Trimming the Herbs by Ahoyo was believed to be the final level in Super Mario Maker, but it confirmed by the level creator that they used cheats to upload the level. Even though this disqualified the level in the goal of our team, a few people decided to still try to beat it before the servers shut down. A few days before the servers shut down on April 8, 2024, (yes, the same day as the eclipse) the level was beaten by sanyx91smm2.
If you’re wondering why the level says it has 10 clears, that’s because the other 9 clears were al hacked (meaning cheated). This is the first LEGITIMATE clear on the level!
Super Mario Maker is complete! This means we are now moving on to Super Mario Maker 2. All levels from 2019 are already complete in that game, so we are now working on all levels uploaded in 2020.

Team 0% is a group dedicated to making sure that every level in both Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2 has at least one clear on it. We have now completed Super Mario Maker and are working on 2020 of Super Mario Maker 2 as of this video.

Man, I was kinda sad when it was revealed that TTH was TAS since a bunch of people stopped grinding it after that. I am so happy that someone actually beat it, the MM1 100% clear arch feels complete now! Great job Sanyx!
The TAS can be a good representation of what could be theoretically possible in a game.
Although it is cheating in its own element, at least it isn’t extremely bogus.

@@bmeht He streamed it, live, showing all of his thousands and thousands of failed attempts. It makes it way more believable than someone just doing it offline.
Also, he practiced different sections the level in the editor on their own in order to get experience throughout the whole level without having to beat it.

I'm so glad that Trimming The Herbs was actually conquered, it would have been a sour ending if it didn't get beaten after people put so many hours into the level. MASSIVE props to Sanyx for being able to pull it off

I kept telling people that just because it was uploaded with TAS doesn't mean it's TAS-only. It just means that Ahoyoo wasn't able to upload TTH without TAS, not that it's humanly impossible. And that means that Sanyx is now officially in the top percentile of players when it comes to skill. Congratulations, I knew somebody would do it before April 8th!

Tas almost never means fully humanly impossible, it just means basically humanly impossible because getting a single frame perfect input is absurdly difficult, nevermind multiple in a row
I hated how people acted like "oh it was TAS, this one uncleared level doesn't count. We did it". Kinda disrespecful to the people who put hours/days of effort proving that it is actually possible to beat it

1:02 I don't blame Sanyx for their excitement here, they're in a position I (and most other people) will never physically understand in my entire life; Team 0%'s recent increase in popularity kinda put the spotlight on them as the guy who'd become John Mario Maker, and they fulfilled that prophecy
Congratulations to you fellas 👏, this makes me happy as hell, partially because Mario Maker in general has a special place in my heart. I actually tried dusting off my Wii U and helping the cause back in January(?), and ended up beating one or two levels (Didn't really get to do much more than that due to time issues 😔)
This is genuinely such a huge deal. Sure, someone can obviously beat the level again, but nobody can ever be the *first* to beat the level again. This is an achievement that nobody can ever take from them.

I mean, this can be arguably the most epic/difficult achievement that has ever been done in a videogame. Can you tell me how to explain why it's so amazing to my friends who don't play older games, don't speedrun, and definitely don't know what TAS is? I understand it but can't put into words.
@@hrl2k Simply put, it's a Tool Assisted Speedrun -> A speedrun in which it's not a player who play the game but some kind of program that executes perfect timed inputs. In this specific feat, there are many frame perfect inputs (which means that you have a very tiny window of time to perform them, less then 100ms) to perform (search for videos who explain this level in full detail for the correct number).
If you want to explain it effectively, you can say that this man played on par to a computer for 30 seconds on something that was considered only achievable from a computer
While teaching to everyone that no matter how skillful and precise something could be, if you train and practice enough you will eventually be able to do it

@@speedymatt1236 | I'm a bit surprised anyone remembers that, but ... I'm not sure there _is_ a proper way to compare the two since there had been people who scored a million points in Miner Disturbance before.
I was _loud_ back then, the achievement wasn't anywhere near as high on the totem pole as TTH ... it was something that I _already knew_ was doable and I guess I was just glad I could do it too, even if only once.
The harder something is, the harder it can be to believe that you did it.

I am actually in disbelief. When I started following the journey of Team 0%, I didn't think this titan of a finale would be beaten, and that we'd have to go out with the poetic but bittersweet Final Dance. Now that Trimming The Herbs has been beaten with less than 3 days left before the servers shut down for good, this story makes for the history of gaming and will be proudly recounted for generations.
