I have no time or inclination to deal with rivet counters or those with "constructive criticism".

Great job on the panther 432 diorama

If no track hangers or broken off what’s best for for a scratch material, something from sprues ? Thanks Michael.. also thanks on how sweet hot chocolate became using eggnog, nice thought by your daughter for her dad… now in Ohio with snow, it’s been 44 years since last dealing with void, white stuff🎶✌️
I can't imagine life without snow haha. Life would just be... broken haha. If you mean the track hangers on the tiger I? It would be pretty difficult to make them from scratch, but it's definitely possible. I'd use styrene card, in fact, I have used styrene card for some. In 1/35 scale in the past, as well as some on the hobby boss tiger. I wasn't happy with them though, so I took some off of some moulded on parts that were stuck to some spare tracks from another kit. It's a bit rough looking, but better looking that my scratch build ones. But... styrene card is the easiest material to use. 3mm thick card is what I used for the 1/16 tiger. I think 1mm might do for 1/35
From where I am sitting these Tigers look great already!
Thanks
Nice work on the Tigers Michael. It's coming together beautifully. Will look forward to the next update on the pinwash and weathering 👌👌👌
Thanks 👍
Looking good Mike !
Have you ever looked at beading wire for the tow cables, or maybe that's what's on the hobbyboss tank.
I believe that it is beading wire.
Nice progress on these baby’s 🌟👍🌟
Thanks 👍
Hi Mike Real Tow cables do get kink marks that won’t straighten out until under heavy load, and will never sit straight after use as they do develop a memory. Don’t give up on your Tiger yet mate, modellers are supposed to be masters of improving their subjects 😂
I probably should have been specific and said, tiger tank tow cables haha.
Wish I'd watched this a year ago, as I did the same thing by buying a 10kg bag of air dry clay, not realizing it was in one large bag! Theoretically you can reactivate it once its dry by grinding it up, and adding water to reform the clay, don't know if it works as I haven't tried it yet.
that one I don’t know know either. I might have to find out though, when I start working on the surface of the diorama that I’m working on now. I was planning on using that ten lb bag haha
I'm really surprised how few views this series seems to have got as it was my favorite till the Moser Karl came along. It also had an impact and sent me down a huge rabbit hole concerning the Volkswagen Beetle , the Renault 4CV and the Morris minor, trying to work out who copied who (I have a lot of love he Renault 4 CV as it was the car I spent my childhood in from the late 60's to early 70s). I also ended up with the very unsatisfactory 1/48 Tamiya type 82E, to try to scratch an itch, to solve it I ended up hunting down the Ryefield 1/35 Type 82E,which I could have got everywhere, till I wanted one. May be because of my age, and my childhood reading all the old school techniques in various modelling books from the 70's and 80's, your work speaks to me more and I can spend the last 4 days happily watching and listening to you work whilst building 1/150 structures for my urban railway and also plaining my 1/35 railway (running on HO track as it scales almost perfectly to the 600mm German Feldbahn). Thanks for all your work bring these dioramas to us.
It's my pleasure. My vids don't get many views fro a lot of reasons. Mostly, it's because I'm irrelevant in the face of all the bullshit modelling products that people think are convienient. And... I swear more than what a lot of people probably like... and I tend to be a bit blunt and ranty. All of which makes a lot of people unhappy I guess. But. ... I care not haha. I'm not making vids for money. It's for fun. ;) and if I can help someone along the way... I win haha.
Had to laugh at the comment that your not the type of modeler that spends a year on a diorama! How about two years then...
haha ya… if only we could see into the future and see how foolish we all are haha
Hi, watched all to the end, only 4 years after it was released as I'm catching up...
Hahaha you didn’t miss hahaha
crackling work Mike absolutely awsome . Iwhish you and your family a happy new year .
Another great demonstration and explanation of how you work with pigments! Nice fire damage applied on the T34 as well. Thanks for sharing Michael, take care and keep up the good work my friend!
Glad it was helpful!
T34 is coming along nicely, good to see someone trying to explain how to proper weather (or not weather) your vehicles! Lot's of useful info shared Michael, thanks for that, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
glad to be of service
So manydetails to enjoy here, wonderful work...Big like and Merry Christmas!!
