- This level was considered to be one of the hardest Mario Maker 1 uncleared levels, or basically the hardest, pretty much since it was found. It's a pretty long precision level in the SMB1 style, with plenty of different sections and difficult jumps. The ID of the level is E0E0-0000-037D-60EC.
The jump at 1:57 is probably the hardest jump out of the first parts of the level, until the bumper section shortly later. This section requires doing 3 micro jumps in a row to not die to the spike ceiling, and here I did a certain strategy to make them more consistent and shorten the clear time. I pressed the jump button and the Home menu button at the same frame so I wouldn't have to care about pressing the button for just 1 frame normally. This section was one of the hardest to get through.
The next couple parts aren't that hard, but there are still a couple difficult jumps like the ones at 3:42 (in SMM1, the left part of spikes on ground is way less forgiving than the right part) and 4:48 which require float jumps (repressing jump for more air time). The large row of hidden blocks on top of the screen have P-switches on them, which are needed to turn the 2 blocks into coins and get to the part with the 5 red coins.
After the key door, the next truly hard section is the one that starts when getting on top of the cloud with a piranha next to it. There was a point where I started getting here very often, but getting past this section was not easy because it has many jumps that are all pretty tight. On the last couple days I realized I could do a pause strat on one of them by pausing on a specific frame (if I paused a frame later I would die to the spike on top though, which is why I took it very safe). The jump at 5:58 is tight as well, if I started holding right a frame earlier or later I'd die to either the first or last muncher.
The next hard part is at 6:29, which is basically a consistency section of doing 11 times in a row the same jump. It's not exactly the same from left to right than from right to left though, because the left spike hitbox is much less forgiving than the right one, so I have to jump earlier when doing it from left to right. Floating the jumps (repressing jump) is also required to make them.
I got very consistent at this though and almost never died here when I got to this point, so it wasn't too bad.
The next thing I did is also something I found on the last couple days. I realized I could go down again and get the shelmet (after taking damage, because the game doesn't allow getting a shelmet while having a mystery mushroom powerup) so I could avoid having to do the donut block when going back. I was actually pretty consistent at it in practice but in runs I failed it 2 times, so I decided to go down again and take the shelmet.
After this I was pretty much 100% consistent at everything remaining, except maybe the last jump which I was something like 90-95% consistent at, so I was hoping to not have to experience a death there. And I didn't because I got it first try.
Overall I think this level could be considered the hardest SMM1 precision level, and comparable with the hardest SMM2 precision level (My Front Yard) even though they are 2 very different levels, My Front Yard is quite short but has really precise jumps while Beast Needle is more like a marathon.
I probably should also say that there is a high suspicion that the creator didn't actually upload this level legitimately, based on some evidence, so there's a high chance that I'm the only one who has actually beaten this.

I think needle may refer to I wanna be the guy fangames, where needle fangames are fangames that use spikes to create very strict and narrow jumps, thus being a smaller spike aka needle

This level is absolutely nuts. I didn't even know that using the home menu on your Wii U to limit the height of your jump was a thing. That is some cool tech.
Was this done to achieve a 1 frame only jump for minimum height?
@@notmo.Yes. It says in the description somewhere, it's not a requirement for a 1-frame jump but it can make it more consistent
Pause buffering for a consistent 1frame is super useful for sure

Could you imagine if Braden had managed to get that level he spent like 8 years trying to clear uploaded before this stopped accepting new level uploads. Would have made the already herculean task of clearing every remaining SMM1 level even more ridiculous, especially with levels like this still in there. Outstanding work honestly. This level is nuts.

funnily enough, i could see Trials of Death being beaten by Team 0% in just a few weeks. If you get enough very skilled players and each one of them practices a small part of the level to until they get as consistent as possible on it and they find a way for as many people as possible to meet somewhere and beat it by taking turns to do their practiced parts, it would be a legitimate clear.

This is one of the most impressive in terms of skill acheivments I have ever seen in a video game, rivaling even the peak difficulty of Geometry Dash. I compleatly agree.

You realize there's greater than a 99.99999% chance he's cheating, right? You can do the individual jumps and use a TAS to string together your successful inputs to play the level for you. This makes it look real (because any individual jump can be done by a human). However, when you sit back and think for a second: even just 10 jumps with 90% chance of dying is a 1 in 10 million chance to beat the level. It is statistically impossible that this guy beat the level without cheating.

I'd love to hear why you chose those two particular songs. I recognized the second as being related to Touhou, but it sounded unfamiliar to me. I did not expect Touhou fanwork sound track to be used.

Edit: I chose the first one because, some years ago, I used to hear a lot of custom Mario World music for ROM hacks and I remembered this one in particular, so I decided to hear the original one and that's how I found the remix version used for this video
The second one is because a chinese player, JiXiaoMai, made a lot of SMM2 videos with background music and one of those tracks was from a chinese Touhou fangame (Elegant Impermanence of Sakura), I heard all tracks from that game and I liked them, so when KingBoo said he was planning to add some music to the video instead of in-game SFX, I suggested this one in particular because I felt like it fits really good with the level style
P.S: First time I probably forgot to come back to reply to the part in which you said that you'd like to hear why I chose these particular tracks, so I'm sorry for this late edit

Okay. This is absolutely insane. If THIS can be beaten, it's almost certain to me that Team 0% can clear all uncleared levels before the servers shut down in a month and a half. Especially with the other crazy amount of progress the team has been making recently. I'm not a part of Team 0% and can't be, due to the fact that 1) I don't have a Wii U, and 2) I'm not nearly skilled enough to beat these uncleared levels, but I wish you guys the best.

@@kyraxx tth is only uncleared this late because everyone underestimated the difficulty of the level and put it off to the side for a while. turns out it was harder than everyone thought it was, and now nobody's done any grinding on it. with stuff like this, people knew it was hard from the get go, so people have been on the grind for a while (and beaten it) tth is definitely hard, but definitely not the hardest. there's a map by the same creator called bombs5 or something that is much harder than tth, and has been cleared.

I would also apologize this was just a trigger for me after being terrorised by saidaioujou fans on a shmup discord. Imagine flood posting about a boss that nobody has ever beaten in 10 years while also incapable of beating the easiest difficulty in saidaioujou. Gets on your nerves.

That's because it's not. He's cheating. He didn't show us a real life cam + hand cam perfectly synched to the game. He probably strung together successful sequences of inputs and used a TAS to complete the level for him.

Imo it isn't close to TTH difficulty because we didn't know how hard it was at the time, we thought it was just very hard but nothing new but now it's clear it's among the hardest levels ever

Lol this is took him around 60h (i think) and ark has 118h in ToD and his best run was from section 2 to the mid air thats onky a 50% run tod is waaaay harder

@@KingBoo97 Sad to say after April 2021 for Mario Maker 1. Makers could no longer upload their levels. Chain Chomp Braden completed his level on September 30, 2022. A year and a half after the deadline.
