@@RoanokeGaming The lore and some of your earlier videos explain that the Locuss only came to be because of the original miners exposure to the Imulsion and their progeny. Why say they might have been bigger without exposure to Imulsion if that exposure is what led to their creation?
@@dylandanforth7930 while even though imulsion is what initially led to their creation, we can see that more exposure to it negatively effected them like with the locust in Gears 2 not following your boat into the imulsion contaminated water, or even Lambent Locust in Gears of war 3.

why did the scientists of the COG just assume the best case situation when the locust were all "defeated" and not research this crystallization? why not try and experiment with the material and look towards salvaging it for the rebuilding and fortification efforts of humanity?

My guess, is that in the gears universe at the time of gears 3 at least, humanity is all but extinct. Partly due to the Locust and the human - locust war. The COG yeeting their own cities with the hammer. But also the lambent later on. Now post gears 3, the COG is near extinct, the governmental body, is gone with prescot and the whole of Azura being dead. And it's military arm being devastated as well. With all resources being stretched to the limits as well as man power. Just dumping the bodies would be the best issue. And direct all resources to rebuilding settlements, re populating etc
more than likely politics dude. politicians don't like to be reminded of human mortality, including the things that almost destroyed the human race. We've basically made death and aging a disease. Then there's the fear of panic. so many times a bad situation was downplayed because politicians were afraid of riots in the streets. For example, during the 1918 flu pandemic information on the flu in the newspaper was pushed all the way to the back because politicians were afraid of the information that a plague was underway inciting a riot.
Also can we talk about how the locust lost their scaly skin they have more leathery skin now as Scions

I feel like the Scions and Wardens still have the same kind of skin as the Locust but the new drones I do feel have more leathery skin.

Just Some Guy without a Mustache The Kraken is a naturally occurring Seran “super organism” like the Rift Worm. It was infected by Swarm leeches and brought under control by the Swarm hive mind.

I have a few ideas on what they could be theory 1: it was a mutated rift worm because the the imulsion counter weapon did change the dna of the creatures of the hollow the brumak and the locust must have been close enough to become similar and the others were further distant from each other, theory 2: it could be a mature leech know here me out we don’t know the leech’s full life cycle and I see many similarity’s between it and the original leeches, theory 3: it was a corpse it is possible that the swarm found the the krakens body and that they had taken over its body and were moving it like a puppet

I believe the reason the drones werent destroyed in the tanks, is because like most of the humans, they weren't as contaminated with imulsion as the rest of the locust army due to being isolated so far away and in being in the staisis tanks.
Also, I just notice they still have the Locus's faction emblem on their armor.
Well yeah. They're essentially still the Locust in all but what they're called by the Serans, and they use the same armour and clothing they had from before, albeit it's stretched out and all that.

Can you imagine if the COG could have just sent those things into space after the wave turned them into crystals. They'd awake only to find them floating in space (or most likely, into the sun) and that's it.

@@RoanokeGaming Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun. I forget what faction you encounter them as but I do remember that they've adapted to actually live and even thrive in Tiberium and I believe they heal from it. Also there's several other mutated animals with the crystal growths, like mutant dogs. It's been a while so I might be wrong about some things.

Therons are also drones. Read the Rise of RAAM comic and the character descriptions in Gears 1’s character select. Therons are just older drones that have developed longer teeth and a survival instinct.
Still wondering what the deal was with Kantus. We never saw any of them affected by the Imulsion Countermeasure, but we know they disappeared. Since Scions have a Kantus ability, we can infer that some Scions used to be Kantus.
I love these videos.
I was under the impression the drones in the underground lab were the very first successful experiments by Niles. Those still in stasis never escaped with Myrrah as they retreated underground and came into contact with the Imulsion. Therefore the ones left behind never were infected to begin with.
That's what I thought
There were some locust from the original horde that survived the countermeasure that COG special forces had to fight while securing important sights underground to bury the pods. It is possible that the normal locust we all know and love could return in the very distant future in the Gears timeline. I would love that cause personally I don’t fear the Swarm as I did the Locust.
Like idk why they nerfed the scions and reduced the number of carrier and snatcher fights in five, and the wardens are really easy once you get the freeze upgrade for flash and the combat upgrade for invis

I just want to know what happened to the other subspecies/bipedal locust like the Therons, kantus, boomers, and ragers. Did they all become scions too or are they not awake yet?
Maybe the Therons are the Hunters? As for the rest? they will probably introduce them in Gears 6.
Ragers went extinct during the beginning of the locust war I think.
The Ragers went extinct towards the beginning of the Locust War, due to how aggressive and carefree they were

Personally yeah RAAAAM has always been a drone,always thought of a smart grenadier with theron level cunningness. But it does show light that even a lowly drone can get to the ranks of general one reason i liked him was actually BECAUSE of the lore gathered on him.

FUN FACT about Wardens...
They can be COMPLETELY overpowered in hand to hand combat by high level striker class COG.
(I know because I'm leveling that class and can demonstrate.)
That being said, I'd love to see your explanation of the anatomy of "Grace" in the Gears franchise. NOT the Terminator franchise.
If that sounds confusing its because I'd prefer to see a thought exercise conducted on Grace if she were a part of the Gears cannon instead.
Afterall, Grace is the original character who pioneered the "Striker" class into Gears 5, and therefore, there's likely some really intriguing information that states how and why she's able to overpower Wardens using their own weapons. I'm sure a thought exercise on the "Brawler" class would be nowhere near as fun as Striker since there's no logical reason why Cole catches on fire when he runs. But there IS a reasonable explanation behind Grace.

