    Treadmill quit out of the blue. Found your video, tested the motor, worked fine. Noticed some carbonizing of the neg (black) connection. Replaced the plug...treadmill back in business. Thanks for your video and time to put it together.

    I used your method and my motor seems to be working fine however my treadmill still not working. I took the motherboard apart and found no burning area... do you have any idea?

    Hi I'm having an issue with my motor every time I turn it on the engine moves but the belt doesn't I open it up and noticed that there were sparks coming from the inside of the motor what do you think the issue is. I'm thinking its the carbon brushes any help would be really useful.

    Before replacing the motor, I would have checked the motor brushes for burn spots and wear. It is possible that one or both are not seated properly on the commutator, one or both may be broken, or they may not be making good contact, or the commutator could have burn spots. Sometimes, removing the brushes(be careful, they are not so easily placed back where they need to go) and cleaning the commutator with a commutator stone can fix the issue.

    Hi, please I need your help,my horizon Treadmill mat moves when my son goes on it but when I go on it,it suddenly stops.
    I sense it's because my weight but please I want to ask what could have gone wrong , could it be problem on the board or the motor is weak?

      Check the backing on the running belt. Should have white fiber on it. Have you seen any white fiber on the floor. How many miles does this belt have on it. I am guessing it is time for a new belt.

    Andrew, I am having the same problem on my horizon T25 treadmill. I'm hoping you will still respond. First of all, I tried to check the DC motor the way you did, however I only have a 12V power drill battery, would this be enough to power the motor? Second, I measures the DC output on the board where the motor red a d black plug into abs they give 20v, is this correct? Lastly, I don't have my horizon receipt anymore is that needed to check if the motor is still under warranty? How did you go about contacting horizon? Thanks in advance for your reply! Very useful video

    Thanks for this video,so I hook up my drill battery and the motor works fine,so does this mean mother board is bad?or could be the circuit breaker be bad and how can I test the circuit breaker?thanks

    • @taylah1218
      @taylah1218 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      most likely mcb- the only other thing can sometimes be the upper control board. (if you don't hear a relay click from mcb before it would normally go, and you also don't have incline, that can be ucb)- very rarely circuit breaker and no good way to test that really besides just replacing breaker n seeing if it fixes.

    My treadmill is making weird sounds from the motor area. The treadmill runs but my son said not to use it or it could start on fire. Where would I start to find someone to fix it? I can't afford a new one. Thanks!

      sometimes- typically there is a root cause for motors overheating/getting overloaded and this can be strain from wearable parts - causing motor brushes to tarnish with heat

      Without knowing your treadmill I'm not sure what your error message is. If it is making a burning smell it could be the motor belt or wiring. I would have it check.

      Probably motor control board. Did you lubricate unit well- old belt/deck can cause too much amp draw on mcb and over heat it shorting it out. Mcb, belt, deck prolly will fix it amd prevent it happening again

    This only tests whether motor will run, not its strength. Test its amps while using it to see if it bogs down under walking load. Fitness Tech vid shows this.

      Moon Ar There's a fuse on the motor controller. Check that first. And replace if necessary.

    There is a better way to check the motor than either of these methods. Connect a voltmeter to the red & black wires and set the meter to DC volts at ~20V range. Spin the motor by hand and observe the meter to see if a voltage is developed, typically up to about 10V. If you spin it backwards, you should see a negative voltage of similar value.
    By the way, since many treadmills are used as clothes racks and eventually discarded, the motor & controller assemblies are often scavenged for driving shop tools such as a lathe, drill press, or bandsaw. It's an excellent repurposing. My wood lathe is powered this way. The keypad can be discarded and replaced with a simple variable potentiometer for variable speed control.

    this can destroy your drill pack - if lithium batteries, the BMS board inside the battery pack can be overloaded and be damaged . speaking from experience here. Much safer to use a 12v SLA battery like a motorcycle starter battery or similar.

    • @taylah1218
      @taylah1218 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, a motor will last indefinitely. It comes down to wear/tear of belt/deck causing friction and straining the drive system and overheating things. The motors will last indefinitely as long as they are not strained due to excess amp-draw from wearable parts.

      The lower control board sends voltages that range from 0-130 volts DC to the motor based on the speed you choose to go, so 19 volts is plenty for the test. I personally used 9 volts batteries to test treadmill motors for years before cordless tools became popular.