Thank you Happy Christmas
Hey man good to see you still working. The A10 kind of funny my nephew wanted one so he’s working away at it. Sorry to hear about your mother. Lost my mom in 2017. Again good to see you well. Merry Christmas take care.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas. It's been a rough year, but it's great to know people are still enjoying the channel.
Good day Sir. I saw your diorama featured at the 2024 model show and now I'm subscribed. I myself is a beginner model and look to you master builders for tips. I only build 1:35 scale German armor. So thank you for the tip about the spare tracks not rusted. I've seen on Tiger 331 at the tank museum that the covers for the exhausts are discolored to a purple color. Have you seen it?
I’m far from being a master my friend. But what I know, I try to share. As for the tiger in the tank museum, I assume you mean tiger 131 in the bovington tank museum. I’ve only seen it in photos, bovington is about 4600 kilometres from me haha. The exhaust shrouds on that tank are over 80 years old, and are still in use. So they are very poor examples for reference. The shrouds on tigers during service in the war did discolour rapidly and rusted very quickly as well. They were the most weathered part of the tiger, aside from the tracks. So beating them up would be a very appropriate thing to do. Keeping in mind to what they look like in your reference photos for whatever tiger that you’re building. The shrouds on my two tigers were slightly damaged and lightly worn from exhaust heat. So I’ll be trying to match that as best as I can when I get to it.
Never get tired of looking and admiring your work, Michael. All the best to you and your family.
Thanks Mark. Same to you, happy holidays
Michael, Merry Christmas to you And to your family! That Diorama is something i would never been able to do.... Huge! Beautiful! Stay safe And Merry Christmas!
thanks Alex, happy Christmas to you and yours bud
Have a Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year! 🎅 The Sevastopal dio was a huge undertaking and to see it finished must have given you a real sense of accomplishment (sad that your mom never got to see it completed, though😢) Looking forward to what the New Year brings but first I have to get caught up on the Tiger build episodes! 🤦
thanks Jerry. happy holidays buddy
Merry Christmas Michael and your family
Happy Holidays to you too!
it's not so much a diorama as a panorama. "a. : an unobstructed or complete view of an area in every direction. provides a panorama of the entire bay. b. : a comprehensive presentation of a subject." Impressive undertaking, beautifully made and brilliantly shot.
thanks Ben happy holidays bud
@@CoensScaleModelling and you mate.

Informative and Inspiring. Figures are Impressive and from the video, can't see how they could be improved on. Thanks for sharing, Coen.

Great and quite in depth review on those aibrushes Michael, good to hear that you like them, that makes their purchace worthwhile! Learnt a bunch of stuff today as well! Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!

Thanks for this video Mr C 😳🙄🥴 uummmmm Anita’s just blown a fuse total doolally on my ass because I chopped 6” off her wooden broom handle for a sticky holder thingy I even rounded the end and rubbed my sweaty hands over the clean wood to weather it but she still noticed so I’m in the dog house BIG TIME 😜😜😜 it’s Christmas soon so I’ll surprise her with an extra present don’t exactly think she’ll thank me for it but hey it’s the thought that counts… right 🤔😅🤪 I know… I’m a twat 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway another wonderful video 😎🤩😍 I’ve actually just got the Dragon JagdPanther G2 kit on eBay for £35 inc postage 😍😍😍 and it has metal barrel, extra PE AND a lovely set of already made up FriulModel tracks 😂😂😂 I know I’m a JAMMY GIT 😅😅😅 so basically I paid for the tracks and got everything else thrown in free 😳😳😳 I was recently looking at that ushi stuff and was writing it up in my to get modelling reminder note book and I broke my pencil 😢 whilst sharpening it I look down on my cutting mate at the pile of wood chips and there was a pile of lead dust so that pencil is now no more the dust is in an old Tamiya paint pot the wood shavings went in my pestle and mortar and ground up for scatter or leaves or whatever 🤪🤪🤪 again another huge saving for me thanks AGAIN to you 🤩🤩🤩 Best wishes to you and the family Inc Murphy 😍😍😍
Glad to be of service my friend haha :)