The Imulsion is what created the Locust by mutation but like radiation I imagine it also damaged their meat suits so once it was removed from some individuals that could survive the process, their cells were allowed to grow and get them past that drone phase.

In gears of war 1 we had Raam as the face of the locust, and the Queen, Myrrah as the voice.
In 2, we had Skorge as the face and, again, the Queen as the voice.
In 3, the Queen had noone left to be the big boy on the field. So she stepped up, and even then, she stayed back until she had no options left.
In 4, the Speaker was the closest we had to a face of the Swarm. There was no voice because at that point, Reyna was not fully converted, just at the point where she could not be saved.
Gears 5: For some reason, they left Reyna's body in the hive, despite the fact that leaving the bodies of their kind on their turf has already proven to be a bad idea. Immediately upon reawakening, Reyna becomes both the face and the voice of the swarm in her first true appearance as the Queen. We get no build up. As soon as the information about her beginning is known, it's an obvious tell that she is still alive and is gonna be the queen. There is no mystery. With Myrrah, we didn't know her. There is no smart play. She stupidly risks dying just to personally confront her daughter. What if her ambush failed? What if Kait had just thrown the knife at her head? She'd be dead, leaving the swarm without a leader.
Even when Myrrah was all that remained of the leadership she still didn't risk her life until she had no other options. When Delta showed up in her castle, she left to let someone less important deal with her. She kept her distance when encountering Delta.
Raam's appearance as well as Skorge's work because, in Raam's case, it shows that the locust indeed have a military leader. The Queen is alluded to, in how she speaks of Raam's execution of their strategy, and is pleased with his success. For Skorge, it shows that the locust had more than 1 ace up their sleeve. Both appear, and the first thing they do is completely mess things up. By the time Myrrah takes a frontline role, we can see it coming before we face her as not only does she apeear and watch from a distance on a flying super beetle, but we've already beaten 2 of the leaders she appointed, so it makes sense that after that, she decided to take a more active role.
Queen Reyna is presumed dead and the moment she is hinted at, the potential for buildup is gone. She immedately takes a frontline position, despite having many capable warriors to fill a frontline command role. Even before her, the Speaker had been capable of oragnising the swarm.
Not only is she being pushed into the action too soon, but there was no mystery about her, and she takes unnecessary actions that Myrrah would only take as a last resort. She wasn't just an unclear antagonist. She's a dumb antagonist too.

If u play the new gears 5 dlc one of the characters say that when Adam's machine went off it didn't kill all the locust and some of them were still left and hiding
Sure wish they would have addressed the whole thing about Imulsion being eliminated at the end of 3. Like the Pendulum Wars were about dwindling resources and Imulsion was one of the last forms of energy found on Sera, and now it's gone. How did Humanity rebuild with such advanced technology after most of their energy sources were wiped out? I don't recall seeing many solar or wind generators.

Say what you want from Gears of War 4's campaign, but Gears 5 was awesome...it really felt like the OG trilogy with humanity fighting to survive and ever-growing enemy.

Sera is such a ridiculously hostile and brutal planet, it seems unlikely that Humans would have evolved there. Everything from the wildlife to the weather is cartoonishly violent and deadly. And if humans did somehow originate on Sera, it seems likely that they are doomed to extinction no matter what. I've been wondering if the end of the series will be them leaving the planet on some kind of ship and ending up colonizing Earth at some point, Battlestar Galactica style.
Imagine if RAAM survived Marcus' attack and lived still up to live to the day the Imulsion Countermeasure was used then got crystallized like the rest...the Scion RAAM...

Hey Roanoke, do you think you could do some videos about the aliens from the XCOM series?
I get that they had bigger things to worry about at the time but it baffles me that they never thought to just dump the crystals in the deepest part of the ocean or collapse the mines so that no one would be able to get in or out of it. These things were responsible for the longest, bloodiest war in human history, dumping them in your metaphorical backyard where people can have access sounds like an add-on sticky note to the list of 'important stuff to do post war' you know.

If I'm correct, the locust (not the beasts) were part made by impulsion and part made by human genetic engineering. At first it was rustlung with imulsion that the gov tried to cure but then they try to genetic engineer a super soldier which made the locust. So all locust has impulsion cells and over time they become more and more infected with impulsion cells. But they became a species not dependent on imulsion because of the cog engineering. So when the imulsion counter wave blasted it out it killed anyone with to much imulsion within them like doctor phoenix including most of the locust. But for those who didn't have to much(a few locust) they were able to live and grow without imulsion effecting them. Those would grow with crystals on them and into like a coma, because of biology idk
Also you should do a video on why the palace guard has a deeper voice than a Theron. Other than it making them more imposing. Did they just go through puberty or what lol
funny enough my time playing gears 5 i found out that the best way to deal with wardens is from either long range with an embar or longshot or at close range with the overkill or gnasher because of the stagger potential

Imagine if the COG had dumped those locust crystals into the Seran equivalent of the Marianas Trench. Even if the pressure at those depths didn’t pulverized them. The Scions would be basically boned once they “hatched”.
