French nuclear tests irradiate an iguana into a giant monster that viciously attacks freighter ships in the Pacific Ocean. A team of experts, including Niko Tatopoulos, conclude that the oversized reptile is the culprit. Before long, the giant lizard is loose in Manhattan as the US military races to destroy the monster before it reproduces and it's spawn takes over the world.

“I don’t think I can shake him!”
You’re a helicopter. Fly up.
facts XD
Someone said in another video of this chase scene that if he did try to fly up he would lose speed, and godzilla would just jump at him
@@m0istur exactly that man, you trade speed for altitude
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
Ascending will make him lose some distance between him and Godzilla, and considering how he's right on his tail, the guy can't afford to give up _any_ ground.
Zilla must join the Monsterverse, he can be sub-species of Gojira living in the Hollow Earth.
I can 100% confirmed that every military solider will always have stormtrooper aim and never make it out alive
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
It's not that they aren't hitting him, it's that he's so big that the rounds don't really harm him
"Jimmy, you know that bad feeling I get when something's really bad is gonna happen? "
"Yeah?"
"I'm getting that feeling right now man"
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
3:01 Godzilla: "Are you guys looting?" Steps on their truck as punishment.
@@indygeo4267 If only Godzilla would step on them right away
Listen to his feeling, Jimmy
This movie was so fun to watch in the theatre.

I Saw It twice, had the Toy, the VHS. Damm this Movie IS part of my childhood.
This is my all time favorite variant of Godzilla The 1998 Godzilla rules. 🦖🤟🔥🔥
fav godzilla, fav movie, fav promos and toys, needs wayyy more recognition, this was dope back in the day! a sequal cause of the last egg in the end
@@YoungAmzn Totally agree 🤟🦖
You guys need serious help.
@@Gmk4667 Nah you do
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
when you realize that the army caused more damage than godzilla wtf... 🤣🤣🤣
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
First, it's Zilla now.
Second, for a Godzilla movie, even in name only, ironic. Lol.
@@FMAChetNo, the 1998 film still retains the Godzilla name and copyright, so it’s still a version of Godzilla.
The one in Final Wars is Zilla
@@DarianTheDinosaur True, but since 2004, the creature has been mostly mentioned as Zilla, as the Rulers of Earth comics for example.
Yes, the film is the same title, but everyone knows nowadays knows as Zilla, regardless of copyright.
I’m not gonna lie watching this as a kid I was totally on Godzilla’s side
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
I think you’ve already asked me that before but yes I did
We all were my dude, we all were. Heck, my little brother even cried the first time he watched this when Godzilla died.
@
I was crying myself so I don’t blame your brother
Me too . me too😂
Zilla is literally the definition of a bull in a china shop. They did at most, minimal damage to their surroundings while the military destroyed everything else. 😂
"He did all this and we did nothing to him."
"Oh that's not true - You fed him."
I have always loved that line. A wonderful mix of sarcasm and optimism.
I always found amazing those helicopters navigating through the streets of the city
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
They destroyed the daily bugle. 0:17
THE BUGLE, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Also the The Continental heh.
Flatiron Building actually
@@MUGGINS761 yeah but it’s called the daily bugle in Sam Rami’s Spider-Man
And I'm sure it will still somehow be Spider-Man's fault.
1:58 When Godzilla is taking cover, the Apache fires 2 missiles, and the pilot realizes that Godzilla is ducking cover the missiles is destroying the Chrysler Building
I’m sure actual AH-64 pilots from the 90s were laughing away at this scene. Hell they’re not using TADS or the monocle sighting system.
Sometimes the army be causing damage by trying to kill the monsters. Zilla wasn't even attacking the city fr. I'm not gonna say he wasn't destroying it, cuz obviously thats what Godzilla does.
One of my favorite movies as a kid, even had the "godzilla" toy with a push-button monster scream from the movie. hahaha
But yeah i never watched or was interested in this movie in the years after.
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
Omg, my older brother had that toy and I commandeered it and, according to him and my mom, I would talk to it about EVERYTHING, from how my day went to the injustices of the world (so I am told), repeatively pressing the button to make him roar in response to me.
Wow, memory unlocked. Thank you for that.
@@ariadnefrolich7243
Best Godzilla ever.
Super underrated movie. Gets better with age.
So Godzilla can step on buildings and use them as stairs but two small missiles can destroy the Chrysler building?
