I'm always prefer playing Defensive when playing Chess but the Defense I choose must be a counter against the opponent's Gambits.
Lets recall the number of Defense Manuevers :
      1. Sicilian Defense
      2. Pirc Defense
      3. Petrov Defense
      4. French Defense
      5. Dutch Defense
      6. Berlin Defense
      7. King Indian Defense

These defensive positions are only optimal depending on your opponent's oppening move.
You can counter-attack all you want with these because the real fun starts at Midgame.

    • @JSamad
      @JSamad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Magnus would exchange queens then the bishop would be pinned to the rook and it's really hard to defend it considering that the white dark squared bishop is ready to attack it too, and the back rank of black is very weak. Not saying it's 100% winning (because two pawns for a bishop is kinda playable), but there's no reason to risk losing the game for a pawn.

Therefore they know how to play against him. Chess has advanced a lot since Fischer, denying that would be foolish. Chess engines have made players of today much stronger. Bonus position: I think you just capture on f5 ( doesnt matter wether with the knight or the bishop) and if he recaptures with the knight you capture the knight so he has to capture with the bishop and then you play pawn to e6! blocking blacks queen and checking the king with your own queen, the king has to move and you just capture the bishop.

Agadmator : "Hello everyone ! After 1) e2-e4 by Magnus, we have a completely new game".
Magnus (checkmating) : "Sorry about that".
Opponent : "For those of you who could shoot this guy, congratulations. You're an excellent sniper. For those who just want to enjoy the show, spit on your computer screen and shout : Magnus, get out!"
Medo : "Never get any peace here. I get off !"

I love that you've given us a puzzle to solve. #bonus
I would capture with the knight on f5, threatening to capture on e7 forking queen and rook. Black can defend by moving the knight to c6, but in that case White can grab another pawn on g7 and dismantle Black's position at leisure.
Alternatively, if Black takes the knight on f5, then bishop captures. Then, if black recaptures with his own bishop, e6 is a discovered check. The king must move, and the pawn on e6 is now blocking the Black queen's defence of f5. White is spoilt for choice: he can recapture the piece immediately, or make it a sacrifice and capture the pawn on g7, threatening to capture the rook with promotion (in this case Black must surely move his rook to e8; then rook captures on g7 and the dangerous passed pawn is defended). White's rook controls the a-file and Black's king is feeling the draught: either the rook or the White queen will infiltrate the position.

Nice to see fabulous classical chess games as opposed to speed chess. It may be fun to play but for the viewer these classical games can be magnificent. Capablanca, Fischer, Karpov, Carlson etal have and are creating art for the ages. So many times I’m in the middle watching a blitz game , on the edge of my seat speculating on what the next move could be and Wham! he loses on time. Classical chess is true chess and how anyone came up with rapid or blitz to decide a world championship is beyond me. Why the hurry? Kasparov vs Karpov in their first match up was as good as it gets and to stop it at such a critical stage was when the world championship started to go downhill. So, thanks for the coverage of these games. As a viewer I am grateful.

4:42 That appears to have been the blunder that cost him the game (better was the line shown by Antonio). Taking the sacrificed Pawn was also a mistake, but not losing (Kh7 was better it seems). Magnus seems to have made all perfect moves since the Pawn sacrifice up to the point where he could sac the Rook on g6. That’s crazy.

At 8:18, when Magnus stepped back with his lady queen, isn't Rg5 faster than the suggested Rxg6? Pawn in a6 cannot capture the Rook since a mate is waiting in the Corner, and the f5 pawn is now free to capture and give mate in the next moves. Please give me a feedback on this because I can't find a good line for black.

after knight blocks you capture f7 with the pawn and a discovery is on the queen, then you can just requeen
If he retakes with queen instead of knight you can queen trade and then move your rook to the f file / take the 7th rank and advance your pawn
