it's a normal first attack hose. We get the water running within 20 to 30 seconds, and if we then need more water than we carry on board, then we set up the full size hose
Well done chaps, BA preferable but not really required if outside in clear air. Mike donelly, hose reel is always default position on job like this WHILST setting in a line. Cant take the time to wait etc. Good attendance time, wont be any longer as Boris has closed our stations : ( Regards all.
This is Lower Thames St, within the City of London's prosperous financial district, only a few minutes walk front The Tower of London. The foreign people being commented on are not locals, they are tourists and stepped off the stationary tourist coach seen, which is unable to move past the burning car.
They would have worn BA but they would rather just put the damn thing out. Besides, wind was blowing down the road and car was next to building, little risk of smoke inhalation
Most fire services in Europe and Australia use the high pressure reel on car fires, no point bowling out 2 lengths of 38mm if it can be knocked down with the reels. I agree on the BA point though, with the risk of cancer being as high as it is in firefighters, i'd rather wear BA to a nothing job, then not wear it at a going job.
Unsure. In NI not all tenders have foam capability, they would only have it from a fire extinguisher or an actual foam tender. Sometimes its not 100% needed, other times for large scale fueling fires (such as at airports) it is
If there was a Petrol or Oil leak then we'd use foam, as water would just spread the fuel everywhere. Most of what is burning here is just material from the car (paint, rubber, plastic and fabrics.) In this case using only water would be adequate. Foam takes a little delay in setting up, and then the environmental agency has to be notified. Plus water is free, whereas foam concentrate costs money. It's much easier and less time consuming to douse it with water rather than mess about with foam; Although in some cases, it's necessary.
Bobby Mulqueen In that case you could use a CO2 extinguisher in combination with the line, saves the trouble and cheaper than foam since CO2 extinguishers are everywhere.
I suppose you could, but extinguishers aren't designed for fighting fires in that sense. It's more of a means of protection, whilst you escape a fire, or in the very early stages of preventing a fire. If there is nobody in the car, and you can use water from a safe distance, then that's the sensible option. You don't know what's inside the car, it could have cylinders in the boot, or other hazards. Why risk getting up close with an extinguisher when it's more effective and safer to wash it down the road? It also saves you having to restock extinguishers. If you're out on a job and you use unnessessary equipment, then you get a second shout where you need that specific gear, then you're no good to anybody. It's down to the assessment you make at the scene. To me, having one of your crew risk his life over a car that's already lost is bad leadership.
various reasons foam very expensive doesn't remove heat causes an environmental hazard longer make-down doesnt be a tidy job foam is used for large truck bus etc on fire though
Yeah good point! Never mind the lack of heat protection, the serious danger of explosion, lack on any fire fighting equipment (that would have to be one heck of a big blanket btw) or an EX-tinguisher. And everything else that's wrong with that idea.
graham yogibear Feel free to decline assistance and die if your going to go all BNP/BF/UKIP on the nationality of Emergency workers (or any others to that matter) Please explain why it is a negative thing, you do not even know if these people are second/third gen etc?
All my life living in London my experience with the London fire brigade, Ive never seen them wear BA unless its a building fire, Car fire's and bin etc, They just fight the fire like you seen in the video..
Well i don't know the LFB like you, but here in the Cheshire fire and rescue service we wear our BA at car fires because of the tocix fumes, so i presumed the LFB would be the same
That building is completely brick work apart from the window frames , but its Highly unlikely it would catch, Plus all my life living in London, and the rare occasions I've seen a car fire, I've never seen a firefighter put on BA to put a car fire out.. Only time they do is when its building fire
That ladies and gents is why Mercedes owners do not use their indicators. BMW owners also think that their cars are going to spontaneously combust if they use those abhorrent stalks that protrude from the steering column.
Exactly my thoughts as soon as he started tackling the fire, then he jumped back when the flames came towards him. I would have thought BA sets where a must for vehicle fires due to the fumes danger etc....
classic underpowered reel line. take the time and use an actual hose, keep your self safe from a flash from a gas tank and make a quicker knock down. Stay safe brothers
Sorry no excuse not wearing BA, only takes a minuet to get it on and under air, what if the building had become involved and someone was trapped. Not good place to park the appliance either, what if a back tyre exploded and threw petrol into the appliance, not much use if it's on fire. Pre planning required on the OIC's part.
it's a normal first attack hose. We get the water running within 20 to 30 seconds, and if we then need more water than we carry on board, then we set up the full size hose
I love the British. Every car just stops and waits for the fire to be put out.
James Saunders , your right, I think anywhere else, they try to squeeze by.
It's called safety.

Is there a big difference if it is a C class or a E class when the car is on fire ?
Why is the camera pointed at uk immigration at the end ?
Maybe he could not find the car fire
Our men + women in our fire service r the best in the world im proud ov them :-)

Hi, can we share your video on our Facebook page, please? With credit to your channel?
This Mercedes is a e not a c
How many U.S. gallons do these trucks typically hold?
360 US liquid gallons
They would have worn BA but they would rather just put the damn thing out. Besides, wind was blowing down the road and car was next to building, little risk of smoke inhalation
Couldn't you see the gridlocked traffic on the other side when the camera pans around to see the fire engine approaching?
Already arrived?Turn off the siren.
She was the queen of people's hearts.

wow they stand so close when putting the fire out?
Slight irony in a Mercedes fire engine turning up...
How come they don't use foam on a fuel fire?

