Came across your video whilst I was looking at buying the big lake. Glad I've come across it, because its given me a better insight to the boat. So that helped in the decision to buy the boat, plus as you said its British made.
Hi Steve I’ve got big lake. Boat had it 9yrs and it’s still going great mine is original boat so it’s but basic but never let me down I added weed quards to mine Cheers
Nice bit of kit. Love the way you've got the camera mount on the front. Great idea. Shame where I fish we can't use bait boats but then casting range isn't that far. Great info as usual Steve 👍
excellent review Steve just what i was looking for I admire your honesty even down to the slight corrosion on the motors which is pretty understandable especially in inclement weather and condensation and the vaseline tip was a good one, you pretty much sold me as I am looking to upgrade my AT Standard boat which has been pretty solid over the last 10 years and just had a new battery installed by AT but i like the idea that I wont lose the 4 kilo bait hopper and plus i can buy additional batteries and the 2hr run time is awesome thanks again for the review. *thumbs up*
I can back up your comments on the Big Lake Bait Boat and the supplier. We have had ours for just over a year and did two weeks in France fishing at 120-140 yards so lots of use. The issues we had were very minor. I found the moulding on one of the battery lids were not quite flat and it was affecting the hold the magnet had on one end. This was fixed in ten seconds with a screwdriver and just unscrewing the magnet screw half a turn which had the effect of raising it and completely solving the issue. The other issue is again minor, and I have had the same on all of my bait boats, it doesn't track dead straight out of the box so needs regular adjustment over long distances. The supplier has loads of videos online showing you how to build, replace and fix just about everything and the backup is superb. Next time out it will be sorted as it is just a setting change on the handset and the video shows you how to do it. We paid the same as you but have purchased three other sets of batteries. I like to have spare sets in case you cannot charge them at the venue you are using them. You can charge the lipo's with a solar panel and a regulator with a USB connection but take advice from the supplier first. He is always very friendly, very helpful and will recommend what he thinks best. The other thing with him is that the parts are very sensibly priced as well not that we have needed any. They are not the fastest boat but are far from being the slowest boat and at just over £400 including lipo batteries, weed guards and the rig dropper it is a fraction the cost of the competition and it carries a huge amount of bait unlike some of the other big bait boats. Well impressed and couldn't recommend it enough.
So you guys have got yours for just over £400 did you. All them for that price? I want all the same features you have got but it comes up more than that when I do it online. Cheers
Nice review steve and what a nicely made piece of kit it certainly looks every bit as capable as boats many times more expensive at the end of the day its british built and does exactly what it was built for u really cant ask for anymore ive actually got a mate thinking of buying a boat i will certainly recomend one of these cheers bud stay safe
Hi, great review! Took my new one out today for a test run. The trim doesn’t seem to be set right, as it turns on its own when going forward. Any idea how to adjust the trims on the handset? I can’t find any videos on how to do it? Cheers
Hi, i have just got one of these second hand for nothing as the props were not working...i sent it off for repairs and all it needed was a new radio gear replacement so all in all iv'e got a very good boat for the cost of the repair :) I also got him to fit the rig release to it. I've never used a bait boat before so i'm wondering how does the rig release actually work? how do you put your rig on the release etc...sorry if that's a dumb question but i cant seem to find any info on it! Tia
Great video mate. I have also got one of these i brought before lockdown so havent used it yet. Do you know if the boat lets you know when batteries are getting low ? Thanks mate
Hi mate.. just a question I had a problem with the servo on my big lake bait boat and wanted to replace with the new one but I’m cannot decided what kind or get as they have deferent KG on them so I really know what size to get or does it matter if I get any sizes could you help or direct me what to get many thanks
Hi Bob. The size won't affect the operation as such it'll purely come down to whether you have the fitting space should you get a bigger 1. To be on the safe size it might be wise to contact Mark at the big lake bait boat company. Steve
Hi just bought a mk3 . It hasn’t got the rig drop mechanism so does it just go into the hopper from below. Just a bit worried the line could get caught in propellers if you turn at a tight angle as it hasn’t got weed guards on . Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
Hi John Yes the rig sits it the hopper by feeding it in from underneath the boat. I can see why you'd be concerned about line wrap around the propellers but it doesn't seem to happen it seems the rig drops quickly enough to avoid any problems. Tight lines Steve
Thanks Main concern though is if I turn the boat sharply like 90 degrees to get it on the spot would it catch the line I’ve seen another video using the rig release mechanism but it looks a bit messy and could see potential problems with tangles
Hi John. I understand your concern with turning the boat at 90°. Can you not just drop the rig first, you could then turn the boat, if that isn't possible. Drop the rig, reverse then turn the boat. Tight lines pal Steve
Hi mate. These are really good boats, If somebody offers you 1 at that price you need to be wary as there's a fair chance something isn't right with it.

Gotta love how they go from the 90 Amp rated XT90 to the 15 Amp rated Tamiya connector in less than 3 inches, kind of a bodge job there imho

Sorry to comment again what trim setting do you have yours on? Mine doesn’t seem to turn very quick when I turn right but when I turn left it’s fine
Steve Baralloni thanks for reply. I’m pretty sure it’s clear. Just seems the left motor isn’t as strong as the right. Even though both on 40%

I’ve got mine now I’m really happy with it I do have one question though and that’s dose the deeper work ok with these or will it interfere?
Hi how does the rig drop work can you not just place you rig under the bottom of the boat and drop it from the center many thanks Simon
Hi mate, nice video, is that a feature finder on the handset?
Does it save your location or do you have to drive it back out your self to the spot each time ??
