I do enjoy seeing Jada’s character die with an audience not stepping in to help her at all, even when they realize it’s not part of the Stab movie props
I think you could technically class Nightmare 1, Dream Warriors and New Nightmare as a trilogy since it closes out Heather Langencamps character nicely.

Yoooo! This is my first full video of yours I’ve watched and I am definitely a fan and subscriber now 🙏🏻 Totally understand and appreciate all of your choices even if they may not make my top 10. & I love the Halloween “choose your own adventure” of it all. Michael is definitely been my favorite of all time. & I just love Carpenter movies. But funny enough I think for my personal list I’d say H1 (79), H2 (81) and Halloween (2018). Just love the way he was brought back to life for a new generation in that film as well as Laurie’s evolution. Anyway, absolutely love the way you framed this conversation & also kept spoilers out in talking about them. Great content! Excited to watch more
They killed Newt because the actress had grown too much, so they had to kill her or recast her. They chose to kill her. Never had a problem with who they killed. I viewed it as Ripley's story
The only potential issue is that, with the way Cody was approaching this, “New Nightmare” wouldn’t really work as it acknowledges that there have been 6 Freddy movies. I guess one could argue that in “New Nightmare,” the mentioning of various sequels could just be something written into the story so that we as an audience would know that Freddy became some successful franchise which we “never saw.” *wink wink* Because it is true, you don’t have to see Nightmares 2,4,5 or 6 for the “Nancy trilogy” to be perfectly cohesive. Sooo, it’s a bit of a stretch, but I guess it could work. Either way, I imagine Cody still chose 1, 3, and 4 due to sentimental reasons. He’s a pretty nostalgic guy. 😁
I think Tremors is an underrated horror franchise. Not many people classify it as horror but that first one was scary as a kid and second one was action packed! They did fall victim to the 3rd movie not being as good as the first two but would love to hear you review the franchise/ first 2-3 movies.
@danielkinn782 William Peterson was so bad ass during that time period, too. To Live and Die in L.A. is another classic people really never talk about.

I absolutely adore George A. Romero’s “Of The Dead” trilogy, idk if that has crossed your mind when making this or doesn’t agree with your criteria but I think thematically it is so interesting and complex and each entry brings new elements and settings of the same world and the progression of this zombie virus is awesome! I would say this trilogy is to horror as planet of the apes is to sci-fi in terms of storytelling, themes, and importance to the genre it belongs to. Also I think nightmare -> Dream warriors -> new nightmare is also a solid trilogy but i understand your preference for the one you listed
Yeah, I was thinking that would make an appearance but by the time he reached the top 4 I knew it wouldn’t be that high. The first two movies in the trilogy stack up against any other franchise and the 3rd one is pretty solid too.
A decent Top 10 list man, I loved how you went about some of these. Halloween 1, 2 and H20 was a good choice. A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 3 and 4 I loved that ideas as a trilogy too.

As someone who saw your positive reviews for the first three films in the Phantasm series, I'm surprised they didn't appear here on the list but of course no one knows your tastes better than you do.
Totally agree with you Cody on the "Halloween" trilogy you picked. Luv "Halloween", "Halloween II" and "Halloween H20". It should have ended in that order imo.

I know it's not going to be on this list but Saw is easily my favorite horror trilogy, a perfect story from 1 to 3. Saw 1 being the beginnings of Jigsaw and his craft being that of curiosity with the main game being all in one room and the story being focused on how Jigsaw plays his game. Saw II being the perfect sequel follow-up making everything bigger and better with the story tying the cop plot and the game much more tightly and exploring John Kramer's method. Saw III being the great ending with showing the flaws in Jigsaw's philosophy resulting in Amanda's descension of sanity and the game focusing on a trial of tribulation for someone who's lost his family to see how much he's really felt lost until he actually loses his family legitimately. Though Saw III can be shakey with what they did with Kerry and Saw 1 can be disliked for the low budget cheese I think it's all great and perfectly tells a nice closed story. I of course enjoy every Saw film to a degree (even Saw 3D for how bad that is) but Saw would have been a perfect trilogy on its own but I'm glad the series did continue to explore more story ideas like Saw X (and of course I'm glad they continued for the music and score as well)
A friend of mine will not watch horror movies because she is too scared to watch them. I showed her all three Blade movies because they are action movies not horror movies
Worth a mention are Larry Cohen's three killer mutant baby movies: It's Alive (1974), It's Alive: Island of the Alive (1987), and It's Alive (2009). The last is, admittedly, a remake of the first.
Child's Play is the only horror movie that, as a kid, caused me to have nightmares. The fear Chucky instilled in me made me get rid of and never want to own any dolls ever again. Dolls still creep me out but I'm better, for the most part, when around them. For a long time, if I had to be around one, I couldn't do anything but constantly keep an eye on it to make sure it wasn't doing anything on its own. All my attention would be on it. I couldn't concentrate or correctly participate in anything that was going on around me. I still don't own or have any dolls in my house. Freddy is my favorite!!!!!
I'm right there with you on Alien 3. I have seen a lot of reappraisal of it in recent years and I simply cannot get past the opening and it doesn't matter what I think about the other 95% of the movie. It's DOA.

Hey Cody! An idea for your next tier list could be horror movie settings (i.e. forests, cemeteries, farms, hospitals, haunted house, churches, space)

It's DOA.
