How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Not Charging

- Samsung Galaxy S8 plus comes with high quality but still there have been certain cases where people have had issues with their Samsung Galaxy not charging properly. In this video Samsung S8+ can't charge problem is caused by faulty PMIC. The PMIC could be easily damaged because of incompatible charging device and user's bad charging habits. Therefore, the damaged PMIC leads to abnormal status of charging circuit, which results in not charging issue of the phone. Confirm the fault component by running voltage measurement of charging circuit first. Then complete the repairing work by replacing the charging PMIC.Let's check the video to see how to fix Samsung Galaxy S8 plus won't charge.

What maybe the problem of my s8. It charge when it is on only. When it is off it only shows that its charging but the charging percent dont rise. And its fast charging also not working. Normal charging only. Thanks

all joking aside, if it charges inductively... try brushing out/cleaning the usb port. this has worked MANY times for me, even with my laptops and desktops.

Started using my mini usb converter that came with the phone and the lightning charger that it came with as well and no problems now.

I have the same issue with this phone I just bought it for my daughter on eBay and it's doing that. Do u think they could fix it like u did on the video where they fix phones. Do u think it's expensive. Cause if it is I would rather buy her another phone.. what u think? By the way very good video thanks!!!
Lencho21 did you buy it brand new also eBay good buy but remember always go for new not used nor open box also not Samsung why because they have charging issues most of them also Samsung does this so you go ahead and buy their wireless charger
My s8 refuses to fast charge and has other usb related issues like pulling power over otg causes extremely rapid battery drop would that be something on the io daughterboard or on the motherboard

Not sure if this will help anyone but when my phone does this and won't charge. I use a charging pad first. the light on the pad will signal that it is charging but not on the phone. Then I plug in my regular charger. Keeping the phone on the charging pad the whole time. Using both chargers. The lighting bolt signaling charging should appear. It will stay with just the symbol for a bit then will actually start charging. I do this everything my phone won't turn on or charge. Hope it helps. And it really does work. Might make a video next time I have to do it.

shak1978 bhagoban Well... alcohol is not water. Water proof means exactly that... it's "Water-Proof" and Dust Resistant. It also wont hold off every type of water. Salt water for example most likely still will get in and/or (at least) corode stuff.
It is waterproof but not alcohol proof. The alcohol is actually used to soften the adhesive and then we need to use an opening pick to slice through the phone and get it disassembled.

Tech guy i just need to ask on my Samsung S8+ my phone has been fine all of a sudden when i charge my phone charges 100% but saying 100% but doesn't turn green when fully charged so tryed and old charging cable to a new charging cable but same thing is still happening i am shore if it's the plug or the phone woundering if you can help thanks
Only alcohol to open the back cover ? Do you need heat at all ! Because on ifixit they said you need to use a heat gun to dissolve the adhesive .!
Heat has to be used or u risk breaking back glass

You can do it either way. We usually use alcohol, N-hexane, or heat gun to dissolve or soften the adhesive. Like @Semo jook said, the phone in this video has been disassembled before.
Not world ending but be extra careful if you do try to remove this IC, it has clear underfill and does NOT come of as easily as is shown. I assume they had already removed it once.
They are smart to advise protecting the CPU from any excess heat. These Samsung boards can take a crap ton of heat before letting go of a chip so be wary.
hello I have a similar problem G950U I have arrived in April the PMIC shield but here I have the voltage V5.16 and v4.66 but the battery is not charged, I tried a new charging flex but it doesn't work what I recommend to try
I got the same problem here, my PMIC has output voltage of 5ish too, but the battery does not charge, i have all the signals of battery charging, but no voltage at the battery connector. Wondering whether someone can shed some light. I checked some capacitors down close to the IC 98506BEWV and they look shorted, wondering if this IC could be the problem.

REWA how did you solder on the new chip. You didn't add any bga solder to the board before putting on the new chip after you removed ALL the old solder

Hi Shaun Deonarine. We usually apply BGA solder flux to the board before soldering. For this video, you may have missed 5:58s. Which you can check again.
So the actual new solder comes on the chip?
That's a new chip with tin balls on it. The tin balls on the chip will be connected with the pads on the board. So the solder paste is applied to help with the contact of the chip and board when soldering. Is this what you mean?
always use original charger, atleast use qualcomm certified quick charge to make sure fast charging working properly.

First of all I am fully trusting on myself that I can not trust myself for a task of this caliber, then even if I could, how do I believe you are showing the right thing here and not a hocks like many other YTers that only try to gather subscribers and number for their clips. Sam Sen did it not occur to you that this guide is for mobile phone repair shops? you being a regular guy won't take the chance to do it and because of that you will spend hundreds to get a new phone when you could pay bout $80 to have someone fix your $1000 phone
This video helped me realize that I will not be doing it myself. I don't think a thumb's down is warranted for not wanting to do it their way, instead it was informative on how tedious and difficult the process was.
i took my s8 to a repair shop and they showed me the new battery that they inserted into the phone and it turned on but it does't charge. they said there could be another problem but it would cause serious issues to the hardware and damage the phone completely so i didn't take risk and only told them to bring the phone together and leave the new battery. i payed $120 for this. help!!!!!??? i literally can't afford a new phone. i don't feel like bothering my parents with it.
Try to replace a new charging port first, and then check the charging IC. It would be better to turn to a local repair shop.
For manufacturers will be great if they use screws on the back and no sticky tape will be allowed as this tape loose the chemistry after 3-5 year. I like when things design to last so no firmware upgrade torture like apple does or running high current in small Bga packages then no wonder why all the ic fail if the body of the parts and I side the printing on silicon is weak

This is all a lot of nonsense. My Galaxy 8 plus phone wouldn't charge with the original charger and cable (after 3 years' owndership), so THEN I simply charged it in my Mophie Juice pack, and voila; it's charging.

Are you using the same cable? If it is the same cable you applied, maybe the plug adapter is not working. If it is not the same cable, then, maybe the cable with adapter is not working.

These stupid TH-cam videos makes it look so easy when in fact I tried doing this on 2 motherboards and failed with both. I don't know if I couldn't align the chips properly or what the problem was but this is extremely complicated! I also have a shaky hand and I accidentally moved all tiny SMDs on both boards. This is impossible for me.
