Beautiful job 🤗🤗
Thank you! 😊
Amazing job! Now I will try on my teddy bear!
Thank you so much for naming your scissors! I have been looking all over for brand names for good grooming scissors while I struggle with everyday scissors ( probably made for fabric.)
Is it PNW scissors, or P&W? Can’t find them.
P&W scissors(power and working) yes, definitely only use grooming scissor to cut dogs coat.
Excellent video!!!!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for such a wonderful video. She is a beautiful dog and looks adorable in her teddy bear hair cut. 🥰
Thankyou Megan 💝
Omg fantastic video she's so cute x

You are so welcome!
I just got done watching a different lady on TH-cam broom a dog and was throwing her around like a rag doll 🙁 you give me faith in groomers! Great video and advice!
Oh no! that's terrible. Grooming for me is all about taking the time to pamper and make the dog feel comfortable during the grooming session.
Melanie very calm n sweet w her doggie. Enjoy your video cause I just was givin a toy I named Ollie
Thank you, that's so great toy poodle are one of my favourite breeds:)

Wonderful job. Some of the other groomers on here need to watch you
This girl is so well behave😍and you are very gentle to her and professional. Is she fully poodle? Her coat is really thicker than I have usually seen.
Hello, yes she is a full miniature poodle💓💓💓
Hi Melanie, you do an awesome job atvteaching us home groomers. Not sure if you know but the siund cuts out when doing the muzzel which is the place ivstruggle with the most. Any chance the siund glitch can be rectified?. Your tutorials are the best ive viewed and ive learnt the most. Thank you from christchurch, NZ.
Thank you. Enjoy watching this. I don't even have a dog🙂
Thank you 💕 for watching, that’s so funny🤭 well when you get one you will be able to give your dog a hair cut😃👏🏻👏🏻
Great groomer, gentle with the dog and a beautiful cut. I dont think I could do it though !
Thanks Hanorah 😍
@@MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials You're welcome I have seen some groomers pulling dogs around like rag dolls and was so happy to see you respectful and gentle, it's a long time for the dog to stand .I have a mini poodle they are sweetest little creatures😀
I use your colognes and shampoos/conditioners every day but hadn't realised you had a youtube channel! youtube recommended me this video last night, so I watched it, and thought 'oh, that's a new way of setting the pattern for teddy legs, might try that out on the groodle I have to do tomorrow [ie, this morning]'. Forgot, of course - but our two 3pm dogs were two toy poodles we'd never done before, and they wanted teddy legs and face over poodle feet, so I said to my fellow groomer 'how about you do both heads and I do both bodies/legs so we know they'll match?' Got much better results from this technique than I've had from what I've been previously taught (starting the blend far lower down) so I think I'll be sticking with this in future!
That’s amazing ! I’m so pleased TH-cam suggested our channel to you, and happy you enjoyed our vid, we have loads of grooming tutorials on our channel you may enjoy.
@@MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials I'll definitely be exploring! Thanks. ❤
Did anyone else lose the audio from 33:27 to 36:24?
I would love to hear the instructions she was giving.
Hi, I am so sorry. I will look into it. Thank you for letting me know💗 cheers Mel
Hi Melanie. Always look forward to your video's. Can I ask whether you will be doing a tutorial on top knot/ round heads. It's the part I struggle the most with. Thank you.
Amanda Harbour hi 👋 so sorry I missed your comment, yes for sure I can present a round head video for you💕
Lovely!! Ty I wish my dog had the volume on top of the bridge of the nose. I just clean shave one stripe then the rest is round....nice handling of the dog btw ty for the video.
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed this grooming session. Yes, she has a good amount of coat on her nose area💕 it’s so fantastic you groom your own dog💕
What a good girl😊😊😊
She is such a perfect poodle to groom🌸 thank you so much for watching 💕
beautiful job - so helpful to watch - mine is only 8 months old and wont stay still
Hi Vanessa,
thank you and you are very welcome. Keep practicing with your dog and he will begin to keep still.
Best Wishes
Mel
oh gosh, that mini poodle is so poofy before the cut! I didn't know minis could be that poofy
yes, poodle coats are very curly.
If you could post a link to the products you used in the video, that would be great 👍
OMG soooo sweet! Love it, thank you :)
You are very welcome 🙏🏻 so glad you loved it 💘
Thank you! The video and explanation are really helpful.
How much time does it take to cut, without bathing and combing?
Thank you 😊 it would take me about 35-45 minutes to cut the hair with out bathing and combing ✂️✂️
Would you please post all scissors, clippers, brushes used in this video? I am a beginner and would like to start off right! Great video!
Hi Kim, I have put all the equipment I have used in this grooming tutorial in the description. Please let me know if you need any further help.
Best Wishes
Mel and Devana
What clipper blade size and guard do you use for her head? Thank you :)
She is adorable, sit still for haircut 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video! Thank you. What length do you cut the body please? Thanks 😊
thank you. I clip the body on a 1/2 to 3/8 inch snap on attachment combs.
This is so fabulous, very nicely instructed. I have a 6 month miniature poodle and I’d like very much to be able to do his groomed teddy bear look on going. My question is , how to get him to stay still , be relaxed as we go along ? Imagine starting out slowly and do not want to frighten him
Yes, when you begin to groom him start slow and reward the good behaviour. You may need someone to help hold him. Or you can use a grooming table with a grooming loop and arm, this will help keep him steady💕 lots of patience and rewards💕
I love watching it as well.
Do you plan to do a video on the german clip / T-clip ?
Thank you so much ☺️ Yes, for sure. We will do a modern trim video with ears and tail on in the next coming weeks💕💕💕
Hello wondering if you have a video on doing a teddy bear cut in a wheaton terrier 🙏. Also wanted to say you videos are on point. Very clear, good descriptions and tips given. I watched the full video and enjoyed it👌🐶
Thank you so much, I would trim the same patten for a wheaten terrier. But I will try and do a video for you.
Thank you! We’re hoping to get a spoo for our next family dog. I’m watching all the grooming videos I can trying to learn. How difficult would this be for a complete newbie? I cut my (human) family’s hair but never attempted a dog. 😬
thank you for your comment and question. I will take practice, but you will learn with your new puppy together :) don't give up 💓
I would love to see you groom a working english Springer spaniel. Needing help during isolation! So far I've managed to trim bits here and there, and brush daily. Not for long, but better than nothing.

