  • Ever find yourself struggling to get your Trance pluck in your Trance breakdown to open up nicely into a Trance lead? Well, in todays video I am going to show you how you can set this up so it opens up nicely.
Begin by selecting a pluck sound, like the one from myself & Bluffmunkey at AM Studios, and a melody from a MIDI pack. Here's how you can configure your envelopes in Spire to craft this transition:
    Amp Envelope Settings:
    Increase sustain to the maximum.
    Decrease attack and decay.
    Adjust the release as needed.
    Filter Envelope Mapping:
In Spire, the envelope is set to control the filter cutoff.
Assign the envelope to cut off one, shaping the starting point of the melody.
    Shaping the Pluck Sound:
Start with the filter fully closed.
Gradually open the cutoff to determine the initial pluck sound.
Experiment with the cutoff to find the desired starting point for your melody.
    Transition to Lead Sound:
Open the filter fully for the lead sound.
Fine-tune the amp envelope to shape the sound as it opens up.
Consider adjusting the release for a smoother transition.
    Customizing the Transition
Tailor the envelope settings to your liking, ensuring a seamless shift from pluck to lead. Experiment with different settings to find the perfect balance for your track.
    Incorporating Macros and Final Touches:
Consider routing the cutoff to a macro control for easy adjustments during production. This allows you to fine-tune the transition effortlessly. With these settings dialed in, you can smoothly transition from a pluck to a lead in your breakdowns.
    Conclusion
Mastering the art of transitioning from a pluck to a lead can elevate your trance productions. By understanding how to manipulate envelopes in your synthesizer, you can create dynamic and engaging melodies. Explore these techniques in your own tracks and unlock new creative possibilities in your music production journey.

Nice tips mate, does it not matter that the first envelope isn’t set to filter cut off 1?

No its set up like this so its plucky at the start and then moves in to the opened up shape (AMP env)

Can't you so the same using mod wheel?

    • @studiosynthsoundsb.v.383
      @studiosynthsoundsb.v.383 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

By default the modwheel just opens the filter cutoff. This technique lets the filter travel through the the first envelope, then it ends at the Amp env. When just using the filter cutoff the sound usually (depends on source oscillator's) decreases in volume when opening the filter. By using 2 stages ( the filter envelope and Amp envelope) you can reduce that so you"ll end up with a more balanced sound throughout the opening and closing of the filter.
