My local Kroeger had asparagus on sale this week, 87 cents a pound.....I bought 10 pounds of the thin spears. Ended up with 12 pints......am so excited.
Canning asparagus was a simple process however the end result is asparagus is like a limp noodle. I have decided the only use for canning asparagus is to make asparagus soup later. Lesson learned. I bought an electric kettle to get my water heated to boiling quickly 6 minutes per kettle. It helps with filling jars or topping off a water bath canner. Of course its not as cute as yours! 😊
I love asparagus. I canned them in the past and haven’t been pleased with the end results. It’s too mushy for me. I’ll use my jars to make cream of asparagus soup. Now my pickled asparagus, love it!!!
I'm here to watch your cooking tutorial friends, easy to follow and definitely delicious, keep the spirit, take care of your health, keep working and always successful 🙏🙏🙏🙏🤝🤝🤝👍👍👍❤❤❤
What an adorable tea kettle! A very nice gift. I canned asparagus once a few years ago but hubby didn't like the texture, waaa. Now I save them for pickling or freeze them and then cook them in the air fryer after thawing. But...I can't wait to get my freeze dried Thrive asparagus and experiment with it! Thank you, Linda!
Hi linda, thanks for sharing. I pressured canned Asparagus about a month ago. One jar has less and the Asparagus are floating. The other jars have lost 1/2 of the water from the top. Are these "no good?". Ugh, beginner here. Thanks for helping me, Melinda
87 cents/pound is the best price I’ve ever heard for asparagus. I’d love to can some but my problem is my family doesn’t care for it. I roast it in the oven and they’ll eat it that way but I’m not sure of the texture after canning. How are you preparing your canned asparagus as a side dish?
Question...for the past several years I have blanched and frozen my asparagus with very disappointing results....mushy asparagus. I just bought a pressure canner, with your hot pack method does it stay firm? One jar the spears looked to be softened. Tia...I'd hate to buy pounds of asparagus to be disappointed again.
Where do I find 24 oz. (1.5 pint canning jars) at a reasonable price? Walmart has them "listed" for about $0.83 each but they have been out of stock for 2 years. Amazon has them for $14.50 each (pack of 2 for $29) which is ridiculous.
can you help me understand the advantage of canning the asparagus? I don't mean that sarcastically, I'm trying to learn the benefits. Do you buy it cheaper right now because its in season or something? I don't do the shopping, but im guessing its available at the grocery store year round. One of the biggest things missing from canning videos is HOW to utilize the canned items later. I recently researched how to can meat and will be using your videos as my guide. Thanks! Trying to learn the benefits of canning. It seems time consuming, but if there is cost savings to be had or better tasting foods and quick meals....i can see how it might be beneficial!
2022-3-2 Wednesday... 12:41 am CST.. Hey kiddo I've been watching you since oh just before Christmas I came across you I got to certain days channel and when she talked about you and the other ladies I started watching them got a question I am a newbie... You said something about you washed your asparagus and veggie wash...what is that do I get it at.... And when you make your asparagus doing the canning process do you put the product I don't know what the name of it is you put it in and make your pickles crunchier and I don't know celery crunchier and stuff like that is that correct what is that how do you use that because I've only seen it once and I can't remember where it was and of course I can't find it... Plus how do you make sweet pickles? I don't like anything dilled, sour, bitter or anything like that so how does one make sweet pickles to where they're real crunchy like valastic pickles... And does pickling mean that they are going to be bitter and tangy and tart and all that other kind of stuff not sweet... I knew what this please don't hate me...
Linda do they turn out mushy... My mom used to buy canned asparagus and it was Horrible... Please let me know because I'd love to can some if they're still firm🙏🙏 Kendra
@kmiller6002 Of course they do! They will be just as mushy as the store bought canned ones. I also don't buy asparagus any time but the spring and locally. Because I want to enjoy the beauty of asparagus. I can wait

I canned 6 pints of cooked ground beef today. I followed your directions of not opening the canner too soon. They all sealed and are looking so good!

Good. I'm not the only one who cans the ends of the asparagus. I use them in my soups. Thank you for this video.
I never knew you could use them for soup!

I love that you took as much time as I always do with the lid process. I'm always worried that it's not going to be even. I don't feel so alone😂💚
Love your canning videos!! More please!!! I’m a newbie canner and your videos are soooo helpful!
Love asparagus. Thanks Linda!
It's soft after canning but I like having it on hand to make cream of asparagus soup!
We use canned asparagus to make toasted bacon, tomato, and asparagus sandwiches with mayonnaise! So delicious!
Haven’t canned asparagus yet, but it’s definitely on may list to do now. Thanks Linda!
That Copper Collander is GORGEOUS. and the teapot is pretty too. I love anything Copper.
Gorgeous! And the asparagus is pretty, too! HA Nah, it's fabulous. This is in season. Time to get on it already! Thanks so much.
I love that particular size jar. I cant find them anymore. I always snatch them at thrift stores if I can find them.

Were they mushy?
Glad to see that your rings were loose.
I ordered my first tattler lids and gaskets today. I pray they work well for me.
