrol added a lubricant! Many of us are now making our own brake fluid. We add about 10% castor oil to each quart of regular dot3. Having used it for 10 years, I have seen no negatives! Using the castor oil additive is known as YAK363.
Hey Bob I must confess I was rocking with you for a little while ago I’m kind 0:01 of bored but when I seen this video eating at McDonald’s and you said don’t judge me remind me of my cousin so much -he past on- keep doing what you doing bro😂
I understand the allure of EV's. No need for gas and less moving parts to wear out. No need for oil changes, no check engine lights for a tiny emissions leak etc. But the internal combustion engine really is a work of art. How all those parts work together just like the moving parts of a fine swiss watch.
When I visited Southfork in the mid 80s, I had my Aunt take a picture of me leaning over a bit with my right hand resting on the drivers side fender. The car parked next to it was a Lincoln Mark V. When the picture was taken, both cars were very dusty and one of them had a couple of flat tires. They were clearly neglected. I still have the picture. Now I get to see the Rolls Royce again!
Late to the show, here, but in the past year Bob, have you looked into your oil pressure readings? Pegged the needle in this video. Have you also taken half an hour to clean your "Flame trap?" It's located just underneath the latch for your oil filler cap. A dirty or clogged trap will lead to increased crankcase pressure which results in more leaks. Super-easy job.
VB, I did enjoy it immensely!! Please do go through my Great Aunt’s Car!! It deserves it all by itself but her memory needs to be honored too!! I don’t know, really, if we’re related but sharing the same last name means we’re related at some point and most likely sooner than to every other person on the planet!! But that’s a beautiful Silver Shadow and deserves the full Love Treatment. Get all of the leaks fixed and get a full service done at the same time. Thanks again for the fun video!!
You are abolutlely right in saying "watch this video twenty years from now" - and see, if they get batteries and spare parts for their EVs. Especially the electronic modules will be tricky to analyze in twenty years time.
If you end up replacing the seals for the suspension, I wonder if it's feasible to put different seals in to where you could just use regular DOT 3 brake fluid. I believe your wood dash is laminate. (They still used real wood but they glued a fancier wood on top. Your newer Rolls-Royce is built the same way.) If you just start sanding you'll sand through. A cabinet maker that specializes in antique furniture might be able to stabilize your panels.
I really love these early Silver Shadows. Their interiors were wonderful, what with the chrome door pulls and the picnic tables and such. I never understood why they changed the interior the way they did. I had assumed the tables were eliminated for safety regulations, so it was a pleasant surprise when they were brought back during the Silver Spirit model years. The other thing that I love on the early Shadows are the chrome bumpers. The safety bumpers on the later Shadows are so ugly to my eyes that even if I had the money to buy one I wouldn't even consider it. It's astonishing tome that you got this for 10,000.00! I hope you will be able to fix this car up, as such restored Shadows (particularly the "chrome bumper" models) I'm sure will appreciate in value, much like the Silver Clouds have done. (When I die I want to be buried in a white '65 Silver Cloud III, facing east. I'm taking it with me😇). Delightful video!
Hey Bob may I make a suggestion on your Rolls-Royce I think you need to get some mink oil and do some leather work on it the leather looks awful dry? That mink oil will really make that leather look soft and supple keep it from getting so cracked it looks very dry for my point of view? Other than that the car could use a good detail the White Walls weren't very white needed some nice tire dressing on there you should have had it detail before you go take it to a car show but that's just me still looked beautiful LOL
Amazingly detailed and interesting video Bob, any news on the gates for the front of your house? I hope you aren't still having problems from the local homeless folk. Thanks for the video cant wait to see you in the boat on the lake
Agree with 100% of everything you said. Reports and stats prove that its greener to keep a classic car on the roads than produce a throw-away EV. There is way more carbon emission in producing an EV with its non-env-friendly batteries than keeping your RR or a 60s Mustang on the road.
You may have a dead cylinder. I heard it while you were cranking it over. You might want to do a compression test on all the cylinders. It could be a loose spark plug, a bent pushrod or a bent/burnt valve, or a head gasket leak. If you find a cylinder that is down, pop the valve cover and check on the pushrod, then look and see if both valves come up to the same level when closed (turn the engine over until this happens). Make certain that the valve tips sit at the same level as other cylinders (this checks for a bent valve). Check the oil, if you see anything that looks like white or gray foam on the dipstick - this is an indicator of a blown head gasket. Your exhaust leak may just be indicator that a burnt valve is pumping the contents of that cylinder into the exhaust system without combustion.
As you're already aware (I'm not trying to be a smart ass lol) molten lead was poured into the panel joints then fettled to smooth out. In the 1980s I was an apprentice Toolmaker at 'Press Steel Fisher' (PSF Cowley Oxford) which made the panels then spot welded together to form the body shell, work carried out within a separate building in Oxford just for Rolls Royce, god knows if the 'leaders' lived that long! The completed bodyshells were then transported by lorry up to Vickers Rolls Royce works in Crewe NW England to be fitted out as cars. I must admit it did seem a bit odd Rolls Royce's being made by PSF alongside domestic fridge panels and the like............PSF is long gone now but the site is where BMW makes their MINIs.
I’m just sitting here wondering what Judas Priest would sound like pumping out of the speakers of that Rolls. I bet the makers of Rolls Royce never thought in a million years that Video Bob Mosely would be cruising around in that car.
Bob, I always love your vidéos. But today, shame on how dirty your car is inside. A RR doesn’t merit that. I’m sorry but it had to be said cause I love so much those RR. God bless them for life !!!
Cool car! Looks like the steering linkage is a little loose, by the steering wheel movement going straight. What's that switch and wires on the transmission tunnel, under the radio? Jayman...
Really enjoy your videos. My friend and I are planning on going to Vegas in early February. Any chance we can have a tour of Vegas in your Rolls Royce? 😃
Be very careful when refinishing the dash panel. Those veneers are very easy to destroy. You may want to look at some youtube videos on how to refinish them.
Really stupid question : Are you sure your radio doesn't use tubes. Like you have to leave it on for a few minutes and wait for it to warm up. 67 was kinda late for that, but you never know.
Man, the Crown and Anchor on Trop, they have been on dirty dining more times than I can count over the years, that particular location is rather dirty, which is fine because its very old. Never had any bad food out of there though.

