Thank you for the help. As a first time grower I’m happy you got right to the subject and didn’t drag me along for the whole video, which I did watch. Thanks again.
I used to do that out in the field back in the 80's. As soon as you see those male pre flowers yeet that plant out of the ground. The leaves of the male plant do contain a small amount of THC. Just dry the leaves and smoke them. That will give you something to smoke and a nice little buzz while waiting on the females to be ready for harvest.
I've been through to harvests with your videos one was very successful the first one wasn't too good but watching your videos and give me an incredible amount of information I'm still referring to your videos and thank you
@@DeBaccoUniversity Your video doesn't take into account Hermaphrodite plants which are not at all uncommon. Mostly they are plants that appear to be female for the 2 or 3 weeks of flowering and then they start to grow male pollen sacks. Some times it is just a few and other times its too many and the plant has to be destroyed to prevent the other females going into seed production. Maybe you could make anther video on that subject? I assure you that is is quite common when growing from seeds.
A plant can be showing its sex in one small hardly visible place and not be noticed. Plant shape can be a clue. Males are taller with more space between the sets of branches. My grandpa grew outdoors here in oregon and he would put a cardboard tube with one end taped shut to block light on a lower branch that wouldn't produce much. That branch goes into a flower cycle revealing the sex. He collected seeds from all kinds of people, from all kinds of places, with all kinds of tall tales about reefer and grew some serious kind. Usually sexing a plant is for propagation where it's imperative to control breeding but he did it to weed out the Males long before any pollination for a seedless crop giving the remaining plants more resources sooner.
His knowledge could have filled books I'm sure. That tip was also featured in Ed Rosenthals "ask ed" column in high times. My grandpa's weed was legendary and i think it might have had something to do with his seed collection that he was sorting through. Every seed was either propogated unintentionally or with diabolical intention. The end result was always a suprise. But if you care about strains and their development you must keep breeding controlled. Also getting rid of unwanted males creates space and saves soil nutrients for the plants you want. The marijuana discussion has never been bigger but doesn't make sense according to most everything i learned about it growing up. I never grew it like my family but I had enough exposure to gain knowledge without trying. If there's something else i could suggest it would be curing techniques. He never had a dryer rack. He would hang his branches upside down in the dark damp crawlspace underneath the house. It seemed curious after stressing about mold at harvest. He even developed a strain that was early flowering to avoid mold that he called oregon outdoor. I asked him why he cured this way and he said that upside down branches with leaves on droop down over the flowers slowing the cure and make trimming the leaves easier. The stem attaching the leaf becomes a bright line that's easy to spot. Slowing the cure as much as possible without causing mold is real magic. Your flowers when cured will stick to walls like a booger. Cure as slow and damp as possible with the least amount of heat and light. If you use a jewelers lense and select flowers by how the trichome looks you change the levels of cbn and cbd. A more degraded trichome will have higher cbd than one picked at an optimal harvest time. Its why that crappy brick weed from Mexico would plant you in your chair. That in combination with the plant having seeds. When plants are with child all resources go to the child just like people. If the plant is not with child it becomes desperate for fertilization and makes itself stickier. If the plant is stressed it becomes more desperate and even stickier. When he smuggled his crop to my mom in California every year she'd sell out quick. There were always stories about how her weed wrecked someone. These tips are great for someone growing their own but may not be useful for large scale grows that are more concerned with volume than quality. Others tips were stressing the plant before harvest, only use natural methods, tying starts in a loop then untying and supporting their weight near harvest, removing big long branches that will produce one tiny piece of pot because it's a wasteof resources, try growing only tops or cola's, I could go on. I grew a few strains from fem seeds (outdoors), after harvesting and during curing while I was rotating the jars I found a seed in 2 jars. Where on the plant did it come from and will it be a fem seed? Or is it just nature’s way of survival.
2 observations I'd like to have Clarified. Do males elongate more with less growth near the stock as apposed to a female? Also I noticed 2 of my plants produce different numbers of leaves. One plant has 5 feathers per leaf where the other plant has 7 per leaf. Is this a difference between genders or just genteics?
Unrelated, but in regards to indoor growing, why do “blurple” lights get so much hate? I just picked up an led and I guess it’s kind of blurple so I was disheartened
Not full spectrum and are missing certain wavelengths, in addition it makes diagnosing plant issue difficult on first onset. In general not a fan of these types of lights.