Depending on their payload yes.
He apparently can change his thermal image. Which interfered with the missiles.
@@codyraney6869 I didn't know that hellfire missiles could destroy buildings, tanks yes, but I didn't think they are powerful enough to take down a skyscraper like the Chrysler building.
You know this is a science fiction movie right?? None of this is real….. actually I’m fairly certain Godzilla doesn’t even exist and most of these people here are called actors…… crazy times
@@Maverick-2202 Obviously, but I am asking as a comparison to a real apache helicopter. I could be wrong, but I don't think real hellfire missiles can do that much structural damage in a real war scenario to a skyscraper building. I think it is special effects.
With something so massive, they can't land even a single shot on him.
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
It only took until the film's ending to get the killing shot on him
Bullets, yes.
Missiles, no.
Because of his speed and invasive maneuvers
They probably hit him several times but it was probably like trying to stop a charging rhino with a BB gun
Bro, the aim 💀
They tried to excuse the missiles missing him with godzilla, somehow being cold-blooded(even though a lizard that big wouldn't be cold-blooded anymore, not even counting the radiation in its body), but it's still nonsensical because they could've just used normal missiles.
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
How do the Humvees with 50Cal miss that giant Lizard? But still was a great movie back in the time.
This design may not work as Godzilla but you have to admit the roar is so epic especially here 5:27
Makes wonder how they all became military man. The fact they cannot aim and caused so much property damage is remarkable, enough to get them discharged and fired.
The surround sound on this movie is beyond anything I've ever experienced. Only war movies like Saving Private Ryan come close. The way the sound is constantly getting stomped by large impacts. Fucking awesome.
The Madison’s statue moments cracks me in two since a little kid.
I really hope they told the civilians to evacuate all the buildings 😅😅😂😂
2:07 Darwin: NOOOOOOOOOO!!
What collateral damage?
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
Tbh he totally could just be killing all the military at will but is choosing to run.
It's established that he has some intelligence beyond simple survival instincts, so I wouldn't be surprised if he deliberately chose to avoid killing outside of hunting and last resort self defense.
The hell were they shooting at. Their rounds were no where near on him
0:54-0:57 why does fire always roar in movies?
1:19 ya boi T-Bone is in charge
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
5:01
Looks like you didn’t lose him
The DoD and it's contractors have some really big questions to answer to the public... !
bro the f15
Dennis Nedry complaining haha saying the military caused more damage than Godzilla he destroyed Jurassic Park😂😂😂
4:31 Damn!
0:35 *RUN!*
Did guys hear him laugh
the millarty is going more damage then godzilla. funny.
Хоть фильм не настоящий но годзиллу жалко😮😮😮
I'm here because of Diddy
Wow…this movie has not aged well…
1:21 1인친~~~~~
Talk about completely missing the point. Once more, with feeling: Godzilla does not run away from people. People run away from Godzilla.
Worst shooting I’ve ever seen.
Sorry btsarmy7
They suck at aiming
WHY IS HE RUNNING LIKE A DINOSAUR
Because he is one?
Because director want Godzilla to be able run fast. They made one design that was more faithful to the original design but director wanted Godzilla to be able move much faster. Yeah, there was lot of problems and crazy stuff behind the scenes.
@@SnorgYippeeThis one’s an iguana.
@fedoratheexplorer6422 I'm just saying that because people complain that this Goji looks like a dinosaur even though he's been based on a dinosaur since 54
It seemed like a downgrade in special effects then. The plot and action and special effects did not age well.
how dare you.
Who cares? LOL
New Godzilla has the best CGI and is boring as hell
@@DinocrocutaGigantea I care
@@DinocrocutaGigantea So you don't care about CGI? I think it's part of the quality of a good monster movie.
Zilla '98 just wasn't good.
@@DinocrocutaGigantea its not boring, it's so fun to watch
Do you hear Godzilla stomping too? 1:36 - 1:40
why do you need to spam that tho.
This movie sucked big time. That’s not Godzilla at all 😂
I heard Toho made fun of this version of Godzilla in one of their later movies (much like pointing the mid finger at Emmerich).
@raymondyee2008 and yet, the director of this film was extremely happy that Zilla was acknowledged. He didn't even care that it was a metaphorical middle figure, he was just glad Zilla has been recognized. And, as a fan of both versions of Godzilla, I was happy about it too.
WORST GODZILLA MOVIE EVER!!!!!
