  • Recently I unlocked the Large version of the Refueling Javelin, and with the discoveries we made when salvaging the medium version, I wanted to revisit this design. This new variant is so large that it barely fits in the bay! As an added bonus, this version actually has the fuel tanks, and we get a sticker for a 98% completion!
Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a 3d puzzler where you are tasked with breaking down space ships for salvage. You're on a time limit per shift and deeply in debt to your employers, so being efficient is the name of the game!
Hardspace Shipbreaker is currently in Early Access, and this video was made on version 0.4.1.

The most aggravating thing is the furnace pull is stronger than the tethers. I lost piping that pivoted towards the furnace and even ten tethers couldn't prevent it from being sucked in

Fantastic video. Wish I was as efficient as you are. I really struggle with finding the right cut when furnace and processor pieces are fused together. Great job. Also, yes! Smaller objects getting stuck on the bigger parts can totally turn the entire ship! Happened to me twice last night, once on a Javelin Heavy Cargo, and then again on a Gecko. Yet, the tethers were unable to move a large portion of the ship. Really weird! And this is the released version as of today. Funkay!

There's a physics "bug" in the game that allows smaller objects to "nudge" heavier objects out of the way. Speed runners exploit it to move entire ship hulls, which is why I never got into the race mode; I just didn't want to train myself to use exploits. That aside, it's a pretty solid build and still one of my favorite games!

@@VilkataGOh that has happened to me now on multiple occasions. Again, I believe it was another Javelin, but could have also been a Gecko. Basically the outer shell was already separated and had moved in a weird way kinda jack-knifing with the inner shell (the part that goes into the furnace). Then I separated a panel which got stuck in-between some of these beams (part of the cages?). I tried using the grapple and pulling and turning the panel out of its jack-knifed position and the entire ship and all of its loosie bits just twisted and turned almost 90 degrees sideways!!! Yet, when I tried to grapple these bigger pieces, they would not move at all. Doesn't make a lick of sense.

I love how this game makes it feel like you're working but is fun at the same time. I just wish shift times were longer than 15 minutes. 30 mins would be great.

Suit Voice: "Oxygen is low. Remember, ass-fixation lead to missed salvage quotas."
Me: "Yes, I know. That's why I'm in debt! Wait ... asphyxiation? That makes so much more sense."

I love when I'm tearing apart a ship and find that the crew was storing drinks in the ECU ...

It's a tough sticker to get, but a satisfying accomplishment! Congrats!

You might want to pull the coolant before pulling the reactor next time. You wont get a coolant explosion like that again.

I've had bad experiences in the past with deactivating the coolant prior to removing the reactor (it started a meltdown!). I'll certainly revisit it and see if we can reliably get away with handling the ECU right from the start, it certainly would make life much easier! Thanks!

Some coolant modules have a branching system that you have to remove the small coolant cells from or it will melt down.

I thought that you got the sticker at 93%?
Anyway, love'n the vids. Thanks man.

Prior to version 1.0, the Mini-me sticker required 98%, but at release, they reduced the requirement to 95%.

These were apparently the first ships I saw in a video looking up this game, thought it was a modded in ship
