IMO too many motorcyclists are becoming too hung up on grossly over-powered bikes that are useless unless you own a race-track. Smaller bikes are light and quick handling and best of all you can zing through a few gears without going 200 mph into the rocks. Low purchase price and good mpg is nice too, and you get a lot of bike for the money.

gwwayner That is what an informed market does to you! Spot on!
Motoring here in India is still in its nascent stage especially in this genre! Hopefully better minds shall prevail!

I recently had taken the tnt 300 for a test ride and if anyone is unable to make a choice regarding this bike, i would say: "Please, do yourself a favour and take that test ride!"
    Here are my impressions:
    Looks & Basic features:
Pictures dont do justice since this really is a big bike. Coming from the old pulsar 150 (2002), i could feel a world of difference in the size and sheer mass of the bike. It looks smart with nice sculpted edges, bulb like headlamp up front. The brake levers and even the screws are anodized and feel good to look at. Tacho is analogue and the speedo is digital with engine temperature/time shown by default. Button quality is acceptable but it could have been implemented better. PS: It comes with hazard lights. It comes with LED indicators and tail lamps. Throttle will need to be wrung quite a bit back and might make a lot of people wish they had robotic arms.
    Weight & Other comments:
At 196kgs laden with all fluids, this isnt a light bike. However you wont feel this weight while riding. The tank is a good 16L tank with a good amount of bulk up front adding to its macho italiano look. Overall, it looks like a nice quality product. The bike is shod with 120/160 pirelli angel STs. A nice set of tyres, this.
    Concerns:
There seem to be a few concerns i have with the fit and finish.
=The headers could take a beating from stones which could be picked up by the tyres,
during monsoons, the low slung exhaust could get submerged (one of my biggest fears). Then there is a bigger gripe: ABS or rather, the lack of it.
= The horn is positioned really near to the radiator, i wonder if heat has a chance of killing it.
=No idea about the illumination provided by the headlamp
    =Doesnt have a main stand (:P)
    Ride impressions:
Comfortable seating for the rider. The legs have to go slightly behind than normal due to the footpeg positioning. Gear shifts are smooth but i had trouble bringing the bike to neutral (again, a personal issue). The bike does get hot in summer and you'll see 100 degrees on the MID quite frequently. The radiator kicks in at 90 degrees or thereabouts and you do feel this hot air swirling in between your thighs. God save you if you decide to ride with bermudas, you'll have a weird looking patch down there. I felt the routing of the heat out of the radiator could have been done somehow. Keeping in mind this is a naked, i'll let that slip.
Throttle response is crisp, i didnt feel the bike wanting to lift off into space as i wrung the throttle as i expected quite a bit of shunt. The bike isn't for the speed monster but rather, for someone who enjoys riding the bike with a great deal of calm and has a liking towards that lack of wobble or vibration. The duke pulls like no tomorrow but this is a bike that'll let you enjoy 'today'. This must be because those twin cylinders have dual O2 sensors(one on each header). It isnt extremely smooth though. I did observe two flat spots in torque delivery in the 3rd and 4th gear suggesting they were pretty tall. Couldn't go 5th/6th gear courtesy of test riding in the city. Overall, its a great bike for the city and seems like itll make a great tourer. The bonus comes along in the form of that lovely exhaust note from those twin cylinders with that 360 degree crank.

I really wish i could tag along with you guys on your reviews lol. There isn't a lot of activity down here with regards to reviews. I just decided to put this up since i just made my mind regarding this particular bike. Nothing in the 300 segment offers what this does. N300 - reliability and i could go and say the same about the Yamaha R3 too. The Z250 is quite expensive for what it offers but it is quite the looker. This has a nice posture which for me as a rider is pretty darn comfortable. Duke's seats are a joke and i feel the thickness of the seats could be compared to the thickness of lingerie ( not that i have experience in that department, which explains why i am riding bikes instead). Purely based on my experience on this bike, i'd say this one is mighty good atleast for considering when you are out in the market for a bike.
PS: You guys are the best thing to happen to the Indian motorcycling scene atleast according to me. Your style of reviews seem to appeal to me at least and am pretty certain there are multitudes of others who feel that way too (subscribed on two accounts lol). Also, thanks for your reply. Keep riding!

I'm from China where this TNT is built, because price is lower here Benelli managed to sell a lot of them(still, much less than Suzuki GW250) and I have the chance to see a lot of rider reviews. It has a not-so-good quality reputation and most people consider the Z250 to be a much more balanced bike.

    Great video and comparison!!
The Benelli looks amazing in flesh especially with those wide Pirelli tyres. Z250 has too much of fairing for a naked for my liking. I just wish the Benelli was a little lighter though. And I'm just totally sold on the exhaust note of that Benelli. Rev that throttle and you'll jizz in your pants. Great sound from that twin. Now I only wish to get to ride these 2 and put down my money.... on Benelli. Nice cameo by the KTM.
    Cheers!

Deep Tech Underground Yes well said! The TNT is on the heavier side but that will only mean much more stability on the highway. Also ABS is missing which as promised should be standard in the next iteration of all Benelli bikes. That sound tops it all. :D

I've been following your videos since PTR. It's amazing how much you have improved in this 3 years.
In that moment, your review was the main reason I bought a 200NS and not an R15 (not my first bike... not by an inch... but in my country Bajaj was not a well known brand yet, and your review convinced me of the quality of their new products)
Now I ride a Yamaha FZ6R, and you're assisting me again... but now in the decision of changing my car.
Can't wait for the moment when you start reviewing other kind of products, so I can buy with the backup of PD reviews (helmets? jackets? aftermarket maybe?)
Oh! And "the hand" of PD goes way around the globe... greetings from Santiago, Chile!

