Thank you for a good, easy tutorial about how to paint glass jars. After I watched it, I got 2 jars out & did exactly what you said and they turned out beautiful!
I appreciate this video so much! I have a few candle jars that are clear that I would love to turn into clear amber jars. I’m planning on turning them into soy wax candles - so filling the jar with hot wax is an important part of the process! Could you give me some guidance on painting these candle jars? Thank you!
Thanks for this video!!! Love them all. Did you print the graphics on regular printer paper with an inkjet printer??? I have done some decoupage and printed the pictures on my ink jet printer, but, had to spray them with a coat of sealer, other wise, when I did it before, the ink ran once the Modge podge touched it. So, any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Having trouble finding that Varathane that you used but will poly acrylic do the same thing since that's what your link is for? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Hi, I'm new to this but loving having a go, you're very inspiring. I made your chalk paint in black but it's dried more of a grey colour any tips in keeping it dark?
I start with paint primer, which makes the paint stick to the glass. It's the same primer you use in professional painting. (I used to be a contractor.) You can buy primer in any paint store.
Great tutorial. Thank you very much. Can I bake the painted jars with the graphics to seal the homemade chalk paint and make the finished items washable?
They will not be washable with chalk paint on them. You can sell them well with poly acrylic but that will make them water resistant so you can wipe with a damp rag. Thanks for watching Andrea
@@OurUpcycledLife Thank you very much for your response. Can you suggest a specific polyacrylic sealer? Do you think mod podge will work? I am painting Kratky containers for plants and time to time the jars will need to be washed.
I don’t think a chalk painted jar will stand up to be washed even with a sealer on it. You might be better off to spray paint them . That would be more durable ❤️
So I'm planning opening my own small business and was wondering I'm going to be painting the designs on would this still work for the paint so it doesn't chip and come off ?
The acrylic latex interior housepaint dries stretchy not stiff like regular acrylic paint does.Because of this acrylic latex interior housepaint doesn't crack on non-absorbent surfaces like glass, plastic and metal.Regual acrylic paint (without the additional latex) dries stiff and therefore cracks on all non-absorbent surfaces as soon as it's dry. Another form of acrylic latex interior housepaint (that dries stretchy not stiff on non-absorbent surfaces) is multisurface paint and chalkboard paint sold at Dollar Tree.
What about using acrylic paints on like glass pumpkins? Do you need a primer? Can you use acrylic on / over chalk paint for the stencil design? Or maybe better clarified . . . Can chalk paint be used as the primer for the acrylic? Also, doesn’t the Varathane top coat cause yellowing? I was always told to use Polycrylic?? And when you seal the jar, if you used the acrylic over chalk paint, does that keep the acrylic from coming off?
Thanks for watching ♥️ I always use chalk paint as the base and then yes you can put acrylic over top of that. I always seal with a poly acrylic sealer on all my projects. Hope that helps 🌸
