That is my happy place. I've been fishing the Upper Manistee for the past 40 years.

Same and one of my late June go to spots for prolific Hex hatches from CCC bridge all the way upstream to the Goose Creek Horse Camp

Thanks so much! That's one of my favorite parts of doing these.

Yeah, think I'm gonna ask for a new net for Christmas. Probably a rubber net. Should come up and fish these Michigan rivers:)

It’s a great spot! Plenty of guides around as well.

Really cool video! any tips or advice for someone who has never fly fished and wants to start?

My advice? Just start. Maybe get a cheap combo rod/reel for $75-100 and find some trout water. Join your local chapter of TU. Great guys who will help you. Pay for a guide once or twice. You will make mistakes but hang in there. You will catch fish in spite of yourself. Trust me, I know - I'll be foolin' with my reel or something and some fish will take my fly when I'm not looking. Or, I'll have 30 feet of line behind me as I'm wading to the next spot and,... bam... caught another fish. 😎But the best part is getting a good cast with a good drift, right where you want it, and a nice trout comes up and gulps your fly. Good luck.

This off of King Road? If so it’s a great spot to fish!
Manistee is amazing in august! Maybe I’ll see you out there this season! Great video

I honestly don't remember the road. But will definitely be exploring the Manistee this August:)

Is there any good access without having to wade in the water? I am just getting started and don't have waders yet.

Probably, but I don’t know any. It’s often difficult to fly fish off the banks. On warm days you can go in with shorts;)