Now I understand Mr C so sorry for badgering you for so long saying I can send you this that or the next thing 😔😔😔 so please don’t think I was being a twat 🥵🥵🥵 Apart from that I’m loving these videos especially this one on moss, then the bushes and what to use for the trunks and leaves etc… outbloodystanding my friend I watch these videos over and over again and sometimes I find some I’ve missed… like these… you know my memory is pants but I know I have these videos to always go back to so it’s a life line for me, my encyclopaedia of modelling how to’s 🤓🤓🤓 I don’t bother now looking for other TH-camrs as they constantly force products down my throat and I find that kind of upsetting 🥵🥵🥵 but you use natural or man made stuff that’s cheap as chips and easily available to us AND you explain EVERYTHING in such great detail I understand completely it’s just my memory lets me down so I rewatch your videos BUT that’s not boring to me or whatever as I enjoy all your videos so much that I never get bored 😊😅😜 some I know I’ve watched before but just don’t remember 🥴🙄🤪 but anyway my dear friend thanks as always for taking the time and expense, in money and time, you do make a great deal of difference to not just my modelling and I even now have some of my RC modelling friends watching your videos. Most are like me… in total awe of what you achieve for so little money 🤩🤩🤩 you take care and all the very best regards to you and your family… by the by I find it nice hearing children in the background having fun 😎🤩😍 that’s there job, to have fun and bring us happiness 😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lately when Sam is playing his video games with his buddies, it sounds more like he's being murdered by zombies... but ya.. It's nice Haha And you're never a bother Kenny
Well I did that but it was a completed tank fell off the bench O yes massive explosion of road wheels , gear, figures, track
I dropped a hard hat full of dry wall screws on a dragon tiger I that I had spend two months building once. It was nearly done too haha. Smoosh So… I know the feeling
Thank you fucking GOD !!!! No I’m not calling you GOD here Mr C I mean thank you for someone properly explaining weathering on WWII vehicles!!! As you know I was in the RAF and although our vehicles/aircraft where oldish… aircraft would be one to two years old but our vehicles some where years old and none of them had chips or rust on them we’d have been strung up for letting our vehicles/ aircraft look like that and I know the Germans were almost to the point of stupidity the same way ie keeping their vehicles in tip top condition. Yes the might get dirty with bombs exploding near by throwing goodness knows what into the air and landing on them 🥴🥴🥴 I worked on Harriers and we’d be in woods on exercises ( sneaky hovering bastards ) so our equipment used to get covered in all sorts of crap but a broom would soon clear off most crap so ye I heartily agree with your ideas on our modelling ideas at the moment that is to bash the living daylights out of our models 😳😳😳 I’m actually scared to show my models as I do very little damage to them, shell hits are different but rust, dents etc no because most of there vehicles were not around for that long, a year at the most in regards to armour, maybe a bit longer for trucks and half tracks etc anyway I’m waffling on so… thank you very much for explaining this FAD everyone’s going through and how wrong it is !!! Only people being impressed are the greedy bastards pumping out all the so called wonder products 🥵🥵🥵 oh and if anyone’s reading this Mr C has many how to’s on making all these wonder products for peanuts so give them a look… you’ll learn something AND save a bloody fortune… trust me I have 😁😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍👍
thanks Kenny you’ve been missed buddy
@ sorry for the absence Mr C. Loosing my friend hit me hard plus I got a new toy to play with… Nikon D850 camera. So been busy learning how to use that 😳🙄🤪 but colder weathers setting in so I will get back to my bench soon and catch up on all I’ve been missing out on. You tell it truthfully… modelling, you always have that’s why I respect you so much. Plus your “How To’s” I reckon the money I’ve saved from your tips bought me my D850 camera well over £2,000 I kid you not my dear friend 😁😁😁 now that might sound an exaggeration but at £6 a pop for a wash, same for pigments it soon adds up I can tell you 🥴😅 I know you hate being told how kind you are but in the 8 or 9 years I’ve been following you you’ve never once led me wrong, you’ve never mugged me off with a stupid question you’ve just been you helpful, respectful, knowledgeable and a good friend so… I owe you a lot my friend and then some 😅😅😅 so THANK YOU for being YOU !!!
sorry to hear about the figures - gutting when things like that happen. Still, doing puzzles is supposed to be good for the brain.
All fixed now. I managed to recover every figure, except the tip of one rifle barrel. So I just replaced the rifle. SO... Yay :)
@@CoensScaleModelling just one lost barrel tip - I call that a win.
If there was an explosion within the tank enough to blow the turret off wouldn't there be more damage within the tank? I have a similar idea in 1/35 so this vid has been very useful, thank you
Long time follower, great series, I loved the airbrush tutorial, I would like to know more about your water fall spray booth and what you think of it? Once again thank you for sharing your knowledge. Keep it going!
