    Love this format of bringing in an expert and hearing your contributions and thoughts on the subject! Would like to see more of this stuff for the other various liquors too!

    For tequila, blanco can be rested or aged for up to two months and will still be considered blanco. Reposado is aged from 2 months to 12 months. Anejo from 1 to 3 years, extra anejo from 3 years +.

    The Fortaleza is just wonderful. It has become rather hard to find here in California, especially the Reposado and Anejo. I make loads of cocktails with Tequila, so many great dinks besides the Margarita. Nice video!

    Great video!! I might not have the amazing bottles you had there, but now I appreciate much more the craftmanship and effort that goes into making them. I'll sure be on the lookout for one of those extra special bottles!

    Great episode and also very insightful. It makes me want to try mezcal which I hardly admit I've never head.

    Fortaleza makes awesome tequila. Their Anejo is prolly my fave expression of that genre. El Tesoro is another label worth checking out :}

      I'm in Arizona, so I can't even start with all the Tequilas that are available just at Walmart or Safeway, let alone specialty liquor stores.
      I realize how lucky I am when I'm visiting friends in other states, especially those poor souls who live where state-run liquor stores are the only option.

      I'd love to try the añejo, fortaleza's reposado is fantastic stuff... But at £90-100 a bottle here in the UK it's a bit steep (the reposado can be found as low as £65).

    In a recent visit to Puerto Vallarta, I had a complimentary drink served in a small brandy glass and they called it “tequila creme”. It was golden in color and clear (looked like bourbon). The tequila creme I find advertised does not look like what I had. Any guess as to what I had and who makes/ sells it?

    Hey Cara, 2 sort of tangentially related questions.
    1) My favorite alcoholic beverage is a dark porter or stout with coffee or chocolate notes. Would you be able to recommend a liquor with a similar flavor profile? I do like whiskey and rum.
    2) What rum would you recommend for a rum old fashioned?
    Thanks!

      Just a thought on the first one, have you tried chocolate bitters at all? That would be a good way to add dark chocolate notes to spirits you already own.
      As far as rum old fashioneds, I find rum from Guyana works well for a typical OF build (bitters, a little maple/demerara syrup and orange peel), jamaican rum works much better in Greg from HTD's adapted recipe (swap the orange peel for 2-3 thin slices of lime muddled in the glass).

      Hi pal! Brandy could definitely be up your alley, lots of rich fruit and woody spice/chocolate notes. Diplomatico rum, if you haven’t tried it yet, basically tastes like melted chocolate! So I think you’d like an old fashioned with that too 😊 and yes, as suggested - try adding chocolate bitters in your old fashioned.
