I am a Christian but from watching this documentary and reading Ethics in Buddhism, I have come to admire Buddist principles of compassion for the poor, respect, shunning evil and purifying the mind .
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. The values of Buddhism and those of Jesus are often similar, Jesus had great compassion for those were poor, ill and suffering, as Buddha did. Another principle of Buddhism is that of loving-kindness.
Don't expect anything from anyone, you are responsible for your own development ... budha didn't teach any spirituality or external power... Very powerful....... Soully beautiful one
Buddha hold the truth ,look at today world of suffering over Christian God politc and evil there joy in the world cause them self suffering ,because it do not last forever
Yes it is possible, it is usually a long journey toward becoming more enlightened. Also we don't have to strive for it, through meditation and mindfulness it happens gradually. I hope you enjoy the journey.
My comment is this. Why in all these videos are shown only Theravada tradition monks? The largest sect in numbers is Mahayana and the largest sect in Mahayana is Pure Land. I have seen none devoted to Pure Land. I am not taking issue with the Theravada tradition but with the people who are making the videos.
. the angle you looking not correct. Think like this... Can you give anything to others if you dont have. Like that you mine should filled with love then you can love others

Can I please have the publication details of this documentary. Who was the director and when was it made?
It may take some time to find that information, if you don't back from me in a month, please remind me ☺
Lauren Byrne You can find info on IMDB.
Read the credits at end. It is all there.
This monk is "Balangoda Ananda Maitreya" Thero lived in Sri Lanka, an this video is in 70s or 80s I think.

The 'video' was made over 40 years ago. You have no grounds to take issue with it my friend.
40 years ago Mahayana was still much larger than Theravada and Pure Land still was the largest tradition. So your comment is not valid.

simple reason, you do one thing at a time

No issues here..all are walking the Buddha's path.
Religious labels aren't important..
Fell asleep
Completely disagree with the love of self idea. Buddha never taught love of self.
Love ya self first!! Then spread that love to others!!
