I have a 2014 CRD Limited model of this Compass. I've owned it since 2016 (at 28,000 miles) and it has just tipped over 80,000 miles. I'm tempting fate here but apart from a weird issue where the car needed a new ignition barrel, it has never given me any grief, at all. I had a Patriot before this and although I preferred the shape of the Patriot, this Compass is hugely more refined and feels much more planted at speed, especially around country lanes. I've spent the past 12 months or so looking for an excuse to trade in and up to something new, but I simply can't find anything that warrants the financial outlay. This Compass gives me everything I need, has a great sound system, carries the family and (big) dog with ease and the Mercedes 2.2 lump has more than enough low down grunt to make it fun to drive (when I'm alone and G'n'R is blaring from the 8 speakers!). Of course, now I've written this, it will no doubt blow-up and fall apart in Blues Brothers style, tomorrow morning.
I’m looking at one of these as a first car since I live in a rural area. I love the idea of the speakers that come out of the boot so that I can pump up I Know What I Like by Genesis whilst having a barbecue or at a park. I’m planning on getting the 2.0 petrol with 2WD and the CVT automatic since the rural roads in my area rarely get wet, and it means better fuel economy. I love Jeeps so I quite like this Compass. Thanks for another great review Mr Crouch
i LOVE JEEPS (I've owned 8) and had a 2012 Compass FDII (the Trailhawk model before they called them that) fantastic vehicle for what they were, cheap and the best offroad capability in their class.
A great " proper" in depth view on a Jeep I hadn't ever thought of. We own two hard working Jeep CRD's which have never really let us down badly, other than a crankshaft sensor going out at nearly 100,000miles. Not bad I thought. Zero rust on the chassis either. Towing and working with trailers also excellent Great on hard rough ground, mud, grassland, anything tough it has coped very well. Tough machines but as with all machines good servicing is a must.
I have a 2011 Compass since new and it’s been super reliable. Just finished a 4000k mile round trip from Texas to Georgia and no issues with this scorching weather. 27 mpg estimated.
