I was born in 1990 n I completely agree with you. To me, the boxy Mercs n BMWs up to the early 2000s tick all the boxes. Pre merger AMGs, Brabus, Koenig Specials, pre merger Alpina, etc are so cool. Over engineered literal tanks n makes good power. The current gen Mercs all look the same now barring the wheelbase. That too gets confusing because the C n E Classes are offered in the Limousine/long wheelbase trim makin it even more similar to the eye. To me, the last of the true greats were the 6.2L n 7.2/7.3L AMG cars. The TT V12s were ok too but the new TT 4.0s just don't cut it for me, regardless of how much more power they make. And let's not even get into BMW's new gen styling!
I'm thinkin of pickin up a W123 n do a full reatomod. Was initially lookin at doin a 6.2L swap but those motors are insanely expensive to be shipped here to India. Costs almost 2x the cost of a W123 car in fact. I haven't yet fully decided whether to go with a W123 or a W124 yet.
I think these are the most timeless MBs. No one that knew these cars will ever forget that big grille and big emblem. The best LOOKING? Not sure about that.
I remember I once saw a white Konig Mercedes coupe just like the one shown here in northern Michigan. The red 500E wagon is my favorite. I just love this era of Mercedes. This is absolute Mercedes heaven. Thank you.
Have you guys heard of patina collective. They have like 400 Mercedes all types of Benz cars. All of them from 70s 80s 90s. It’s insane. ABC specials, konig specials and all that stuff.
Came to talk about that red wagon, but ultimately I saw the milk crate in the car inside the body shop and thought, this place is super high end I’m glad to see those guys do builds sitting on milk crates just like we do in my shop.
Great story, and what a collection CMS has. That Koenig is quite the piece of history, I am grateful it has a caretaker that will honor it's integrity.
What a cool collection, and a guy who you can tell puts real love into these projects - you don't do what he's doing for the money, it's so much harder to restore a car than most people grasp.
I’ve always had a fascination with Koenig Special, especially the Ferrari Testarossa they did where they remove the side vents and add a wing (not the F40-like one).
I saw this car when I was getting gas in Playa Vista, I saw it at the shop and instantly took photos! Ha, one week later - it’s in my TH-cam feed. That’s life living in LA.
I used to love looking in middle of the lowrider magazine there was section with import body kits it had these type of body kits I used love that section so awesome 90s Mercedes are awesome
He's right about that 1000 SEL you either was an executive, athlete or a drug dealer. And in my neighborhood upper Manhattan, NY Drug dealers had those cars
Very cool stuff. I have always loved the Benz's of this era. When I was a Kid if You saw someone in one They must have lot's of $$$. Drove one at about 17 year's old and everything I though was right on the money. Great to drive & look at. 😎👌
here this 80s 90s chassis you can buy working cars for 1000 Euro (the bigger more rare model ofc cost more ) these chassis re my favorite and the next gen too i want to get one and put a 13b in it
4:55 There's a gentleman in Germany who actually made a 500E Wagon. He grafted the roof and tailgate of the wagon onto a 500E's body/floor/underpinnings
I think the "fully optioned SGS" will be difficult, because a lot of the hifi-stuff they fitted (like music systems and TVs) is incredibly rare nowadays, especially in working condition. They had whole hifi-stacks in the center console. Maybe SGS can help, they're still around (providing repairs, service and such)
Im a second owner of a simple, clean example of a 1988 W124 300E Sedan, in white with black interior. IMO these are some of the finest body styles Mercedes ever produced in the 80’s, although these stock 4dr W124’s don’t get much love and recognition IMO b/c of its simplicity. I love mine, it was a car I always admired when I couldn’t afford one in my 20’s.
I remember, when I was a kid, there was always a red Mercedes Convertible withe that ultra wide Koenig body kit right around the corner where i lived... didn't know what it was back then.
i got to say one more thing. to anybody who doesnt know these cars this man is not just a body shop guy he is a car builder like kingit design. they just do different types of cars. that red t124 wagon for his wife has had almost as metal custom work to it as one of kevin harts sema cars. to section out pieces from 3 or 4 different cars to then be metal worked just make the rear door have a flared look then twice the amount of work to do the rear quarter. custom jambs and custom gas neck pocket then doing the same on the other 3 corners of the car it has had as much metal and polymer(bumper covers) work than the average custom show car. it not an easy thing to do all that for an inch or 2 of flares but to an amg guy or myself, that makes it a totally different car. a car we all wished they would have made. its a very special car but then all his cars are. the dark blue wide c126 w/light gray leather on pentas full nuts and bolts resto. utterly insane
I was a teenager in the 80s and W(V) illi Koenig, designed the stakes not only for that car but also many others, and there are 1 or 2 more cars out there. I'm trying to think of the tome that used to show RINSPEED, KOENIG, DP, AMG, BRABUS, and all the modifiers for the manufacturers in the 80s. Hell!, even ASTON MARTIN did a lowly famous badge engineered car and body kitted it, and increased performance. But it came out too late, and was too costly. Earlier petrol grades, had a higher RON rating but also had zinc , that is why valves sink into heads .
I would LOVE to get an idea of pricing for aa 560SEC Widebody or 300CE Widebody with the MB motor swap. Will be reaching out asap, this is a great find to see on the channel
I was born in the 70s and when I think of Mercedes Benz this is the exact period that's ingrained into my mind. THESE are the best looking MB's ever.
Double THUMBS UP