Glad to be of service William. I review the spray booth in video number 6. You weren’t the only fella to ask haha.
ok, that's cool.
I'm with you on the over-weathering. All these obsessive chippers and rustoholics need to get a model garbage truck or a tractor so they can crap on it to their hearts content. Mind you - at the other end of the spectrum you get some very clinical types who make their models (mostly planes, I've noticed) so pristine that they just don't look real at all. That Budzijk (? literally no idea how to spell that) guy is a bit like that - he's an incredible craftsman but his models look like models. I don't understand how someone can be so brilliant when it comes to creating proper scale canopy frames, but who refuses to add the 'in scale' details you get from subtle weathering. Each to his own I suppose.
maybe you’re on to something… someone should run out an entire line of garbage truck and construction vehicle kits, then they can leave us armour guys alone hahahaha. I have no idea how to spell his name either, nor do I know what his work looks like. I know who you’re talking about, but I don’t follow his work. Sounds like I’m not missing anything haha
@@CoensScaleModelling He does very occasional youtube videos (Scale Model Workshop)- and to be fair, he is an incredible model maker....mind you, he has so much hardcore equipment - real lathes and vacuum formers and all sorts. I don't think he's ever just cut a little length of plastic rod without knowing exactly how long it is - "that'll do" is not in his vocabulary. One thing I agree with him on is that he says rivets on planes are out of scale. But while he fills them in or sands them off, I think it's one of those things where you have to have something there or you lose that realism.
I try to keep things simple, and achievable by other people. so his style of modelling probably isn’t something that would interest me… or a lot of folks. I’m sure he has a following, details are definitely important in scale representation, but sometimes it’s possible to take it … into the beyond hahaha
@@CoensScaleModelling Yeah. while I appreciate all his tips and techniques - it's not something the average modeller has the time or budget to emulate. Like you say - you can take things too far sometimes.
Thank you Mike for the shout out
Great topic on weathering and chipping. All of your older examples look too cool to be concerned with exacting accuracy but agree with the pursuit of historical representation. There is always a freedom with fictitious vehicle subjects. Lots of non friendly paint elements in a war zone environment that can cause chipping even in a short amount of time. I believe the current trends have been influenced by the figure painting techniques that often exaggerate paint effects that are not realistic but are more artistic. I do build some armour. A 1/35 RFM Sherman E8 with interior done as if rolled out of the factory for a test run on a dusty road. With David Parker's Super King book I have been working slowly on a 1/16 Trumpeter King Tiger. Corrected/added some of the missing detail to the kit but plan on something different. It will be built in metallics. Interior lighting with l.e d.s. With a few pieces needing made the two turret types from the kit will be interchangeable.
David Parker’s book is brilliant, no argument there, well outside my price zone though haha. Certainly a great bit of reference for interiors

Watched, 'Kelly's Heroes' for the 40th ? time.. maybe 50th. Far from trusting movies to be historically accurate like the phoney Tiger 1s. The condition of the vehicles is reasonably convincing. The scene with cowboy in the half track parked inside the barn told to take it out into the rain: 'We've been polishing these things up for two days. Now if we take them out there in that rain, they're gonna rust up on us.' and of course, Oddball: I'm like, don't let the dirt and the rust hang you up. We like to give the impression we just out of action badly in need of rest and reorganization. That way nobody bugs us.' Convenient way to explain the condition of borrowed thirty plus year old Yugoslavian Shermans for the film. As you pointed out, Mike. It applied to the vehicles in the movie. They are stained and occasionally muddy/dusty from dirt roads.
Hollywood wouldn’t know what history was, if it jumped up and bit it on the arse. hahaha after watching silly movies like saving Ryan’s privates, and fury… I almost gave up on hollywoods abilities to make them. ah well, they’re entertainment, not his lessons
@@CoensScaleModelling Watched fury once and will never again. Killing Ryan's privates for me was the scene with the P-51Ds at the end. We can only fall back to our uninformed but happy childhood memories of watching inaccurate films from the past to remember how they were part of the inspiration to learn more and get into scale modelling. Dunkirk, the Christopher Nolan film has the outstanding arial sequences that I cannot find fault with so it is possible to recreate events or scenarios that smart people like us can accept. A recent restoration of a Bf109-G6 fighter relied on scale modellers to achieve accuracy with the painting and markings as there was not another source with as much information.
