Great question. Fundamentally it would apply to hook grip as well. The idea is that you want to sit the barbell lower down in the hands to avoid the bar rolling during the lift. However you need to consider that the position that the barbell sits in will be different depending on their finger lengths and the position they need to be in, in order to actually hook the barbell.
