It's good to see they've upped the fit on this pattern. I have two black Cherry Bone and one Cinnamon Bone Stag/Damascus. All three had poor centering. One was so bat the blade edge would catch the liner on closing. I also watched another video on the carbon Cinnamon and am becoming hopeful as this is my favorite pattern. Until seeing these two videos I had given up on RR copperhead. Looks like I'll be giving them another try.
I think I like the pop of color on the liner, except that it might really exaggerate the look of the minor gapping. Still, it is minor as you say, at least for knives in this price range. Nice looking pattern. Thanks for showing us this one, as always.
I just got this knife too. It’s really beautiful. It’s basically perfect. Blades are centered perfect, the shield is flat and clean, no gaudy blade etch that looks like a three year old designed it lol. The red underliners look good against the black. Not that weight matters to me on a tiny knife, but it’s so light. I prefer bone knives, but this is cool. This is a good one. I like copperheads. They might be my favorite now. I like that shield.
Thanks for the view DD. Underliners don't bother me at all with micarta, it's when they use it with bone and other natural materials I don't like as much.
Nice! It looks like there are a bunch of new Rough Ryder knives coming out. I want to get the new large stockman in staglon that they are showing on SMKW. I know a lot of people don't care for staglon but I really like it.
The F&F looks very nice, as is the case with most of their knives. If it weren't for that big, ugly "R" on the bolster, I'd order one. Good lord, they're even putting it on BOTH SIDES of some of their knives! Until it's gone, I've sworn off buying any more RR knives. Another great review.
Rectal thermometer lol. That’s a good looking copperhead. The brown jigged bone copperhead I have looks identical as far as fit and finish. RR stepped up their game with these that’s for sure

After watching your video I got this same RR highland copperhead my first copperhead and I have to say it's nice bigger knife than what I pictured in my mind it's not a big knife but I thought it was smaller I like it came the mail with the RR highland 2 lockback I have the first highland lockback I told you that so I have 3 of in the highland series all nice looking knives thanks again for the video keep um coming!
I've always liked the copperhead pattern, particularly because the way the bolster hides the sometimes obtrusive tang edges. In my opinion, it would be almost the perfect EDC for the everyday guy if they'd change the blade layout. Keep the traditional clip point blade and replace the Turkish clip blade with either a substantial pen blade or a Wharncliffe. I broke down and bought the RR Cinnamon Bone Stag copperhead in spite of the R on it. I was completely blown away at the quality, which I assume is along the same line as your Highland version. I welcome a comparison to any knife, from any maker in any country, as long as we're comparing apples to apples. I don't know how they do it. Maybe CNC production?
They are quite capable. Its' really a question of keeping the QC where it needs to be, if they slack it shows. I've had both real winners and some duds from RR recently so it the quality can swing wildly. The Copperhead is a solid pattern, I like a Barlow for the blade configuration you mention.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I have a newer US Classic copperhead with the blade configuration mentioned. It suits my personal daily needs better than the Turkish clip, but that's just my personal taste. Others vary. The QC on my RR cinnamon stag barlow is quite good, also.
Can remember when the lockback started being sold on Heinnies, it's a good looking knife, not surprised they've added to the series. Id prefer no R on the bolsters but if it's the right knife then it is what it is. They have the non R tooling in a more modern style, I have a banana shaped carbon Trapper with plain pinched bolsters in the modern style that is only about a year old (probably a little older for American buyers) so it can be done.
Nice looking knife I quite like the underline their blue looks good as well, big R still a turn off for me, love the Copperhead pattern hope they will make a single blade sometime.

One of the other TH-cam reviewers I heard say recently that the rough ryder knives with the "R" bolsters might be raising in value when they finally start phasing them out which looks like they're already doing. Is there any truth to that rumor thrifty?
I won't pretend to know how the market will react to the "R" going away, but for me personally I've been ready for the change for quite some time. I certainly won't be spending extra to obtain knives with the "R" on them. Thanks for the inquiry nesman.
The coloured underliner is something RR should use sparingly. Some French knife makers include this by request and indeed it can look very effective.........but please not all the time.

I very much agree, RR has a tendency to overuse features. A problem I suppose inherent with this form of production assembly.