PowerDrift Nice to find that you also read every comment on your channel.I can tell that you have some very loyal fans in my country. India's best bikes are taking over the market here in Chile, and you are the best source of information about the new models for us.
Pulsar 200NS and Duke 200 are always disputing the first places in the -200cc national championships, so lots of potential buyers watch your videos trying to get some "user POV" about this and other bikes.
I wish you could see how much expectation we have here for the 400cc Pulsars, now that 390RC has arrived our country.
I'm focused in other kind of bikes right now (+650cc), but there are lots of fans waiting for those bikes.
(By the way, here in our country, Bajaj users are very hardcore about defending the brand in comparison with Dukes, little Yamahas and other bikes... they're nuts... we call them "Pulsar Lovers", hahaha)

Sarge, can you give some more details about the advantage/disadvantage of an offset monoshock? does it hamper stability or maybe some suspension issue with a pillion onboard? I would spend for this bike only for the diff character it has compared to other similar segment bikes. Being approx 37bhp does the bike feel underpowered with 190kgs?

Test rode this bike today, honestly speaking it's a Chinese bike end to end. Not to go with the reputation of Italian background. Am very disappointed with the performance, throttle response is very low and ergonomics is shockingly bad. Clutch is very hard, Am not sure how reliable are the benneli disc breaks. I highly recommend to test ride the bike before buying. Benneli is trying to fool ppl by doing gimmicks like it sold 100 bikes in 90 days. Bike's performance doesn't justify the exhaust. Overall a big let down.

That was a really good review.. I rode the tnt 300.. My Frnd's bike while I went for a long ride with my group.. It's soooooo damn comfy, the seat.. It's no as urgent as the Duke 390 but perfect highway tool.. The power is a bit on the lazy part.. Gotta rev past 5k-6k rpm to get the bump.. Pirelli angel tyres does its job really well.. Way to go powerdrift #pdarmy.. Sagar it was pleasure meeting u during the 390 track day at chennai.. My happiness had no ends at all.. Once again all the best powerdrift

I wish the design had a bit more zing. Doesn't look bad by any means but not as exciting as it's older siblings. That bumble bee look on the bigger bikes looks much better. Not to mention that weight...more than some of the fully faired bikes..This bike sounds sweet but has a long way to go.DSK need to price it a lil more aggressively seeing it goes against the 390 and z250 .

never knew that this one had a 160 rear and that too a pirelli!! wow really well man!! gr8 bike

    • @omkarkhamkar9388
      @omkarkhamkar9388 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Karthick Jayaraman that will reduce acceleration and top speed & agility as well.. whats more worse that losing cornering clearance as well!! 🙁🙁

    • @omkarkhamkar9388
      @omkarkhamkar9388 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Karthick Jayaraman even i planned installing 160 on the rc but after hearing this i decided to keep the stock size!! even sarge installed a pirelli (there is a pic on fb) but he said metz is way better than pirelli (specific rc tyre the rosso corsa) there is a ratio and only in that ratio u can increase ur tyre size.. anything less (karizma) and anything more (tnt 25 with 160 pireli) will affect other parameters of u bike!! 👍👍

    • @omkarkhamkar9388
      @omkarkhamkar9388 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Karthick Jayaraman there is one but costly way of doin it.. install lightweight forged rims.. and then add those tyre.. but even then u'll lose on corn clearance and thats not cool!! so better invest in other mods!! like remaps..wraps .. etc etc which will make it look cooler and go faster!! i really luv the 300 ps: wasnt fortunate enough to buy one!! 😶

PD... you guys always comes up with some great screenplays and storyline ups for your reviews. Best sounding bike upto 500cc and with proper exhaust it may sound like a 13B rotory engine (tokyo Drift - Han's rx7). Little bit down on power but a way more up in price.

Great video PD team as always!! :D. The Benelli TNT 300 is good but what surprised me was that even though the difference in power and torque figures between the two rides, the Z250 managed to be better in terms of acceleration ( And I say in terms of acceleration as that's what you expect from a naked bike than top speed). The only things i found the TNT 300 to be good is the sound it produces. More similar to that of a four cylinder bike than a twin and also the Pirelli Tyres that comes along with it as opposed to the IRC in the Kawasaki is much much better. The Kawasaki still has my heart but the pricing of the Z250 is too much and I'd rather add an extra 60k and get a Ninja 300. Nevertheless my preference when it comes to naked beasts is the Duke 390 as it's much more affordable and it's roar gives me the adrenaline rush i need. Then again that's just me :P

Sethu Murali Very well laid out Sethu! Although, it might not be as good looking as the Z250, it sure is one cracker of a machine. P.S. It sounds effing brilliant! :)

I really don't get why the manufacturers don't offer ABS in bikes having an engines bigger than 200cc.......... One should prioritize safety over performance
    Talking about the review.....
Great work guys...... Sergeant ..... Ur expressions when u were introducing the competitors of TNT300 where hilarious..... 😄😄
I love the way Benelli provides great levels of customization for the suspension.....
The bike looks gorgeous in flesh....
And frame+ offset spring do grab attention of a bike enthusiast
But headlights appear a bit similar to Duke's
Overall, a great bike and great review...... 👌👍😃
    Keep up the good work
