    i had an addiction to instagram. it’s impossible to spend one less minute on it, so i deleted the app from my phone entirely , at least until my exams are over. it’s worked perfectly so far. been able to focus on my studies :)

      If you are using an iPhone, you can use the Downtime feature to gradually decrease the time you spend on certain apps (I'm sure there is some free app for Android). It's what I've been using for social media addiction and it's been successful so far.

    I instinctively started to do this over the past six months, and Im definitely in a better place to deal with this coronavirus situation because I saved, I also lost weight and maintained it. Much more to do but excited to see more changes

    Totally on board with this - great advice. One exception to me is the taking care a less than 2 minute jobs immediately. There is a switching loss involved and also things like email can easily be batched.

    Easy for me to be disappointed in myself because of my seeming inability to go straight from couch potato to Olympic training level of exercise. Adopting these approaches to my life should pay off in big dividends.

    I've meditated over 20 years, but going to 2 times a day makes quite the difference from even once a day - and far more than a few times a week, as i did for years.
    Soon after waking, and soon before sleep, i find easy to schedule. But it can be "whenever".
    (This is in addition to, OTHER meditation-LIKE things, which i ALSO do every day..)

    I don't really need help with tidying-up - if anything I'm a little too focused on it. However, I found the title of this video extremely helpful! I have been having breakthroughs lately, pretty wild and dramatic ones and I have been expecting them to magically transform my life, and feeling guilty because they haven't. A breakthrough is just a good place to start with the real work of transforming habits.

    Insightful. I can relate with this a little. so lately i've been cleaning my room which is an utter mess and when starting off even the thought abt cleaning it was overwhelming that led to inaction, until i divided my room into segments... for example: the table is a segment, the floor is divided into 3 segments, the bed is a segment and so on..so the idea was i would be cleaning a segment for the next few mins, after that i take a break andmaybe listen to some music and clean another segment and so on. its working pretty well actually.

    But sir, as you said in previous videos, deep work should be done, without changing your tasks and focussing one the most important one, then how can we apply 2 mins rule in this case.... They are directly contradictory to each other

  • @quartkneek3670
    @quartkneek3670 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Your video proves the contradiction in the title. Just the thought that change is needed is a breakthrough that leads to lasting change. The idea that one can employ micro-habits to develop lasting and positive change is a breakthrough. You still have to build upon them, but those initial breakthroughs are crucial.
