Good looking knife. As I'm already a big Rough Rider fan I'm sure this will end up in my collection.

It is a good one. It feels really good in the hand, better than most 5 inch lock backs, in my opinion.

I've got a knife slip with a clip on it that will handle that just perfect for pocket carry. That's what I prefer for larger knives as an alternative to having a belt sheath getting in the way of my phone holster. I had a Buck 110 that stayed nearly untouched for 10 years before I got a slip for it because it was so heavy. Now I can carry it in my pocket without it being so cumbersome.

Got the RR lockback with the spear point blade, the handle is almost the same as this but wood scales and paisley bolsters. Did all the worst jobs with it, digging up tree roots, digging out rusty screws from manky pallets ect. Affected it not a jot. Still works fine, sharpens up nicely. If your blade was on the market at the time I'd have chosen that one though, it's a nice step up on mine.

RR knives are really great. I have plenty more expensive knives, but generally it's the RRers i use. Just a note on the sheath, abit of duct or electricians tape on the back of the popper is enough to stop any damage. Cheers, nice review

Thanks for the tip on the sheath. I too have more expensive knives but so often its the Rough Rider that gets the call of duty and get the job done. Thanks for watching and for your input.

I have purchased 2 of these knives I liked them so muck and as per most RR knives they are a fantastic value. Only one problem is both of them came with a fair amount of BLADE ROCK lateral movement and I don't know about you folks but that kind of ruins thing for me, irregardless I kept them because for $15 they are to inexpensive to return. The rest of the knife from the fit and finish to the blade is beautiful 5/28/19

I think this was probably the best knife in the Highland series. It feels good and is a good in between size -- right between the Buck 110 and Buck 112. Glad you like it!

The Buck 110 blade will move back and forth when closed but locked up solid when open! 😊

IMHO this is the best deal on a fantastic knife that RR has to offer, I just checked Amazon and they want $52.23 and you could easily paste some duct tape over the hardware on the inside of the sheath, no big deal but not well thought out.

      $18.82 on ebay.

That is a great looking knife! Love the color accents. Not a huge fan of lockbacks but I do have some including the legendary Buck 110. And as a note even the 110 has some blade wiggle in the closed position.
Love the design of the front bolster, a nice touch there.
I like the snap but when you hunt that just needs to catch on a branch and whoops there goes the knife.
Also what price point is this one at? Would have liked a closer look at the whole series. That Bowie looked interesting.

      ramblers69, thanks.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. Cutting up bottles, cardboard, wood etc. for going on two weeks and still able to cut paper with ease. Somehow that half inch is the difference between needing to belt carry or just drop it in a pocket. That’s a big deal for a city boy.

No closed blade wobble on any of my Buck 110’s or 112’s. Buck invented this style of knife and they know how to properly manufacture them. It is a rare Buck who’s blade wobbles when closed. Take care.

A It's Nice Knife, Very Detailed In Design , But I Feel That To Be The Companion To Hiland Bowie Is A Bit Small . The Rough Rider Collection That I'm Liking Now Is The Hunter Series All Full Tang.

I think the Highland LB is basically a low cost alternative to a Buck 110. RR does make some great fixed blades.

You're might catch some flak from Buck fans over that comment. But I'd have to agree. The handle feels better than a Buck 110 and the blade isn't that much shorter. Folks will argue all day over 440A vs.Bucks 420HC but to me they are too similar to argue which is better. And that brings us to the price and to me, the Buck 110 in 420HC is just way too over-priced even for a USA made knife. So I'm with you. Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate the feedback!

@@KnifeChatswithTobias The nice guy at SMKW sold me on this. He said, go check out the Buck and I think you'll agree, this knife is better and the Buck is overpriced. I'm glad he suggested it.
