  • From a surprise start against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 to winning Offensive Rookie of Year, Chargers QB Justin Herbert's first season in the NFL was nothing short of storybook. Now with a new head coach in Brandon Staley and a new offensive coordinator in Joe Lombardi, the question is how the Los Angeles Chargers will build off Justin's success in 2020 and carry that into 2021.
Get an all-access look at Justin Herbert's preparations for year 2: behind the scenes at an NFL promo shoot, a peek inside the huddle during the Chargers' 2021 training camp and, of course, the story behind his famous victory brisket.

I wore my Chargers jersey to my girlfriend's house to watch them play the Dolphins in the playoffs, the year we went to the SB....and her dad was a die hard Dolphins fan. I watched Rivers play in the AFC title game with a torn ACL while deployed in Afghanistan. Agonized with LT as he sat on the bench during the playoffs. Merriman came and went, VJAX came and went, Sproles lit things up and then he went. I love this team and have for a long time, but it feels different now. Remembering Week 2, 2020 just brings chills up my spine. Watching Justin Herbert trot onto the field for the first time was shocking and he really stole the show. It honestly was emotional, very emotional... I could not sit down (and still can't when the Herbert is playing).
Chargers fans were still a little numb from Philip Rivers moving onto the Colts, but Herbert gave a whole different (and new) type of hype of being a Chargers fan. Then every week after that, Herbert (and us Chargers fans) just gained a massive & mesmerizing momentum of fandom.

    • @MYLEFTFINGER
      @MYLEFTFINGER 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm so glad rivers finally left not for the chargers but for him. For the last 3 years I've wanted him to leave so he could get what we couldn't give him at that time. Which is success. I hate that he only got 1 year with colts before leaving the game. As for my boy Herbert? He made this team look completely different and the thought that he's regarded with the same respect (if not more) as Dan Fouts drew Brees and Phillip rivers is beyond anything this fan base could've ever expected. What he did his rookie season is quite literally historical for the NFL and he plays for us with mahomes in the division. Like what...

I grew up in Virginia and loved Dan Fouts and the Chargers. Moved to Oregon when both Oregon gteams were *terrible*! I picked the Ducks because I hated orange and Green was my favorite color. Hung with them since and became a renewed Chargers fan when they drafted Justin.
Again, eerily enough, Justin became starter at Oregon a few games into his freshman year because of injury and never looked back. (Marcus Arroyo, a terrible OC, failed to use him appropriately (thank god he failed up to become UNLV HC)).

Bro I can’t help but smile for our future and this season. I mean with Phil I feel like I knew his and the teams limits with HOPES of a Super Bowl ring. I’m confident this kid is gonna get us a ring and frankly other than that I don’t know his or the teams ceiling because like Keenan said of Herbert it applies to this team. “There is no ceiling”

Every new season brings hope to every team. Even the lousiest ones that deep down inside know they won't be very good, even they will have slight hope, knowing every team starts 0-0. For once, I don't get that feeling with this team, these Chargers. As a legitimate fan since 1981 through thick and thin, ( mostly thin ) ups and downs of this organization I can truly say that this season just feels a little bit different. Sure, every off season brings optimism as you'll read "fluff" pieces by reporters about the team or certain players to keep your interest BUT the future is so bright in Bolt Country and some of us old ones do recognize the difference. Justin Herbert is just a breath of fresh air with out of this world talent, Super Bowl talent. Coach Brandon Staley absolutely checks all of the boxes with his passion and love for coaching. Those young Men care, those young guys "WANT IT!" I won't ride off the tracks and pretend I know how the season will unravel or what our record will be in the end. All I know is that I'm once again excited for what the future holds. I've only felt we've had a legitimate chance of winning it all a couple of times in 40 years of fandom and I can now add a third with this current team, and coaches. Let's go CHARGERS! One game at a time, let's take care of Washington first and move towards our destiny eventually shocking the World!

The Chargers name and logo was created and originated in Los Angeles with a USC L.A.Memorial Coliseum historical connection and
Tommy Walker aka”Tommy Trojan”and then owner Barron Hilton.
The Chargers name originated from the USC football games and Tommy Walker aka (Tommy Trojan) famous historical Charge chant he created
    “Da Dah Dah Da“ Charge!
“Da Dah Dah Da Trojans Warriors Charge!
Tommy Walker then musician /team kicker helped inspire then owner Barron Hilton “R.I.P.” to name the Chargers football team from the famous Charge chant he created as a USC musician band member /team kicker.
When Barron Hilton attended the USC football games the previous years as a football fan at the L.A.Coliseum he would hear the Tommy Walker Charge chant.
When Tommy Walker would run out to the football field to attempt the extra point kicks as the team kicker the USC team music band would play Tommy’s Charge chant he created as the team musician and the football fans that attended the games would yell out his Charge chant
“Da Dah Dah Dah Da” Charge!
“Da Dah Dah Da “Trojan Warriors Charge!
to motivate him to score the extra point kicks.
So that’s where Barron Hilton got inspired and got the idea to name the Los Angeles Chargers football team.
The proof is in the Chargers 1960 original shield logo with the horse charging into battle.
The Charger is a horse charging into battle.
very similar to the USC Trojan Warrior with shield and sword and horse mascot charging on to the field to battle.
Hence the horse in the Chargers 1960 original shield logo.
The lightning bolt idea came from Barron Hilton liking the Air Force College football team lightning bolt logo as a College football fan.
Till this day that famous Charge chant is heard at the game’s and through out many other sporting game events.
The Los Angeles Chargers r the true original L.A. born team now back playing in the original birthplace and not too many team’s can claim that fact.
Rams were born in Cleveland 1936 and
Raiders were born in Oakland 1960
And that’s a fact these other teams can’t ever claim.
And also the Chargers r the true Southern California NFL team because they have never left Southern California unlike
    the Cleveland/ST.Louis Rams and
    the Oakland/Las Vegas Nevada Raiders.
Los Angeles Chargers r born in L.A. in 1960 and played their first season ever in Chargers history at the L.A.memorial Coliseum finishing the season with a 10-4 record.
    Let’s Go Los Angeles Chargers!
The true original L.A. born team now back playing in the original birthplace L.A.
Da Da Dah Dah Da Charge!!! ⚡️🐴 🏈…..
