    Thanks Topher for being the ONLY reviewer to actually speak about the Fender sound system..Every time I drive any car/truck I always listen to my music( like most people) and yet no other reviewers ever talk about the sound system.

      More needs to speak about audio system. Most vehicles have poor sound systems sadly.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting that the P4X has three package options. The tech pac, the convenience pac and the premium pac. Unlike the P4X in the past they all got the RF audio system upgrade. However, to get the fender system here you have to get all three packages. Fender only on the prem pac. Don't let Nissan fool you. A fully loaded P4X now costs 43K not including destination fee. Yeah, 6 thousand more now.

But see I wouldn't mind driving a tundra or f-150 from 20 years ago because it was a reasonable size. But now it's the "mid-size" segment that hits the sweet spot for me while the tundra and f-150 have turned into massive land yachts. It's also nice to see Ford and Hyundai putting effort into a compact segment. Neither the maverick or Santa cruz speaks to me but it gives me hope for more options in that segment down the line.

    I just traded my 2019 Ranger FX4 for the new Pro4X in Canyon Boulder Gray. So far, I love this truck. It's light years ahead of the Ranger and that's a pretty good truck. I was concerned about the air conditioning after watching this review, but it is ice cold in the extreme heat and humidity here in NC. If anyone is in the market for a midsize truck I would highly recommend test driving the Frontier.

    • @Mark-op7zt
      @Mark-op7zt ปีที่แล้ว

      @josephchambers2928 I would recommend the Frontier, but you should drive both with equal trim levels. My Frontier is also a higher trim level than my former Ranger, but the sticker price was roughly the same. I'm not sure a higher trim level would make a huge difference on the Ranger unless they've changed their interior since 2019. There was a lot more plastic and it was hard to see the buttons and switches at night. The Frontier also has some switches to the left of the steering column that can be difficult to see, but they're not switches that are needed very often. The turning radius on the Ranger is better. There's also the auto start/stop on the Ranger which was really annoying. It has to be turned off every time the truck is started. Real world fuel economy is about the same or maybe very slightly better on the Ranger. I like the naturally aspirated engine better than the turbo. If you need more towing and payload capacity the Ranger would definitely be your truck. Imo, the Frontier is a better looking truck, but that's subjective.

    Seems quite nice that Nissan has kept their newest Frontier very truck-like & traditional! Most Bilstein dampers + suspension systems are pretty spot on with tuning. And a pretty decent price point for a top-spec off road version. Me myself I'm a "power" hound so I love my 2020 Ford Ranger. I wish I could've gotten the four full door super crew version as I feel my Super Cab's bolt upright rear seats & rear seat legroom are a joke so for me it's just extra "stash" space and lockable inside storage, lol. The newest Nissan Frontier kind of reminds me of my Ranger in the cab. My cab is quite traditional too (which I vastly prefer) with lots of knob + actual physical controls. My "non-FX4" 4x4 suspension is my biggest gripe with my truck. On good roads = great. But on rough roads = bouncy, bouncy, bouncy. I'll likely upgrade to Fox, Old Man Emu or BDS suspension, shocks for some better ride/damping. I love the gas mileage from my 2.3 liter EcoBoost four cylinder turbo though! I average 22-24 MPG in "mixed" work/daily driving & have gotten as high as 27.5 MPG hand calculated on the freeway. I have so far installed a Mishimoto cold air intake system with dry, "non-oiled" synthetic media cone filter, a Mountune Performance heavy-duty, high performance intercooler to help combat heatsoak issues a common Achilles Heel of the EcoBoost engines as well as an AWE Tuning 0FG 3 inch stainless steel exhaust system. This trio has provided a very good power increase as EcoBoost engines always seem to respond to most mods very well! Soon to go on it are some colder heat range pregapped iridium spark plugs, some high energy Pertronix ignition coils with some custom tunes from Livernois Motorsports. I can't wait!

    I knew it! I knew it wouldn't be priced in my budget! $38k-$44k for a midsize truck? I've seen Rangers with stickers for more than that too. Trucks are so expensive these days it's crazy

      Thanks to ppl who have no reason to own a truck other than to fit in or to not drive SUV( which is the new minivan ) thus we see more and more trucks 4runners and wranglers hauling kids and groceries getting bigger more luxurious and less capable

    Nice truck! It’s a shame the safety features aren’t standard and cost an extra $1000. I know this is the top of the line Frontier but something about paying almost $45000 for a mid size truck doesn’t sit right with me. Guess I’m getting old. Haha

    Hi @TheTopher.
    That review makes me have second guests on my pick, which is a Sport S Wrangler. As you know, the semi-conductors shortage makes it quite difficult to get a Wrangler order in Canada (ordered mine in April, still no VIN). Chances are, according to my dealer, that my order will simply be cancelled.
    My second option was to pick a used Tacoma but prices are "too dam'high" for a truck that's not on warranty anymore. You reckon that new Frontier would do it?

    Excellent review as usual. The bed extender is a great option. I had it on my 2015 Frontier SV, King cab, 4x4.

    The grunting noises you made while showing the turning radius was stupid. Picked up mine this morning (in Baja Storm Pearl} and it turns fine. Good review anyway. Just lay off the sound effects, you made the turn just fine!

    3:00 I don't think those are drain holes in the bed floor. I believe they are mounting points for tie-down rails. My previous gen Frontier had floor mounted rails from the factory, but the redesign doesn't have them for some reason.

  • @jhagen4850

    This is an interesting video to watch. I'm blown away at how quickly the transmission shifts from sub-2000 RPMs to over 4000RPM. I'm assuming this is why the fuel economy is terrible. A lot of this seems to be the result of erratic driver input to gas pedal. Curious to see where tranmission operates at 75MPH, which would be highway driving for most.
    Not sure I like an engine that is constantly revving to 7000RPM. Seems like these turbo 4 cylinders that make torque at lower RPMs might be a better idea for long term reliability.