You mentioned being able to identify Male and female plants at the 4-6 week mark.. I assumed this is in Veg? I normally veg my plants about 7 weeks (27-30”) before flower. I assume there is no threat to the female plants until I flip them to flower? I also wanted to confirm the males can be identified before flipping to flower.. thanks
Cna anyone tell me, do male plants need 12/12 or they just make sacks when they mature enough, if logically thinking, seeds fully develop 4-6 weeks, so if sack starting growing as same as female bud they willl be too late to pollen
Bro! 😂😂 Hit the Gelato and start snipping! But be prepared to be there for hours. Just keep away from the Bubblegum or you will end up with a grow tent full of bonsai!!! 😂😂😂😂 This has got me chuckling - I can just picture it!

Happy to help, thanks for taking the time to comment!
Wow! Growing marijuana isn’t as simple as planting seeds and returning for the harvest! I plan someday of growing it for personal use…….getting older wreaks havoc on the body. Thanks for the educational insight and I’ll be watching you!
Hope you are able to learn something on the channel.
IS 3:51 HARVESTING TIME I GOT ONE :( PLZ HELP ME HERE IN GREECE IS HARD MY FRIEND :( PLZ !!!
IT IS 1,5 METER
Don't listen to that crap
@@kostudas1no lmao the buds should be like half the size of your fist b4 u harvest if not bigger obviously this is plant dependant
So can you use make plants to produce seeds for more plants? Or Is cloning best?
Depends on your goal... do you want identical copies of the original plant?
@@DeBaccoUniversity i planned on clipping off some clones then pollinating one solely for seed production because it’s nice quality flower for me just starting. Just wondering if mass seeds are worth it or just focusing on feminized seeds. 😂 theres so much im still learning.
Awsome vid! Thank you
You are welcome!
I have grown various seedlings into a single pot, Now after 2 weeks they have aroused. Should I keep them as they are or should I use different pots?
Up-potting is in order.
Very good. Thank you
You are welcome!
1 question: if a female plant gives buds and in the buds you have sometimes a seed also. If you grow this seed ,will this give also buds? I really wanna know.
Can be unfertilized seeds but you can only tell if you try;-)
Thank you for your respond💪
if i wanted my cannabis plant to herm, what would you recommend i do without using any type of spray? im currently drastically varying the light intensity i give the plant every day by using the dimmer on my light. and is it possible to get a male plant to herm?
Light stress via changing photoperiods can often be effective.
@@DeBaccoUniversity thank you so much
How far can the pollen travel ? Let's say somebody in my neighbourhood has some male plants, should i be worried ?
It can travel many, many miles, but the odds of a high rate of pollination (if it is a small grow) is minimal so I would not worry too much about it.
Professor debacco, how old where these plants
Not sure of the exact days old, but the field video was taken in the late July early August ragtime if I remember correctly.
@@DeBaccoUniversity thanks for the gems
It's just basic and when it start showing pollen it's too late for outdoor. Any method for early stage sign?
Identify the preflowers and this will be before the pollen is viable and released.
I wonder if big outdoor grow operations got problems with competitors dumping pollen on their fields? It would be very easy to fertilize a whole field with drones^^
This would be a lot of work to transport pollen.
great video
Great comment!
After flowering, after how many days does full maturation occur?
It can depend on the variety you are growing and the photoperiod for some. General range is 7-9 weeks or so.
Very informative, thank you for your effort
You are welcome and thanks for the subscription!
One of mine looks lik it stopped in the first week of flower all others look great
Stopped in what way?
@@DeBaccoUniversity it started with pistols and looks lik it was jus about to flower and never did all others r stacked with buds but one jus never budded their outdoors plants so can't do nothing light wise
One plant survived but unable to determine about male and female. Will you please help if I send you close photos?
Waiting for your support and reply
Sounds like you are in the pre-flower stage so if you wait a little longer and they develop further you should be able to tell more easily. You can send an image but there is no threat of pollination if the flowers are underdeveloped.
Great info, thanks
You are welcome!
It’s my 3rd week in flower 1 of my 4 have have started producing flower the others are still growing but no signs of flower, what do I do
How can you be in your 3rd week of flower with no flowers? Are they autos?
