[FR] Avec ce volume 4 d’une intégrale dont l’ensemble des commentateurs ont souligné l’ingéniosité (ex. Gramophone, juillet 2020), Benjamin Alard poursuit l’exploration de la période de Weimar, dite “de la première maîtrise”. Après "À la française", tournons-nous vers l’Italie où règne le concerto de Vivaldi à Venise. Le jeune Bach s’y crée un merveilleux espace de liberté entre le transcripteur et l’improvisateur. Car “si la transcription est affaire de liberté, elle relève également d’un puissant imaginaire : chaque pièce présente dans cet enregistrement nous transporte dans un univers vénitien qui fascinait Bach autant qu’il l’inspirait”, comme le démontre l’interprète sur trois instruments exceptionnels.
[EN] With this volume 4 in a complete recording of Bach’s keyboard works whose ingenuity has been underlined by every reviewer (e.g. Gramophone, July 2020), Benjamin Alard continues to explore the Weimar period, known as that of his ‘early mastery’. After 'À la française', we turn to Italy, where the Vivaldian concerto reigned in Venice. The young Bach created here a wonderful space of freedom between the transcriber and the improviser. For ‘if transcription is a matter of freedom, it is also a matter of powerful imagination: each piece on this recording transports us into a Venetian universe that fascinated Bach as much as it inspired him’, as Benjamin Alard demonstrates on three exceptional instruments.

Gramophone, Juli 2020), wendet sich Benjamin Alard erneut Bachs erster Meisterschaft in dessen Weimarer Zeit zu. Nach „Auf französische Art“ erfolgt nun der Wechsel nach Italien, wo Vivaldis Konzert in Venedig führend ist. Der junge Bach schafft sich hier einen wunderbaren Freiraum zwischen Transkription und Improvisation. „Die Bearbeitung hat mit Freiheit zu tun, sie untersteht auch der schöpferischen Fantasie: Jedes Stück dieser Aufnahme versetzt uns in die Welt von Venedig, die Bach faszinierte und inspirierte“ und die der Interpret auf drei außergewöhnlichen Instrumenten hörbar macht.
