Today I take delivery of a Supra that was once on fire! But this is no ordinary Supra...it seems to have a big single turbo and a few other parts throughout the car. Lets take a closer look and see what we find!
His other mk4 supra up on the lift watching him bring in another supra like "damn he abandoned me"

The reason insurance companies almost always total fire cars is because of heat damage. It can get to 1200 degs under a hood very quickly. Precision aluminum parts can warp at 300 degrees. There are a lot of factors that go into IF something will be bad. How long was the high temps under the hood, Was the engine already hot before the fire? It takes a lot longer to heat up a intake or cylinder head if the engine is near cold also if the motor is already sitting a 210 deg if will heat to 350 deg much faster. One of the things I would look for is how the bolts come out. If they come out real easy you have a problem there is a good chance something swelled enough to stretch the bolt. Paint burning like that is not a good sign.
well you could see in the video the hood was propped so most of the heat was able to escape and it was also depend on what bolts they check because something like arp head studs are made to stretch after torqued to spec
@@peik_haikyuu2265the clip at the start of the video is from a completely different car. They just took a random clip from TH-cam. Just search 1320video Supra fire and it pops right up. That being said the fire looks really localised on this car, doesn't look bad at all.

Well I just learned some things about the 2JZ that I wasn't too sure about before. So they are almost exactly the same type of power figures and mod ability as the BMW N54 engines are. The Manual trans will hold a lot more power than the Autos Like 1000 vs about 700 max before strengthening is required. Same as the engines. Interesting.

Its probably pushing around 500 to 600. The auto trans can hold around that much as long as you don't launch at every red light. Almost had the same setup in a auto so that's how I know lol
Those are the early hks cam gears. Hks made a version 2 because the ones with the blue teeth wear away to a sharp edge and we’re snapping timing belts. It’s a big no no to run those cam gears

I would like to see a proper inhouse restoration build, similar to the 240sx (R34 dont count because that was like 90% outsourced😅) . The NSX sadly feels like a budget "band-aid" build.
The auto gearbox holds about 500hp at the crank. After that they destroy themselves. I have blown two up. However, if you build them, they can hold upwards of 1200hp.
If you were to keep it and build it, atfspeed in florida is where I get my parts from (even though I'm in the uk).
There doesn't look to be anything special parts wise with that supra to be honest...

that automatic transmission might be built allready... if it had aftermarket ecu, flexfuel, that big of a intercooler, arp studs... might be 6-700hp.
My auto handled 600whp for 3 years. Just no throttle during shifts and multiple coolers. Now I'm built a340e with billet sprag and a 3800ip converter. I have a built C&C motorsports transmission.

Check the VIN, the way that intake was mod'd it could be a NA-T setup.
Looks like an welded on plenum from xs power. These weld onto a portion of na 2jz to remove the cross over manifold.

Cleaned up great!!! Looks like it’s got the newer taillights can’t really tell! If so that’s a plus! I say you take your Supra and swap out your motor and trans and build that motor and get a transmission and put it in your original Supra! The targa top is sick!!! But I couldn’t get rid of a right hand drive true JDM Supra! I couldn’t get rid of either but the Supra is my Dream Car!!! Maybe if I sell a kidney and a lung I can buy one! 😂😂😂

I think TJ should keep the burnt up mark on supra it looks like heart and it will have a backstory after rebuilding it.
Reminds me when i had my Supra and all the mods i did, I actually still have the stock turbos, manifold and sequential intake system! I need to sell them!

Tj just an fyi I know with the rear hatch glass after you wash it you want to blow out all of the water that has collected under the weather stripping or it will rust over time

If I had to take a guess, part of the engine harness touched a very hot exhaust manifold and all hell broke loose
That burnt spot on the hood is a sign that it should have a hood exhaust right where the burnt mark is

Copart employees tend to jack things from cars, might not be the owner who took those parts. Parts that are visible on the auction page are hard to steal but those that are not visible, where, you can't know if it's missing or not until you buy the car and check it.

I've never personally liked Supras, I just never drew into the hype, but I FULLY respect the power and reliability they put out, its such a solid platform. Nevertheless I'm keen to see what you guys do with this badboy, maybe you can convert me :p

I'd actually swap the engine and trans from your manual MK4 supra into this chasis and have a left hand drive mk4 manual supra.
