Making Piston Rings For Northern 4-8-4 Live Steam Locomotive

We continue with my project of making a Northern 4-8-4 live steam locomotive in 3/4" scale. Today's video shows the production of my first cast iron ring for the locomotive. One error in video 1 3/8" equals 1.375 not 1.275!

I'm a woodworking man but i had an old friend who built 12 locos and I used to hear about the latest projects problems. Eventually Arthur passed away and I inherited some of his gear, lathe, milling machine etc. The odd time that I have used them, it has scared the crap out of me. Maybe next time round I'll be a engineer.

When you went to the radius tool, it reminds me that anytime I'm having issues, I go to a round button carbide insert tool. Always seems to work!
