    This has been an enriching, and dare I say fun, series to enjoy on my mornings. About David's plans to build the temple, wasn't he disqualified by counting the fighting men during a time of peace?

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  ปีที่แล้ว

      That was certainly a misstep on David's part, but it was generally understood that David had been a man of war and his son Solomon (from Shalom) would be a ruler of peace, more fitting for building the temple.

      The ethnicity of Chedorlaomer remains a matter of speculation. As far as I know, there are no specific ancient historical records of the ruler outside the Old Testament itself. I may have overstated the point a bit in the presentation.

      Richard Noel Hedditch David was from the tribe of Judah. Are you saying that no other tribes survive today? What about those being trained to act as priests should Israel ever get a third temple? They are supposedly from the tribe of Levi. I think there's evidence that other tribes have survived as well, though no doubt, much mixing with other people groups has occurred.

    Is it Jehu or Jehoram because Jehu wasn't the son of Omri. Ahab was the son of Omri and Jehoram was Ahab's son, therefore the son of Omri as well?

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure of the question. Ahab was the son of Omri. Jehoram (or, Joram) was the son of Ahab. Jehoram was killed in a purge led by Jehu, the commander his army. Jehu then took the throne of Israel.

      ibGib this is the period where the bible is silent. But I am curious because Hosea mentioned that God will avenge the house of Jehu for Jezreel. But I don’t understand because God was the one ordaining it and Jehu was blessed at the end.
      And Amos was prophesying against the house of Hazael.
      Which makes me wonder as well. Why did God ordain Hazael to be King if he’s going to walk against his will? Or was that his will in the first place to fight against Israel?

  • @carmelo1509
    @carmelo1509 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What do you think of the theory that the reason for the Israelite rise and brief period of glory came as a result of the vacuum created by the collapse of the great Middle Eastern civilizations around the year 1,200 BCE? It seems that only Egypt survived that collapse, and only barely. Which may explain why the Jews decided to start their history with a showdown against Egypt.

      You are certainly full of The Holy Ghost, yielding yourself to The Holy Spirit ( our comforter, teacher, our wisdom..) therefore you have a great advantage over Solomon, you have the greatest kind of wisdom “ Epignosis” . James1:5 James 3:13-18; 1Corinthians2:6-16

    By simple logic, Israel thrived because there was a vacuum of threats from outside during the "dark age", not the other way around.
    But I guess religious point of view would say that God caused the vacuum.
    Also the allowance of worshiping in the backyards in Israel was a political move to prevent from worshipers to jave to leave Israel and go to Jerusalem in Jehuda, a somewhat competitive neighbor.

    RE: Building The House- FOR THE NAME OF YAHWEH: (1Chron,22.10 He -Solomon shall build an House for My Name) As in verse :7 "And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house for (Hebrew- YAHWEH Elohim!) Indeed- this whole process was COMMANDED back in (Deut.12.3-) and through tragedy David will 'find'- THE PLACE 1Kgs 24.17- and thus Solomon will build-The House of YAHWEH! But, 'Av Kovish'- its ALL a 'shadow-pic' to Not 'Jesus'- but Yeshua/Yehoshua Ha Messiah as his name is and says = YAHWEH's Salvation!
    As Solomon was 'overcome' with permitting Israel to worship "other gods" (As Eve was seduced!) All of the above transition to total prophetic completion of (2Sam 7.13- Jesus/Yehoshua Begins!)
    The Name of YAHWEH will be glorified and used daily by Everyone (2Sam 6.18-) until about 630BCE Jeremiah/YirmiYAH= YAH/YAHWEH Will Rise!. Then Phariseeic 'movement' will substitute the generic Title of Adonai-LORD!! Indeed, ALL prophets, kings , priests and many common people had variations of YAHWEH in their own name! ie. Elijah Really EliYAH- My Almighty YAH/YAHWEH. Consider- (Mal.4.6 Not Elijah but EliYAH returns before Yehoshua/Jesus' Return as Everyone will Learn The Name of YAHWEH (YirmiYAH 16;18- & Mat/MattitYAH -Gift of YAH/YAHWEH 23.39 "Blesses is he who comes In The Name of YAHWEH- as "written" in Hebrew despite Western substitutions!)
    Today in America and throughout Christian history- many 'Golden calves' have ben substituted, indeed, our history parallels ancient Israel remarkably closely. At time of Messiah Yehoshua- the new converts that used the Name YAHWEH foooor Yehoshua Messiah taught them were persecuted for this in Israel! (Ps.22.22 = Jn.17.12 Yehokanan=YAHWEH's Grace ) This is one reason as the gentiles started to come into Yehoshua Messiah they could 'easily' shed A Hebrew YAHWEH for a Greek- Theo/Theon- Yehoshua to Isous, Esus- J esus and thereby, as in Yereboam's reign New Calves were introduced and today Main Stream Christianity has little to No idea of 1ST. Century Jewish Believers and who even is- YAHWEH- The Creator!!!!!! The next few years will clarify all of this as (Mat.24.6 'signs' ARE NOW upon us all!). HalleluYAH!

    Dude stick to real history not Biblical BS. What are the sources for Biblical stories? Who wrote them? When I was earning my history in the mid-late 90’s we had to cite multiple sources for papers and dissertations. And the Hurrians spoke an Eastern Indo-European language and not a language as “we do” - we wouldn’t be able to understand those people speaking only our modern English!!

    Ur was occupied by the Chaldeans (first descendants of Arpaxshad), while Uruk (Arach) belonged to the Sumerians (Shinar) - Ur of the Chaldeans, from which Abraham came, and they originated in Ararat, near anatolia. Ashur (Assyria) was another distinct Semitic race. The Amorites were a Canaanite race, which conquered the Sumerian kingdom of Babylon. The Hurrian kingdom of Mitanni, despite having a distinct non-Semitic language, descended from the Aramean race, Hul, whose descendants founded Armenia. Ashur was the name of the Semitic Assyrian race, and as usual, the gentiles created a deity, named After their human ancestor.

    The Philistines ( Pelasgians = haplogroup e-v13) were sea peoples who came from an Egyptian race called the Caslukhites, who settled near the Greeks (Javan) in the isles, as Crete, Sicily and Sardinia, therefore shared cultural traits with the Greeks, and were later called Illyrians, but were not the same race as the Japhetic race as the Greeks (Ionians = haplogroups J2a, J2b). Wrong. Jehu's bowing has nothing to do with what you said - it is simply a humble respect for the designated foreign empire that ruled by God's decree, and there is nothing wrong with it - he is not bowing to a pagan God, and isn't trying to escape from the God of Israel.
