Were the US to invade Denmark and Europe were to fight against it then Europe almost certainly would win, especially as Canada and other powers would likely join against the US (threatening to annex Canada doesn't exactly win any favours here, Canada's military is also sworn to the British King Charles III first and foremost). That's not even getting into morale issues that the US military would face at having to fight a war of conquest against its allies.

The US is notoriously terrible at winning wars by itself, history is the judge of that, it always needs European powers to fight with it (the only time NATO's Article 5 has been triggered it was by the US calling Europe for help in the Middle East).
Were the US to invade Denmark and Europe were to fight against it then Europe almost certainly would win, especially as Canada and other powers would likely join against the US (threatening to annex Canada doesn't exactly win any favours here, Canada's military is also sworn to the British King Charles III first and foremost).
That's not even getting into morale issues that the US military would face at having to fight a war of conquest against its allies.

There’s 0% chance he actually invades either, but he has to have that potential threat there for negotiations. You can say it’s not nice or fair or it’s a hostile way to negotiate, but it is what it is. The easiest way to a deal here is exerting a potential physical threat.

No he does want it primarily for the land and location itself. The US would love to have control of it (and of Canada) and the Panama canal. It's because of the shipping routes that will open up due to the Arctic thawing with climate change, new trade routes, new angles for military projection. Mining and oil is secondary here, the US is already fine for those domestically.
It's just that he, like Putin, does not care about sovereignty or the people already living in these places, it's pure 18/19th century Great Power imperialism, the sort that led the UK to ruling a quarter of the world (mostly to prevent France or the other European powers from controlling it instead). We're seeing it again now with the US, China, and (an attempt by) Russia.
Threatening war with a fellow NATO member over it is insane though, whereas he unfortunately can probably get away with it in regards to Panama.