@@SupraSavthe BEST! Toyota straight ripped this design for their LS400 back in day... almost a carbon copy 🤦🏾♂️
The red wagon is absolutely stunning. What a car!
🤮
couldn't agree more!@@mickjames666
Every of those is stunning.
Lovely to see someone with such a large collection still geeking out over the small rear bumper corrections he did.
Shant took his Armenian love for Mercedes to another level. Jeeeeee zus! What is this collection! That red wagon had me borderline drooling
Every auto mechanic shop in the 90s - 2000s had at least 1 picture of a bodied up Merc...gawd this video is a childhood dream❤️
That wagon is my favorite hands down
You should visit the Patina Collective. They have HUNDREDS of these tuner Benzes.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
The patina collective was possible thanks to curated the og is curated
3:04 The dad of a girl I loved drove a car like this in the eighties. Thanks TH-cam for making a platform that makes all of this possible.
I remember I once saw a white Konig Mercedes coupe just like the one shown here in northern Michigan. The red 500E wagon is my favorite. I just love this era of Mercedes. This is absolute Mercedes heaven. Thank you.

That wagon is fire
As a kid growing up in the 80's I remember these cars, just amazing. The AMG's were the true ICON's of the 80's.
Incredible prestine collection.... that 1000sel is something; didn't know they exsisited!! 🔥
This really motivated me to get my dad’s 300E looking good. Thank you Larry and Hagerty
Came to talk about that red wagon, but ultimately I saw the milk crate in the car inside the body shop and thought, this place is super high end I’m glad to see those guys do builds sitting on milk crates just like we do in my shop.
I love how all the bonnet struts creak it's lovely
THE AMG before it became part of MB. Loved it!
I have a 91 560 SEC that I've modified and made into a Euro clone, it looks great but this is a whole other level. Big bucks.
I swear man, everything this guy films just turns to gold for me. Well done
Absolutely amazing, this man is living the dream!!!!
That’s an astonishing collection! I absolutely love 80s Mercedes
Great story, and what a collection CMS has. That Koenig is quite the piece of history, I am grateful it has a caretaker that will honor it's integrity.
these cars were some sort of under appreciated gems and seems like they are going to start appreciate in value
Damn This Show Looks So Sick..
These Mercedes Are Hands Down Beautiful..
I Have To Go.. Definitely On My Bucket List..
What a cool collection, and a guy who you can tell puts real love into these projects - you don't do what he's doing for the money, it's so much harder to restore a car than most people grasp.
These cars are gorgeous. This man knows what he's doing that's for sure ! Astonishing and impressive, this work deserves a lot of respect.
I've been watching CMS YT channel for a bit now. He cleans up at any car show he goes to for a reason.
Impressive collection!!
I’ve always had a fascination with Koenig Special, especially the Ferrari Testarossa they did where they remove the side vents and add a wing (not the F40-like one).
Yeah! The cars from Koenig Specials n Gemballa from back in the day are straight fire! 🔥
When I was young in the early 2000s I thought the Ferrari Koenig's were actually Koeniggseggs and Christian's prototypes :)
CMS is literally responsible for my love & addiction for OG AMG Mercedes.
That red wagon is sooo dope. Love that
Beautiful cars