Will this cut work on my Cavapoo? He has quite curly hair for a Cav.
yes, 1000 percent ♥️
Really great video thank you. I’m a beginner so I won’t be attempting the full cut initially but some really great instruction for all levels. Just one question, you mentioned being careful about avoiding getting the tip of the tail caught between the tooth combs. What about nipples on female dogs, what technique should I use to groom the belly and chest of a female dog to avoid injury. I guess the same applies to the ‘privates’ of a male dog.
The tail contains bone and nerves this is why extra care must be taken. Yes, care should be taken around the nipple area on female and males. You will find when clipping the nipple areas if you are using a longer blade length just gently glide your over the nipple area, if you are using a short blade length you should clip around the nipples. Or if the nipples are large care should be taken when clipping around or over them. When clipping the private areas on a male dog, it’s best to clip the area clipping with the direction of the hair growth, clipping with the hair growth (towards the front legs)will ensure you will not irritate that area💕 I hope this helps and makes sense 💕 please reach out if you require further help💘
I have a toy poodle mix with very curly but thin hair. Would this be a different clipper?
Hi Melanie, great video!!! have you done the teddy bear cut in a groodle with fleece hair? do i do the same tecnic? Thank you
Thank you💓 it would be the same techniques applied when grooming a groodle💓
Hi Melanie. I see your using the purple snap on comb for her legs, what blade length are you using for her body? Thank you.
Yes what blade?
Sorry guys, I didn’t see your questions 💕Shear magic 5/8 wide tooth snap on comb with a shear magic wide tooth 30 blade underneath the snap on comb.
Hello Melanie :)
That was an incredibel video. 😍😍👏🏼👏🏼
I come from Denmark and I have I BH I groom by my self. :) so your video is so nice to see 😍
I have one question?
which distance comb do you use - both for legs and body ??? 😃
I hope you see This 🤞🏼❤️
Hi Ida,
The snap on I used on the legs is-
www.ozgroomingworld.com.au/oster-s-s-attachment-1-1-4-32mm
with a #30 under the snap on.
and the snap on I used for the body and little bit of the sides of legs is-
www.ozgroomingworld.com.au/shear-magic-wide-comb-attachment-16mm
with a #30 under the snap on.
I hope this helps
Best Wishes
Mel
What size blade are you using and trimmer?
What kind of dog is in your grooming video? So beautiful!
This is Devana my beautiful miniature Poodle 🐩 💕
Hey! This video is great!
I’m fairly new to clipping my poodle cross dogs. One is very curly and the other more smooth coated.
What’s really confusing me is, do I use different blade lengths or do I use one blade length and then attach different combs lengths to it? Hope that makes sense xx
Hi, yes it makes sense. If you use snap on attachment combs you will use the same blade underneath the snap on attachment comb. The snap on attachment combs are available in different lengths. If you are using blades that cut to the desired length ( example 7f, 5f, 4f) then you want need the snap on attachment combs. Normally you would use the same on attachment combs if you would like a longer length. Have you seen this video - th-cam.com/video/i7p6_hTSGXs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c2qAdx78m3_dYOFo
Great video! Best one I've seen! Question, I normally cut the hair under my dog's mouth as low as I can because he's white and the bottom looks brown from the drinking water.. Same with the paws, they get discoloration from going out when it's raining and so on :(
thank you, yes staining can be hard to keep under control, I totally understand as my bichon has the same problem.
so cute! what shampoo did you use for her?
Sophie the Pet Stylist I used the Relax shampoo & conditioner on her, it’s a really light product so doesn’t weight a curly coat down 😊
@@MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials Thank you for your quick response!
