  • I conclude the process of trying to dismantle the engine to be able to fit a kick start to my engine that didn't have one as standard. Never done this before so expect learning opportunities on the way !!

      Thanks Jim Bo, first time I've time been inside the case, but it didn't seem as scary as I expected. (Famous last words!)

    This is better than corrie mate. Hopefully , cos you deserve it , you'll get more subs. I prefer the real time delivery, I like the real time vocals, the questions, the answers. Its just the so easy to follow. Brilliant job. Just bought a CM125 1986 and got it started, only to see blue smoke and fouled plugs. I've only worked on singles before. I warn you now, I'm going to use this as my manual .

      Cheers Pete, just realised I might not have ensured the gear selector forks were aligned, 🤞🏻

    I should add I started at part one. Other plus points for me about this playlist. No horrible tedious frenetic and loud music. Explaining your thought processes as you are, not trying to impress nor patronise. Without the whistles and bells I suppose the U tube AI hasn't been promoting you. I came across your channel by chance scrolling through all the others. If its loud and proud I'm done after a couple of mins. Sponsors and U tube take note, this guy has more in common with the average amateur mech than all those other shiny vlogs.

      Thanks Mate, I appreciate your feedback. I am just sharing what I am doing in my garage with no specialised kit nor knowledge. Good luck with your CM125, that should be fun. Ryan

    I don't want to worry you, but I would try the gear selection as you have to align the gears with the selector forks. Great Content.

      Hi Stefan, that's a damm good point.. I'll check that before I go much further. It seemed to slot back together fine, but I didn't check that. Fingers crossed I've got lucky. Ryan

    Ryan, don’t know when you did this bid but when you put the bottom case back on the gear cluster should have gone in the top case first and the small bearing should locate in a dowel in the top half, yours wasn’t lined up and therefore the cases will not be clamped properly.

    Hi, Just a point about the cross head screws, these are to Japanese Industries Standard (JIS) They are subtly different to Phillips and Posidrive heads. You might find Phillips etc type screwdrivers may cam out and cause damage to the screw heads. JIS screwdrivers are available via tool suppliers

    • @RyansGarageUK
      @RyansGarageUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris, I ordered a set of JIS screwdrivers directly upon your suggestion.

    Hi ryan! This engine has 5 or 6 gears? I read somewhere that is difficult to mount the kickstarter on 6th geared

    • @RyansGarageUK
      @RyansGarageUK  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, i am fairly certain this was a 6 speed, but ive not ridden it yet so not 100% sure. I know i have changed the side cover so looking at that would not be an accurate check.

    • @dermerlo
      @dermerlo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RyansGarageUK please if you remember let me know. I read contrastant opinion about this, someone says it’s rattling when you run the engine. The kickstarter pinion needs to be smaller because of the countershaft (where the first gear is located) that it’s 2 mm thicker than the 5th geared one. This happens in America, don’t know in europe. I hope it not, i’m going to do the same work on my bike too.

    Horizontally split engine cases... the main reason why Japanese motorcycles leaked less oil than British (vertically split) engines!
    I am not a fan of silicon sealant though, much prefer Stag Wellseal.

    • @RyansGarageUK
      @RyansGarageUK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I'm hopeful it won't leak, but time will tell.
