This is one thing about the Chess world at the moment, the top level players and those just below the top level also, seem to be quite accessible to other players and fans.
With interviews like this , the personal streams from various titled players, those banter blitz type things, where anyone can get a chance at the top players.
Coverage of tournament from various websites. I 'm sure there are other things that I've missed.
Its a good time to be following and playing chess at the moment

Magnus doesn't know English that well, and has a hard time expressing himself 100% in English, which is why he uses such phrases. I would not read too much into it. Very happy Magnus is getting back to being the best player in chess history. It's good for chess.

I agree, it was an unnecessary piece of schmoozing. Carlsen is intelligent enough to see through that. It also seems contrived since Magnus may have business interests in chess24 of which Svidler is a director.

Boys, boys Svidler was having just a bit of fun with his obvious loss and Magnus' mini-masterpiece. Magnus clearly didn't mind as he did smile at the antics...though as he doesn't mince words, he was honest: it wouldn't be his style if in Svidler's shoes...they're all basically friends after the battle's over...thought it was great.

DEAN PAULO VIANA OLIVEIRA wait, let me see if I understand you correctly-
You are arguing that a given tournament performance rating is more relevant than playing games over a large timespan of years? So, hypothetically ,someone can have a single flawless tournament going 12-0 with a 3000 performance, and then play terribly the rest of the year...and according to you that would equate to being considered the strongest ever? Bravo. Brilliant argument sir.

Imo its not boring to see him win all these games against super gm's. Its good for chess that Carlsen shows that its still possible to surprise and win against super gm's. Maybe other player will try to play for the win more often now too. Its better than seeing tons of draws when everybody has roughly the same level.

@@ciprianchirilov1039 Anish trolled Magnus couple years ago on twitter (that Carlsen is afraid of challengers in challenger tournament, that Kramnik understands chess better then all and so on) and Magnus responded to Giri that he doesnt afraid of him at all and he (Giri) should win at least one tournament and then other players can consider taking him seriously. So as I understand they are not friends 100%. They just competitors on top tournaments and shake hands during the chess game as we all do in otb chess.

What world you live in? That wasn't the tittle shot, just another tournament round. And afaik, last year Caruana had his chance to win the world tittle, where he failed to win a single game after they had played 15 games in a row. "simple as that"