various reasons
foam very expensive
doesn't remove heat
causes an environmental hazard
longer make-down
doesnt be a tidy job
foam is used for large truck bus etc on fire though
why did the fire engine come the wrong way down the road?
You are very stupid. Because the lanes were blocked why do you think?
The fire engine had to approach on the wrong side of the road because the right side was blocked for its whole width by stationary vehicles.
Yeah good point! Never mind the lack of heat protection, the serious danger of explosion, lack on any fire fighting equipment (that would have to be one heck of a big blanket btw) or an EX-tinguisher. And everything else that's wrong with that idea.
What size are those attack lines?
+Ryan OhKay I know it's an old post. but the hosereels are 38 mm bore.
+freeganjustin thank you
They are high pressure hose reels, they would either be 19mm or 25 mm. These look like 19mm
Was this London, everyone but fire crew look foreign?
More than 50% of the London population are not indigenous to the country.
fdama more like %80
tht y this country in a nloody mes today to many foreigners
graham yogibear Feel free to decline assistance and die if your going to go all BNP/BF/UKIP on the nationality of Emergency workers (or any others to that matter) Please explain why it is a negative thing, you do not even know if these people are second/third gen etc?
now u know why it goes dark earlier in London all the blacks
graham yogibear racist runt. Feel free to get the f..k out of this Country if it bothers you.

GORGI's World natural reflexes...
Why no b.a.??
Driver loves his siren! :)
Why at the end do you film the lady wearing black suit ?
All my life living in London my experience with the London fire brigade, Ive never seen them wear BA unless its a building fire, Car fire's and bin etc, They just fight the fire like you seen in the video..
can i copy uer video im making a fire man sam them but in real life i want to put this in
I don't know Josh, why did the chicken cross the road?
he needs a ticket stopping on a red route lol
Yeah he was unloading water too. Not allowed to unload on a red route!
Prob got one in the post a week later
Well i don't know the LFB like you, but here in the Cheshire fire and rescue service we wear our BA at car fires because of the tocix fumes, so i presumed the LFB would be the same
Great catch! No sign of police?
5:00 Think the people had common sense to stop anyway :)
Pottyscotty Studios UK True but unusual for them not to show up at a scene like this.
It's actually an E220 😂
I thought the same
+Bennyboy1 It Is actually an E220 lol they got it wrong
+tzrmike Calm down
+Kalim Ali (TKReviews) c classes arnt that posh or big, they are the smaller ones and Yh I wasn't disagreeing with what you said I was agreeing
+Bennyboy1 I know u were agreeing some other person just got in the middle
That building is completely brick work apart from the window frames , but its Highly unlikely it would catch, Plus all my life living in London, and the rare occasions I've seen a car fire, I've never seen a firefighter put on BA to put a car fire out.. Only time they do is when its building fire
nice SCBAs you got there in the truck
That ladies and gents is why Mercedes owners do not use their indicators. BMW owners also think that their cars are going to spontaneously combust if they use those abhorrent stalks that protrude from the steering column.
Fuel leak or arsonist
this mercedes still running in our country romania, is clean and new.
it is (was) a mercedes E not a C
To much traffic blocking it from getting to the scene so they went down the opposite way to save time and so it dose not spread.
Thats a Mercedes E class - not C
at least plants got watered b hind fire
maybe that's true and probably protocol, But as I said I've seen the fire brigade out to a few fires and only seen them put a car out without BA...
we always wear b/a sets to all car lorry bus fires etc....
Thats an E-Class
why no ba sets worn ????
Exactly my thoughts as soon as he started tackling the fire, then he jumped back when the flames came towards him. I would have thought BA sets where a must for vehicle fires due to the fumes danger etc....
They take them off just before they get there to save time. It's a bit obvious.
@@TomTheGamer913 should be wearing BA, nasty stuff in the gasses that come off vehicle fires.
I bet a traffic warden turned up straight after and gave it a parking ticket - just to add insult to injury !
he could havemoved it up a bit, a few more meters and the speed camera could have enjoyed it too......
Fire station about 150 yards down the road :D
malonefan Would that be Dowgate?
could have got it closer to speed camera
Cool video. What's with filming the women at the end lol
Looks like arson,to me,perhaps wifey has found out about the bit on the council estate.
the streets look so quoit expecualy cince itwas ruch hour
Well done lads /girls.
Anyone fancy a ice cold BEER!!!
Fire Station only down the road
Oh MAN, that's a lot of money going up in smoke!
I suppose all the stationary cars on red double lines will be fined by Sadik khan 😅😅😅
Lick of paint and a couple of new tyres and away you go again.
think there was a car on fire...
This is a Mercedes E Class...
Looks like the police closed the road
At least the guy filming is speaking English.
thy should have b/a on arrival.......
3:41 very rare
No SCBA???!!!
Not a c220 but cool
of course it was LFB
Well done. It's London.
classic underpowered reel line. take the time and use an actual hose, keep your self safe from a flash from a gas tank and make a quicker knock down. Stay safe brothers
It is a high pressure hose reel. They are used at around 30bar pressure. (435psi)
Daniel
they can only record, but use a fire extinguisher,no one thought, the era of cell phones
That's what you get for parking on a cycle lane - Haha
Your supposed to have BA on lads because of the toxic fumes.
Those modern helmets are ugly
I mean freaky
nice girl at the end bit!...x
E class*
OUCH.....i take it the car belonged to the fat guy in the stripey tshirt loitering by the central fence..
Lazy... BA 101%of the time.
You don't need to wear the BA all the time.
in outside air, BA is not required
Leave British Airways out of it!
Sorry no excuse not wearing BA, only takes a minuet to get it on and under air, what if the building had become involved and someone was trapped. LOL
lol
Put a f....... BA set on guys
This's not c class it's E class
