    Would there be any issues with using the PT Flex 50 in a two-piece PLA tire mold? The mold would be two pieces screwed together, and unscrewed to release the tire after it cures.

      The PT Flex would want to adhere to the PLA much more than a silicone mould, as long as you use an adequate release agent on the PLA you should be able to de-mould without too much issue.

    What type of casting rubber do you suggest for a very grippy tire which will be used for a stair-climbing robot?

      Its not an application we've had any previous experience with, possibly A40 to A60 as a starting point. We have duroflex 40 , ptflex 50, 60 in our webstore which might be worth a trial, small quantities available.

      @@MBFibreglass Ok, thank you for the fast response. One more question: If I cast the DuroFlex 40 in a 3D-Printed two-part PLA mold, do I need to use a mold- release and if yes, is there one that can be easily washed/removed from the cast after demolding?

    • @MBFibreglass
      @MBFibreglass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GMC997 thats a little bit of a difficult one, the macwax release will work and its easier to wash off but a heavy build on the mould can leave the surface of the duroflex gummy, once its washed off and let to sit the surface will generally dry up. Otherwise the macsil would be more effective but its a silicone base release and more difficult to remove wash off. Ideally you would have an rtv silicone mould and cast the duroflex in without release agent.

    Hi, I need to cast tyres for my large model aeroplane, would you recommend the products used in this video?

      Its certainly a possible option, ultimately these sorts of applications require some trial and error to determine suitability for your project.

    Is a vaccum chamber for degassing absolutely necessary, or is it possible to use this silicone without one?

    • @MBFibreglass
      @MBFibreglass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A vacuum chamber is advised for the T20 silicone, we would advise using the GP3481 if you are not degassing your silicone.

    How long do you mix the Polycraft T20 for?

    • @MBFibreglass
      @MBFibreglass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, The potlife is 3 minutes so you need to ensure its fully mixed and poured before then, best to use small quantities if your not familiar with the materials at first.

      @@MBFibreglass Another question, which of the Polycraft would you recommend to make moulds of dice?

    • @MBFibreglass
      @MBFibreglass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@foxdemon1 Softer rubbers are probably better for dice, something like the ZA13 or T15 would likely work well.