I'm not sure when baked beans became part of a "traditional" English breakfast but they weren't 30 or 40 years ago. It used to be egg, bacon and fried bread. If sausages and black pudding were available, you might get those as well. You might also get toast and marmalade as a separate course. Beans on toast would be served at tea time or supper time if you didn't have much money or it might just be a light tea time snack for those who had their main meal at lunch. English style baked beans were never traditionally served at breakfast, and they are never served with steak.

Every time I watch one of your videos I have to watch a Pantera home video. You're a legend .
Great to see someone in sunny Las Vegas appreciate the imperfections of a British car and breakfast. As a Brit in rainny England it has cheered me up.

I was fortunate enough to be able to drive a '69 Long Wheelbase Shadow years ago. It was RHD. Silver over black with black top. Smooth as glass.
Great commentary Bob. I'm glad that you share my opinion on cars. Even the newer gas cars will not age well because of all of the specialized electronics.
Probably the most real car guy channel on the 'tube! If you're eating, driving or remodeling, we will watch! Love every minute!

Or could just be the hydraulic pump, like I said it was, because it's quiet as a mouse when it warms up.
Wish I would have known u were going I would have taken our 1975 Silver Shadow stretch
What colour is your LWB?
Beautiful car enjoy thanks love the speed boat definitely matches you do you fit in it? LOL
would be a great series if you did a restoration on this rolls. do it some justice

I was just thinking that. In the Vegas heat would he consider tinting the windows of the Rolls Royce? Or is that frowned upon?
Good clip. Where was the bacon and black pudding with the English breakfast 😂
Great enjoyable video 👍