@@SEMJW I don't know anywhere near enough about aircraft specifics of WWII to say if something is accurate or not. Though, I did like Dunkirk. That's really interesting information about that B17... the same can be said for the tanks at teh Bovingtion Tank Museum. David ... the curator, is a scale modeller. A pretty decent one. So, research and understanding facts is definitely in his play book hahaha
Hey mike another 1/16 tiger awesome..I'm currently building the 1/16Trumpeter King Tiger , its a huge beast haha..take care mate , keep modellling..
Right on! That truly is a massive unit haha. Bigger than I'd probably want to build I think. The Tiger I is big enough hahaha. Expensive enough too hahaha. Stock up on paint... you're gonna need it... these things are paint hogs :O
Received the Mobius 0.3 a week ago and it performs well and recommend them. First time on your channel, Michael. Like the logo. I have subscribed. I have endured/tolerated some odd comments posted on my videos. Almost all are from people that have no content on their own channel. I always reply to them respectfully. Like you I do the hobby for enjoyment and build for my own approval. It was the encouragement of UK modellers that I started posting on YT. I live in Burlington, Ontario.
You're nicer than I am bud haha I don't really do nice and respectful to trolls or morons. haha I just delete and block them. I have no time in my day to have pointless conversations with paper people. I like talking with folks that enjoy the hobby, and have fun with it. :) I share my work to inspire others to try the hobby, or to toss ideas to those already emersed. But mostly, like you, I build for myself :)
@@CoensScaleModelling The slightly strange comments are rare on the aircraft reveals except for one on a pair of, in flight 1/24 Mk.IX Spitfires. Weirdos came out of the woodwork on a 1/35 Lost in Space in flight Jupiter 2. Comments trying to be funny, questions about the show and the ship. Questions asked as a guise to write a dumb statement. I ended up using cut and paste on an all purpose response to answer the common questions.
Hahahaha Sounds very typical for many comments that I get. I dont bother entertaining them myself. Even cutting and pasting replies is too much work for me haha. If they seem to be just troglodytes looking for a reaction, I just give them the boot, and they bother me no more.
I've watched a few of your videos now, including the one with the Jupiter 2, which is superb work by the way, and I see the comments that you mean. I get those all the time. Mostly I just ignore them, then block the commentor, like I said. Saves time in the future.
@@CoensScaleModelling Thanks for the replies, Michael. On the subject I will end with this. I agree with you for the obvious trolls not deserving attention. Having a YT channel it is expected. I can't help but remind myself of, 'Pale Blue Dot', by Carl Sagan to keep things in perspective. Trolls might not be so trollie if they watched one of the many PBD videos on YT before trolling. On the other side of this. I experienced disbelief and strong opinions when mentioning on kit reviews that the new Airfix Spitfires rivet detail on the leading edge should be filled and made level if the intent is to reflect accurately, a in service RAF, high speed aircraft. Proof of putty and primer filler used is shown in a official RAF training film I have on my channel. Without the film I believe some would have been down right hostile and I would not bother trying to help.
oooh waterfall lol .. Looking good Mike :)
Nice work Michael. For someone who doesn't like to paint, you do a legendary job mate. Additionally, I've never seen a paint booth with a water curtain before. Does it work good?
Thanks. I got the paint booth to help with the dust, as well as the fumes. So far it’s doing a fantastic job of it… as long as I remember to keep the water tank full haha. the reason that it was making a gurgling noise at the beginning of the video, was because the water level was too low.
I have all 3 model and love them.
I di too now... I ordered the .3mm modius haha
I would like to hear about your paint booth
I will try to remember to have a chat about it in my next vid :)
@@CoensScaleModelling thanks I would really appreciate it I love watching your vids
Great stuff Michael, I recently got both these airbrushes too, and have found them to both be excellent. The .2 is fantastic for very fine work.
I've ordered the .3mm Mobius now hahaha

FB has lost it's mind, if you "hide" something, FB takes that as a challenge and gives you three more pages on the same topic. Want lots of vegan food pages, block one.
hahaha very well described
Those are some wonderfull 3D printed parts from Ian! They spiced up the figures a lot! A good rant for FB also, really from all the people, they chose you for monster trucks. Lol, advertisement done right ahahaha! Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!
