    What makes this really good footage is, its difficult to keep up with stuff constantly arriving on the bell from different angles AND keep the camera reasonably straight. Well done mate.

    • @ce9934
      @ce9934 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're fire officers that command the scene. There's no law against showing plates from any service, it's just done out of courtesy because those fire officers also use the cars for personal trips

      +Timo van der Kooij The unmarked cars are fire officers, but the police have to stop traffic and pedestrians from entering the scene. Bare in mind this is London, they have a lot of police around.

    Great video! Not complaining at the LFB or anything, but why did they literally send about 6 or 7 incident commander/fire safety officers to the fire? I know it was a big fire, but what would all of them need to do? From a civilian view, wouldn't only having 2 or 3 there be better for a more straight forward command system?... Some nice action from the Met also.

    • @123owenboy
      @123owenboy 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      King Tanyard In somewhere like london, response times can easily be delayed by traffic; so they tend to mobilize more than they need to make sure that atleast someone gets there quickly. You must remember that to start with Control would only have limited information, and as a controller you're always taught to assume the worst. At an incident like that, a controller would assume:
      1 Officer commanding
      2 Officer 2nd in Command
      3 Safety Officer
      4 Rescue Control Officer (Possibly)
      5 HAZMAT Officer (Possibly)
      6 Command Support Officer - Communication
      7 Command Support Officer - BA Entry Control
      8 Water Supply Officer
      etc, etc; obviously, I'm exaggerating the number of commanders required, something with that many officers would be a Gold Level incident, but obviously with little information, assuming the worst, and the likelihood of some getting delayed, its no surprise they sent so many officers, and what else would they be doing, pushing pens around a desk :')
      Hope this helped :)

      No, blocking off the roundabout would have created massive jams behind the blockade- which is the only way for the emergency vehicles to gain access to the site in the first place.

    Some great video there. I guess a case of being at the right place at the right time, eh? I've got a couple of questions (I'm in Australia, so not conversant with UK policies). Firstly, why the blurring of number plates? Secondly, judging by some of the comments already posted, some staff of London Fire respond in their own privately owned vehicles, is that correct? This concept is so alien compared to Australia. Here if staff are on call (like an incident commander), then they take home a vehicle supplied by the service. Doesn't London Fire provide fleet vehicles to senior staff? Imagine the ridicule towards somebody turning up with red and blue strobes at an incident, baby booster seat in the back, and a collection of "My family" stick figure pictures plastered on the back window, along with a "Firies find 'em hot and leave 'em wet" bumper sticker! How does this using your own car idea work? Do they get an allowance of x$ per Km (or xGBP per mile-sorry I don't have a British Pound key on my keyboard!), or is their car salary sacrificed?

      Don Coleman the number plates of the cars are blurred due to the fact that they are personal cars that belong to firemen when off duty and they need to respond, they have a fast means of responding. And also if they're police they are probably inspectors and still will be personal vehicles so for privacy reasons they're blurred

      Don Coleman and to respond to the rest, they must make their car suitable for responding and they are the only ones that travel in them so they don't need to be first responder spec. And I'm not sure, I think the government pays for any mileage that was done whilst responding to an emergency, I know the lights, siren and in car gadgets will be supplied.

      @@mistaflippyiv4114 maybe personal cars but you can't get any information from also don't they belong in the public domain.

    So Sir Bernard (of the Met) likes to operate by stealth? Why not send more blue and yellows there than license plates that need to be covered up in vids. Weird.
