  • I'm a scale modeller... among other things, and this channel is geared toward those that are thinking about joining the hobby, just started in the hobby, or are returning to the hobby after an absence. ((Not children. Our hobby uses many toxic chemicals and dangerous tools and thus is definitely not appropriate for children.))
I only respond to questions in the comment sections regarding How-to and furthering the knowledge of those in my target audience. I have no time or inclination to deal with rivet counters or those with "constructive criticism".
I post my work to inspire, not to be critiqued. If that's your thing... piss off.
My facebook page where I post photos and more details about my work can be found here.

I like the "light" grey color you used on the hull. In my opinion, it is more effective to paint the light and shadow tone of a chosen color, rather than so-called "paint-chip" dogma or declared color orthodoxy for scale models - especially with ship models.

As an Englishman/yachtsman, I'm going to point out 'gunwale' is pronounced 'gunnel'...nice build 😎. 👽

Nice, honest comments about the photo etch. I often limit my PE to the railings and cranes on 1/450 and 1/350 models. I don't see the point at 1/700.

I'm pretty sure that with my eyes, I wouldn't even see 1/700 railings haha.

There are no color photographs because color film hadn't been invented. However, We do have the original Admiralty specifications. The bottom of the hull was a deep red. The Tamiya 'Hull Red', is way too dark. A lot of the oil paintings have the colors pretty much correct. ^_*

None of the photographs I have found show a black 'boot strap'
