Only in my country of Ireland 🇮🇪 (era of doping aside) could not find itself on any list of top 20 of Irish achievements we've accomplished in sport? In any article you'll find obscurantist GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association a sport only played in Ireland) winners, or some female boxer than a guy who won the triple crown of cycling in a truly international sport (only achieved by Mercxx) speaks volumes to how we treat people who made a real contribution to the country, very sad.Btw that little baby crying must be Nicolas when greeting his wife.
I prefer the older time trials without the space theme bikes. All time trials should be done on your normal bike. I don't understand why this move to dedicated time bikes ever was allowed by UCI, it was the dumbest thing I ever seen.
Agreed, I doubt tbh if any of the modern cyclists, put them on those bikes then would be smashing it against the likes of Roche, Lemond, Delgado. Possibly better diet and condition. I mean in 88 Sean Yates won a TT (no Tribars, One disc wheel) at 48klms an hour, you think Podgcar, Vini, Roglic would top 10 on that bike, hardly. Sure cyclists today are better prepared, but half the time are you wondering is it the tech that's aiding them or them?
@@marcusmaher-triskellionfil5158 There is no doubt that the bike tech has improved massively pretty much every pro cyclist is now on aero frame based road bikes. Switching to electronic shifting has eliminated all the problems with the older cable based shifting and switching to disc brakes has allowed the use of full time carbon wheels even on longer descents which makes climbing easier with these 50+ mm wheels. The diets and supplements also have decades of improvement, but there is also a catch here back then the bikes were not 6.8 kg they were a few kg heavier, this may seem like nothing but even 1 kg of difference on every pedal revolution means thousands of kg being moved during a race specially when climbing. Bike per bike and keeping the same diets ( using the same chemical assistance lol) modern cyclists have no chance against the 1970's cyclists, they would be on par with the mid 1980's but not early 1980's cyclists due to much inferior gear.

I was too young to appreciate that Ireland has the two best cyclists in the world with Stephen and Sean. Two national treaures.
kudos to the producer of these highlights, they're like watching a movie!
EXCELLENT 🎉THANKS 🙏 FOR KEEPING THE SPORT ALIVE!

What's up with the awful music over the commentary at the beginning?
Roche a consumate time trialist buried Delgardo and had earned it in sufferance up La Plagne
Love the music. Reminds me of Bladerunner
Terrible TERRIBLE music and SOOO LOUD!!! Impossible to hear the commentary 😒
Find another copy...it's worth it.
Don’t waste your time. The video quality is atrocious