It's watching other car guys with fiery passion(and boatloads of money...😥) that helps me keep my car dreams alive.
Koenig is the nicest widebody kits soo good
I saw this car when I was getting gas in Playa Vista, I saw it at the shop and instantly took photos! Ha, one week later - it’s in my TH-cam feed. That’s life living in LA.
14:18 The mirror finish on the blk paint is crazy ! Then there is the car collection and its ...just wow
i love these 80s and 90s Mercedes
3:16 😍
8:30 this kind of interior feels so comfy
I used to love looking in middle of the lowrider magazine there was section with import body kits it had these type of body kits I used love that section so awesome 90s Mercedes are awesome
I remember the CEC ads in European Car Magazine
me too!
... awesome benzs, best of the best ... 👌😀👍🏁
There’s just something special about these 80s AMGs
I bet the MB museum is jealous of this guy.
To own a new Mercedes is nothing special if you pulled up on the block back in the late 80s or early 90s in one of these you were king
Strong Miami Vice vibes 🙂
He's right about that 1000 SEL
you either was an executive, athlete or a drug dealer. And in my neighborhood upper Manhattan, NY
Drug dealers had those cars
Amazing. Love the cars, love the passion he has for them.. Thanks for the story.
That wagon tho.... omg
My daily is a slammed 300CE on wide wheels. This guy has got it right!
I was a teenager in the 80's/ early 90's, and I was lucky enough that my dad had a few of these Merc's (not the AMG versions, unfortunately).
Red wagon is a dream
Dear editor: Hold the camera still and keep a shot on the screen for more than 3 seconds (maybe 12 or 15) and then I might watch these.
A neighbouring gangster had a Koenig in red in the early 90's when I was kid... awesome car...
This man and his entire team are artists!
This is what I like to see passionet collectors..Bravo

I absolutely love the AMG wheels from that era.
My inner Miami Vice is coming out.. I feel like throwing on the Don Johnson pink paints, shirt and white sport coat with my shoulder holster and 10mm!

) these chassis re my favorite and the next gen too i want to get one and put a 13b in it
13:23 W111 with a modern AMG engine? That is SO dope. The red 500E wagon too! A bunch of absolutely sick cars!
Love these cars ,quite the story, and shop Awesome 80's

Shant ! The godfather of Mercs mods. Thx U !!!
Larry, you totalled nailed this one. Fantastic content. As a 6L 500E owner appreciate the work involved with these cars. Great job
Absolute masterpieces
That red wagon is gorgeous
What an artist.
I remember that thing from my old Road & Track mags. What a beast!!
These guys are patina collective, without the fucking egos!
I have reached halfway in the video and stopped it with a big smile.
Amazing video. Amazing graftmanship. Supline restoration.
Wow, this is an amazing video. I had the w140 2 door 1997 loved it.
That red wagon is insane. Best looking Benz u have in there

CMS is mmy kinda shop. Focusing into perfection. I'm happy by watching the effort in these cars.
Awesome! Thanks
Trying to figure out how to contact the owner of CMS; I have a basket case '84 Euro 430SEC mechanically complete he may want.
I’m sure they made a soft top version of this..beautiful!
I learned that this car exists from reading Shonan Junai Gumi

as a german, my heart is smiling
That black customer car is going to be so cool when it's done. 🔥
It’s crazy I have a 1995 sw124 black with original black interior wagon with same kit as his red one. I got it from the guys at RMC in Florida.
🥇💎 absolutely beautiful