@@DeBaccoUniversity no not autos, I was thinking the 3 are males but I’ve put so much time and money into them I want to make sure there males before I take them out, this is my 3rd year growing haven’t had this happen to me so I’m confused on what to do I’ve watched your video probably 10 times
so if my plants have any little sacks they are males ? too bad i have 3 plants which for sure i thought were females but i had my doubts
In short... yes.
Hi. My experience has been that females are ready for pollination as soon as the preflowers appear.
A true preflower is underdeveloped but depending on other factors, it may not be long after preflowering that they are receptive to pollen.
@@DeBaccoUniversity Thank you. So perhaps it was few days later then. I remember only having about 10 seeds where the preflowers had been. I was using pollen from my fridge, from an earlier male. Getting reg auto seeds is difficult around here.
I grew a few strains from fem seeds (outdoors), after harvesting and during curing while I was rotating the jars I found a seed in 2 jars. Where on the plant did it come from and will it be a fem seed? Or is it just nature’s way of survival.
50/50 male to female chance depending on the pollen source.
Last year I used clones and found seeds after trimming. They ended up being males.😢
1. Males do tend to be taller.
2. genetics;-)
Last year I have a lots of seeds.
Likely there was pollen in the area.
Yeah. It's no joke. 1 male can Knock up 1000 or more Females. If even your neighbors don't pull males. Would that be a F1 hybrid? How do you get that?
I would like to no if u can determine a male and female seeds
Only though genetic testing.
I also wanted to confirm the males can be identified before flipping to flower.. thanks
Some strains need longer to mature from seed than others. Those little pre’s should be visible in veg if mature.
In short yes, called pre flowers as mentioned/shown in the video.
if you clone from female plants, will the off-spring be garunteed female plants ?
Ideally yes which is why this method is so popular for cannabis propagation.
@@DeBaccoUniversity thanking you
oh . . and is there a percentage of "feminized" seeds that turn out to be male ?
🤓add some music and explosion...... thank you for the information.
Goal is facts not flash.
Can the male plant pollinate the female plant with without pollinated ??? Thanks guys
No, if it is pollinated, it is pollinated.
@@DeBaccoUniversityhey mon no it was not pollinated but it had big balls lol an I got ridder it so I would assume it's didn't affect my other plants
Cna anyone tell me, do male plants need 12/12 or they just make sacks when they mature enough, if logically thinking, seeds fully develop 4-6 weeks, so if sack starting growing as same as female bud they willl be too late to pollen
Typically the 12/12 will induce flower formation, but I would not trust all the males to follow this;-)
Thank you 🎉❤
You are welcome 😊
Do you ever keep the males separately to harvest only the pollen or is that even possible?
This is possible and an isolated grow tent with carbon filter is the recommended location for males.
I know this is probably very dumb but what would happen if you cut the pollen sacks off. Would it die or still grow bugs??
Plant would still grow.
Bro! 😂😂 Hit the Gelato and start snipping! But be prepared to be there for hours. Just keep away from the Bubblegum or you will end up with a grow tent full of bonsai!!! 😂😂😂😂
This has got me chuckling - I can just picture it!
Great video. Only one question, where is that field located? 🤔 😂😂
Outside;-)
In the 70s and 80s when you bought weed, they all came with seeds that you cleaned. Were we smoking Male plants?
Nope, just pollinated plants.
I have both, did I screw up my first plants?

Nice
Thanks.
Is it true there is a type of hash using male pollen sacks ?
Rumor has it that this can be done, but there are better starting materials.
You won't know until you buy some from a less than reputable source, then go home and wonder why you just caned a quarter and got nothing but a weird pulsing headache just above your eyebrows and at the back of your skull on either side where it joins your spine. Been there way back in the 70's only it was 00Moroccan that had been pressed with henna. 🤢🤬
Love your tutorials.
Glad you like them!
Sir u talk about only male and female flowers, what about intersex plants?
These plants have both types of flowers on the same plant, but these are often rare.
Thank you again for a great video!👏❤️👏
Thanks for the positive comment!
can you just pinch off the little sacs and let it grow
This may be true, but if the plant is male there will be no final flower yield.
Thanks
You are welcome!
I finally got a plant to grow but because I'm new I have no idea wtf it is
Best of luck with it.
Very clear explanation
Very clear comment;-)
How soon can you tell when it's a male or female?
In the pre-flower stage.
